Pre-meet lineups for the first semifinal: Georgia and Stanford have listed no changes from the regional finals. Florida has DiCello in the all-around, competing floor and not Amelia Disidore. Blakely is on three and is alternate for vault. LSU has McClain on all three of her events. In podium training yesterday, she did bars and beam but not vault.

The PA announcer introducing Georgia with “welcome BACK to nationals” is my favorite maybe-accidental dig. Introducing the team that kind of sucked for a while…GEORGIA.

Florida’s swamp-themed intro video with NO wild animals ANYWHERE? Hm.

Rotation 1

Zeiss – VT – LSU – we’re predicting a 9.850 written down before she goes – solid Y1.5, hop forward, a bit of knees. 9.850 is in.

Backsay – UB – Georgia – good van leeuwen – tries to hold stick on double tuck, leans forward quite a bit. 9.8125

Draser – BB – Florida – bhs loso, secure – switxch, pause check before switch 1/2 – 1.5 dismount, leg separation, holds the stick. 9.850

Robinson on floor, hits double tuck – one of her best ones on the Memmel – double pike, under control. 9.8125

McClain – VT – LSU – yfull, great height, ginger on the landing with a kind of uncertain step back. 9.825

Wahl – UB – Georgia – toe on to maloney, good height into pak, catches a little close but works through it into half turn – DLO, another lean forward to hold the stick. 9.800

Arana – BB – Florida – bhs loso, step back and big wobble to keep it on the beam – aerial,. hit – switch, pause before switch 1/2 to beat – gainer full, holds stick with lean to the side

Walker – FX – Stanford – double pike, too much power, bounce back – good completion on switch 1/2 to wolf full wolf full – front tuck through to double tuck, good control on landing

Woolford – UB – Georgia – good first hs – pak, nice amplitude – tughter hs on low – misses toe on on low bar, has to recast up – van leeuwen is good – stalder to double tuck, forward, hop forward. 9.5875

Everyone is tigggghhhttttttt.

Out of control landing for Roberts on vault gets a 9.70-9.850 range. 9.725

Nguyen – FX – Stanford – strong DLO, crossover back step – front tuck to double tuck, missed her stepout on the front tuck, still got the double tuck to her feet but short landing, chest down. 9.7375

Blakely – BB – Florida – hits wolf triple solidly – leans through a switch 1/2 to beat – hits gainer full. 9.9125

Scott – UB – Georgia – hits Ray to Pak, shuffle back on DLO

Lincoln – VT – LSU – very strong stuck y1.5

Good wolf double from Jung-Ruivivar, whip to double tuck, controls landing –

A couple 10s for Lincoln on vault, mostly 9.950s. 9.9625

Frazier sticks 1.5 dmt on beam.

Snyder – UB – Georgia – Chruch to overshoot is solid – step back on dismount

Drayton nearly follows Lincoln with a stick on vault, small step forward. 9.875

Roberts – FX – Stanford – front tuck throught o double tuck – switch 1/2 to popa, good split and popa completion – front lay to rudi, shows control on step –

DiCello – BB – Florida – wolf double, hit – switch to split is solid – bhs loso, lean wobble – aerial is hit – gainer full, holds landing, little rebound

Reingold – UB – Georgia – good piked jaeger, hits hs, pretty pak – nice completion on 1/2 turn on low – DLO, small movement. 9.925

Chio – VT – LSU – Y1.5, sticks it – she was really struggling in podium and landing short all through warmups, but that was her normal good one. 9.9625. Tied with Lincoln. I would have Lincoln ahead on overall dynamics.

Barbosu – FX – Stanford – whip to double tuck, stuck but chest down – little hop out of front pike on second pass –

Harris-Miranda – BB – Florida – hop forward on 1.5 dismount.

Kellerman – UB – MSU – hits jaeger – bail, legs together solidly – short hs on high – DLO, nice rise, strong landing

Vetter secure on bhs loso series – beat to side aerial, also solid, some flexed feet to take – sticks gainer full.

After 1
LSU 49.4750
Florida 49.4625
Stanford 49.2500
Georgia – 49.1500

Everyone started by anxiety-peeing on their first couple routines, but the seeded were the ones who found the hits toward the end to reinforce their rankings. Georgia needed a lot more out of bars. That was way weaker than normal.

Rotation 2

Jung-Ruivivar hop back on yfull, holds finish position for 19 years, correct.

Zeiss – UB – LSU – toe on to maloney to pak is hit – FTDT, hop forward

Gleichowski – BB – Georgia – bhs bhs loso, holds it, small waver from head on – full turn, a little breezy in here – beat to switch 1/2, secure landing – 1.5, hop forward

Nikki Smith stryuggles on DLO on bars, chest down, jarred stumble landing –

Vetter – FX – Ohio St – double tuck, good leg position, controls the landing – tour jete 1.2 to popa to popa, rotates it – front lay to rudi, controls back leg

After 2
Florida 98.900
LSU 98.6625
Georgia 98.400
Stanford 98.125

It’s been an adventure so far. LSU struggled through almost that entire bars rotation for just 49.1875, keeping Georgia in this one, just a couple tenths back. Stanford was going to need to land vault perfectly to stay competitive, and this wasn’t that.

If you told me that Florida would get one (1) 9.9 on floor and would be comfortably in the lead…

Rotation 3

Pilgrim – VT – Y1.5, hop forward. 9.850

Good stick from Jung-Ruivivar on stalder to double tuck

Coen – BB – LSU – aerial, leannnnns into beat jump, wobble – bhs loso, secure – 2/1, lands with a stagger stick – still gets a 10 start – 9.7875

Zeiss opens with wobble on side aerial, lean to the side – aerial, connects to bhs – switch to split, hit – gainer tuck full, stuck. 9.7625

Nice bars stick for Robinson for Stanford, lovely position.

Frazier on vault for Florida – hits DTY with hop back

Wahl with strong control on front tuck through to double tuck landing – tour jete 1/2 to wolf full, arms it around –

Drayton – VT – LSU – switch 1/2, hit – bhs loso, holds securely – switch to split jump – 2/1 hop back

Roberts step back on DLO on bars

DiCello – VT – Florida – lands Y1.5 to her feet, hop forward and some form

Tomlin – FX – Georgia – double arabian, pretty, connects to stag jump – switch 1/2 to popa –

Lincoln – BB – LSU – aerial, check before bhs – tries to rtedo aerial, wobbles again before doing bhs again – switcht o beat – full turn – switch to straddle 1/4 is good, nice height – 1.5 dmt, hop. No acro series there.

Ferris – VT – Florida – lands shortish on y1.5 with a step back

Aquino – FX – Georgia – DLO, controls the front foot – front tuck through to double tuck, drops into it well, chest a bit down – switch 1/2, rises higher into wolf full – 9.9375

Lincoln doesn’t get the acro series, but they’ll have to range conference. 9.425

Soma with a good van leeuwen – DLO, hop back

Smith – BB – MSU – holds loso series securely – beat to straddle 1/2 – sticks double tuck dmt very well

After 3
Florida 148.125
Georgia 147.9375
LSU 147.9125
Stanford 147.4125

Georgia moves ahead of LSU by a hair after the third rotation, though LSU will favor going to floor compared to Georgia finishing on vault.

Rotation 4

Scott – VT – Georgia – good high yfull, little hop back. 9.850

Robinson good stick on 1.5 on beam.

Very nice stick for Aquino on Tsuk 1/1 for Georgia. 9.925

DiCello – UB – Florida – Church to pak, strong combination – van leeuwen, solid form – flings FTDT a little, some leg position and slide back

Drayton – FX – LSU – DLO, good height, very slight rebound back – front tuck through to double tuck, solid landing. 9.9375

Wahl – VT – Georgia – Y1.5, hop forward. 9.8875

FINAL
Florida 197.7875
LSU 197.4375
Georgia 197.2625
Stanford 196.9375

Well. That got a lot more fun than it looked like it was going to after the first rotation. LSU got their “we sorry” result after what happened last year, a LOT of mistakes in this meet and to my memory a weaker performance than the one that got eliminated in the semifinal last year, but Georgia was sooo tight early and didn’t have enough tenths to lean on when finishing on vault. Good Stanford did not really show up until late in the meet today, and by that time it was already over. A great beam made it closer, but they couldn’t get it back.

In the AA, Kailin Chio did pull out the lead from the first rotation after all, though a 39.6125 is not going to be impervious.

Kaliya Lincoln and Kailin Chio are tied for the vault lead with 9.9625. Riley McCusker has the bars lead with 9.9875. Konnor McClain and Ana Barbosu are tied on beam with 9.950. Kailin Chio leads on floor with 9.9625. How many tied national champions on 9.9625 will we haveeeeeeeee?
