About
In the category of “they stole my skill from me,” we have the Luconi. Patricia Luconi competed the full-twisting back handspring as a beam mount in the 1988 Olympic cycle and got it named for herself when the code update was published in 1989.
This skill lived as the Luconi until the 2009 code update, when the description was changed from a full-twisting back handspring to a 3/4-twisting back handspring, reflecting the reality that everyone doing this skill actually does it with 3/4 of a twist to grab the beam before completing the final 1/4 on the beam.
At this point, the Luconi name was also removed, which makes no sense because that is also how she performed it. The description of the skill was changed to make it more accurate, but it’s still hers.
