Back hip circle
Hip circle backward
I mean, why is this even in the elite code of points anymore? Is this a children’s party?
Despite the fact that gymnasts can still perform them for A value, hip circles with the hips touching the bar are not considered up to the level of difficulty of elite gymnastics—to the point where clear-hip-circle elements are nearly always shorthandedly referred to as simply hip circle elements because that’s the only type of hip circle you’re going to see in a routine.
The code designation for the back hip circle also included the “false pop” where you pop off the bar with your hips and then regrasp, which is a total olde-tyme gymnastics vestige.
