Double Y Turn (Memmel)

Floor exercise

Skill type

Known as
Double Y turn/spin
Double split turn
Memmel (turn)

Named after
Chellsie Memmel (USA)

Or, as the code of points calls her, Chelsia Memmel. Score another one for the CoP.

The double Y turn is a surprisingly new skill on the scene, and it’s a bit remarkable that it was still available to be named after Chellsie Memmel. Still, attempts to squeeze out every possible tenth of D score through double turns is a rather recent phenomenon, a reaction to the tumblies’ ability to throw out multiple G+ tumbling skills. As such, the double Y turn (or more accurately, the 1.35 Y + weird stumble) is an increasingly standard part of floor composition.
