Straight jump over low bar
Volha Makhautsova (BLR)
Score one for Volha Makhaustova, proving that free jumps over the low bar are not simply a vestige of the close-bars era but are doable in modern elite gymnastics. Not like anyone is bothering, but the precedent is there. Makhaustova got this skill named after herself at the 2011 world championships and continued performing it into 2012. It’s still just a C, but for a lot of gymnasts, that’s going to be a usable counting skill, one that takes away the need to do some clear hip with a 3-tenth handstand position deduction.
