In gymnastics history, the Yamashita 1/1 is the least common of the three Yamashita vaults that exist in the code (though all of them are extinct now anyway). The Yamashita 1/1 happened to arise just as we moved into the 70s, right at the time that salto vaults were becoming all the rage and shunting Yamashita vaults to the Closet of Obsolescence.
