The double front with 1/2 turn before landing is probably most famous as the bars dismount that almost killed Nastia all those times and yet never faced trial. At that point in time, it was a D skill, just like the double front, meaning that the only reason to perform it was if controlling the blind landing on the double front was causing too many problems.
It has since been upgraded to an E element to reward the addition of a 1/2 twist. The hope was that this would also help introduce the double front 1/2 out as another viable dismount in a pretty boring and repetitive dismount landscape. It has not.
