Yelena Shushunova was performing this mount from the very start of her senior elite career in 1984, and it was soon named after her when she performed it at the 1985 World Championship in Montreal.

Planches are fairly rare in modern elite gymnastics because there’s no incentive at all to get that tired, but there are some gymnasts like Vanessa Ferrari who will carry the torch for the planche in the form of this Shushunova mount. At least the C (0.3) value starts to verge on something that might actually be useful.
