      1. I’m equally surprised by the 9.8 and the 10.00 for DeJong- 10.0 would be out the door with the little foot shuffle on beam but that was also the only big deduction so 9.8 seems stingy. I’m not sure the ‘it was in Georgia’ theory holds up since that regional semi-final was the best judged I saw all weekend. Minnesota really was that hot and Denver and UGA gave high 196 performances in terms of being that good and accruing that many deductions. If they wanted to throw it to UGA, there were several routines they could have given an extra .05 without being too out of line. Their entire beam lineup would have gone .05 higher apiece in Tuscaloosa and .1 higher apiece in SLC.

Speaking of SLC- what do Soloski’s leaps look like in person. I feel like they are always short of 180 but wonder if that is camera angle or she is better some weeks than others.

      2. I’m in SLC and have seen Soloski in person many times. I would say she’s right at 180. She’s not over 180 like some gymnasts, but I don’t think she’s coming up short. No deductions on her leaps is correct IMO.

      3. Thanks- having most meets filmed from the stands, above, behind instead of beside vault, etc has really screwed with perspective. I was wondering if that’s why her FX score seemed not to rise from previous routines a couple of times.

  1. wtf is a 1O – 9.8 split I’m screaming. Just when I thought it couldn’t be worse when I saw a 1O – 9.85

  2. Ok but how do we do something about the egregious overscoring and huge ranges of scores of these judges rather than just complain on the internet? I’m actually fired up because I feel like if Lexy Ramler was on LSU she would get a 10 every week, and I don’t want leotard bias to be the reason the Gophers don’t keep advancing. So dead serious question- what do we do? Is there some sort of petition or performance review shit? I’m tired of being mad at overscores and then having fans of teams getting mad at us being mad at overscores. How do we fix the judging?

    1. or when Anastasia Webb got a 1O from one judge on vault when she had a meter hop… I don’t know but I want to do something

      1. ok I was wrong, it wasn’t a meter but it was clearly a hop and got a 1O from one of the judges…
