Neck Stand 1/2 (Silivas)

Balance beam

Skill type

Known as
Neck stand 1/2

Named after
Daniela Silivas (ROU)

The neck stand as a thing that people would do—despite being called a neck stand and please don’t—is forever associated with Daniela Silivas once she decided that yes, the neck is a good place to rest my body weight.

The additional struggle of this mount, besides the whole neck part, is that like most elements on beam that involve an inverted split handstand, unless you’re able to get to an exact 180-degree split position, it’s just going to look like an unwatchable mistake. The rest of you blends into the beam, so all anyone can see is whether you have a true split position.

Because gymnastics is a comedy, not a drama
