The pike jump is among the rarer of the A (0.1) dance elements on beam. A-value dance elements themselves are rare because they cannot earn any combination bonus and therefore only exist to be tacked onto another element to fulfill the dance combination requirement. And even for that purpose, the wolf jump and sissone tend to be more popular. You would really only pick the pike jump if you’re particularly good at pike jumps and want to show it off.
