Because of the opportunity to end the skill in side position, the back handspring with 1/4 turn is much more popular than its equally valued cousin the back handspring with 1/2 turn.

This is also one of the uncharacteristic skills in the code of points where every aspect of body position is not compulsively dictated in that the code of points wants this element to hit a true handstand before lowering to “optional end position,” but you will see the majority of athletes go directly for a split handstand or stag handstand, and make no pretense of lowering later, and everyone’s just cool with it I guess?
