The L turn with 1.5 twists has technically been in the code of points since the 1970s, not because anyone was actually doing it, but because all 1.5 turns with the leg raised were considered the same thing. Even once turn positions differentiated, this never became a named element because it never had to be added to the code. It was already there.

In the modern era, this exceptionally difficult element has been the domain of the Wevers Family Beamers and pretty much nobody else. Because why would you even? It’s so difficult to complete and control that most gymnasts attempting to get a D-value turn on beam will opt for the double spin instead.
