Switch side 1/2
Switch straddle 1/2
Switch leap 3/4
The switch side is the colloquial name for a switch leap with 1/4 turn to a straddle position, with the switch side 1/2 adding an extra half turn to that. So 3/4 twists in total, with the straddle position achieved after the first 1/4 twist.
In one of the great “the code doesn’t know what it’s about” moments, the basic switch side is also known as the Johnson, which is what it’s called on beam, and that has been translated to floor. According to the code, this is after Kathy Johnson, but she famously performed her side split on beam without change leg. Meanwhile, Brandy Johnson did perform the switch side on floor.
Neither did this one.
