About
It’s not technically an Onodi because the Onodi is its own skill that takes place on the beam, but it’s just such an easier way to describe what’s happening here than “1/2 turn into front walkover blah blah blah.” She’s doing an Onodi, but doing it as a mount.
And by doing it as a mount, there’s much more reward than there is for the Onodi. Because of the Great Mount Upgrade of ’17 this skill is now an exceptionally valuable F element, which is pretty unusual. Typically, mount versions of on-the-beam skills are the same value, or perhaps one tenth more, but in this case, the Dunn is now worth two tenths more than the Onodi.
The Onodi isn’t exactly super popular these days on the beam, but I am somewhat surprised that none of the gymnasts who already do Onodis haven’t elected to try the Dunn mount as well since it’s just so valuable.
