Final NQS Scenarios

Scores in BOLD can no longer be dropped.

1. Oklahoma

Road Score 1198.175
Road Score 2198.075
Road Score 3197.900
Home/Road Score 1198.475
Home/Road Score 2198.200
Home/Road Score 3198.050
Current NQS:198.080

Maximum NQS: 198.195
Possible ranking range: 1-2

Despite a non-counter over the weekend, Oklahoma stayed at #1 because no one else among the very top got a 198 either (whatttt?). Oklahoma is still looking for that 198.125 this week to break its old NQS record but will also be subject to what Florida does in terms of the final #1 ranking because Florida has the higher maximum NQS after conference championships.

2. Florida

Road Score 1198.575
Road Score 2197.975
Road Score 3197.775
Home/Road Score 1198.250
Home/Road Score 2198.150
Home/Road Score 3198.100
Current NQS:198.050

Maximum NQS: 198.210
Possible ranking range: 1-3

Florida does have the higher maximum possible NQS than Oklahoma but would need 198.500 at the SEC Championship to guarantee it. Which, this year, you never know. But it’s a lot. Basically, Oklahoma is sitting in control right now, but if Florida goes crazy as SECs, a switch is possible. Florida also has a chance to break the old NQS record with a 198.150. Ensuring a spot in the top 2 and staying ahead of Michigan requires 197.950.

3. Michigan

Road Score 1198.525
Road Score 2198.025
Road Score 3197.950
Home/Road Score 1197.950
Home/Road Score 2197.950
Home/Road Score 3197.925
Current NQS:197.960

Maximum NQS: 198.080
Possible ranking range: 1-4

Theoretically, Michigan could tie Oklahoma, but that would require a season high at that 198.525 mark and a non-counter from Oklahoma, so it’s not the most likely. The possibility of catching Florida will also be majorly challenging—requiring 198.400 to even have a shot—so Michigan is probably just hoping to fend off Utah and stay in third.

4. Utah

Road Score 1197.950
Road Score 2197.875
Road Score 3197.750
Home/Road Score 1198.575
Home/Road Score 2198.000
Home/Road Score 3197.775
Current NQS: 197.870

Maximum NQS: 198.035
Possible ranking range: 3-6

Utah actually has a pretty wide range of possible rankings, spanning both the #1 seed and #2 seed ranges at regionals, but will be aiming for anything over 198 this week, which would be enough to clinch a #1 regionals seeding regardless of what anyone else does.

5. LSU

Road Score 1197.825
Road Score 2197.625
Road Score 3197.200
Home/Road Score 1198.125
Home/Road Score 2198.050
Home/Road Score 3197.975
Current NQS:197.735

Maximum NQS: 197.920
Possible ranking range: 4-7

With Alabama idle and Auburn getting a non-counter, LSU took advantage of the opportunity and jumped up to 5th place. It would take a semi-hefty score to pass Utah for a spot in the top 4, but if LSU goes 197.9 and Utah doesn’t get a 198, it can happen. LSU and Auburn are pretty similar in terms of maximum NQS, but that maximum NQS would hinge on Auburn getting back to 198.5, so consider LSU in the driver’s seat in that regard.

6. Auburn

Road Score 1197.750
Road Score 2197.750
Road Score 3197.250
Home/Road Score 1198.575
Home/Road Score 2197.925
Home/Road Score 3197.575
Current NQS:197.650

Maximum NQS: 197.915
Possible ranking range: 4-8

Auburn was not able to escape the tie with Alabama this week but retains the edge in the tiebreak and the higher maximum NQS after SECs. Still, it would take a 198.200 to absolutely clinch a spot ahead of Alabama in the final rankings, so the conference championship results will decide much in that regard.

6. Alabama

Road Score 1198.000
Road Score 2197.600
Road Score 3197.125
Home/Road Score 1198.075
Home/Road Score 2197.875
Home/Road Score 3197.650
Current NQS: 197.650

Maximum NQS: 197.840
Possible ranking range: 5-8

Of the teams in the top 7, Alabama has the lowest maximum so will be subject to what the others score this weekend. While it’s possible that Alabama could lose a spot in the top 7, it’s not likely and can be avoided completely with just a 197.400. There’s no chance at this point for Alabama to be dumped out of the top 8.

8. Minnesota

Road Score 1197.850
Road Score 2197.125
Road Score 3196.500
Home/Road Score 1198.025
Home/Road Score 2197.850
Home/Road Score 3197.650
Current NQS: 197.395

Maximum NQS: 197.700
Possible ranking range: 6-10

There’s an outside shot that Minnesota could challenge Auburn/Alabama this week, but it’s not super likely. Mostly, Minnesota should be content with a spot in the 8-9 zone and the 1-8-9-16 regional, which will take only 196.675 to ensure.

9. Kentucky

Road Score 1197.500
Road Score 2197.150
Road Score 3196.700
Home/Road Score 1197.650
Home/Road Score 2197.450
Home/Road Score 3197.450
Current NQS:197.250

Maximum NQS: 197.440
Possible ranking range: 8-13

Kentucky and Cal look to be neck-and-neck as the most likely teams for that #9 spot right now, with Kentucky enjoying a slight advantage in maximum NQS, though it would take a 197.600 at SECs to clinch outright, so it will probably end up being a matter of margins on the day.

10. Cal

Road Score 1197.200
Road Score 2196.925
Road Score 3196.875
Home/Road Score 1197.900
Home/Road Score 2197.575
Home/Road Score 3197.525
Current NQS: 197.220

Maximum NQS: 197.425
Possible ranking range: 8-13

Kentucky’s score in the early session at SECs will determine whether Cal has a shot at a spot in the 8-9 regional with its performance at the late session at Pac-12s, but Cal will aim for a 197.575 regardless, which would ensure that no other team can pass for a spot in the top 10.

11. Missouri

Road Score 1197.225
Road Score 2196.875
Road Score 3196.850
Home/Road Score 1197.675
Home/Road Score 2197.650
Home/Road Score 3197.350
Current NQS:197.190

Maximum NQS: 197.355
Possible ranking range: 9-13

Missouri also does have an outside shot at the 8-9 but is very dependent on what Kentucky and Cal do in that regard. One consideration for Missouri is that, in the current setup, they would be faced with traveling to Auburn as the #3 seed in the Michigan/Auburn regional group, which is a terrible setup for any upset hopes. So Missouri might not even mind dropping a spot if the top 8 stays the same.

12. Michigan State

Road Score 1197.500
Road Score 2196.975
Road Score 3196.850
Home/Road Score 1197.575
Home/Road Score 2197.425
Home/Road Score 3196.875
Current NQS:197.125

Maximum NQS: 197.270
Possible ranking range: 9-15

Michigan State is no longer in danger of getting dropped out of the seeded positions, so while there’s still quite a range of possible results and regionals placements that will be just as dependent on other teams as on MSU, getting a score from the conference championship is not the most urgent.

13. Oregon State

Road Score 1197.150
Road Score 2196.875
Road Score 3196.675
Home/Road Score 1197.375
Home/Road Score 2197.275
Home/Road Score 3197.225
Current NQS:197.040

Maximum NQS: 197.180
Possible ranking range: 12-16

Like Michigan State, Oregon State has done just enough to secure a spot in the top 16 already so is not facing the pressure of other teams at conference championships looking for a score in order to get to a specific tier.

14. Arizona State

Road Score 1197.375
Road Score 2196.600
Road Score 3196.550
Home/Road Score 1197.800
Home/Road Score 2197.075
Home/Road Score 3196.800
Current NQS:196.880

Maximum NQS: 197.130
Possible ranking range: 12-20

Arizona State is still in some danger of getting bumped out of the seeded positions, especially with UCLA lurking, so will be eager to get 197.325 at Pac-12s to clinch a seeded position, though in reality it probably won’t take quite as much as that.

15. Denver

Road Score 1197.600
Road Score 2197.075
Road Score 3196.625
Home/Road Score 1197.000
Home/Road Score 2196.850
Home/Road Score 3196.800
Current NQS:196.870

Maximum NQS: 197.030
Possible ranking range: 14-20

Denver currently sits in 15th, so would have to be dislodged by others to lose out on a seeding, but both UCLA and Ohio State do have higher maximum NQSs, so Denver may be at the mercy of others if Ohio State puts up another big score.

16. Ohio State

Road Score 1197.525
Road Score 2196.900
Road Score 3196.675
Home/Road Score 1197.100
Home/Road Score 2197.075
Home/Road Score 3196.575
Current NQS: 196.865

Maximum NQS: 197.055
Possible ranking range: 13-20

Ohio State’s peak is higher than Denver’s but only slightly, so it would take a significant result of 197.425 at Big Tens for Ohio State to secure a seeded position outright.

17. Arkansas

Road Score 1196.975
Road Score 2196.800
Road Score 3196.800
Home/Road Score 1197.200
Home/Road Score 2197.050
Home/Road Score 3196.475
Current NQS:196.820

Maximum NQS: 196.965
Possible ranking range: 14-20

Arkansas is another team that could get into the seeded positions but will have to wait to see what everyone else scores to know if there’s a chance. Otherwise, Arkansas would be an unseeded geographically placed team in the Oklahoma regional, which right now would mean a regional semifinal with Minnesota and Kentucky.

18. UCLA

Road Score 1196.850
Road Score 2196.300
Road Score 3195.475
Home/Road Score 1198.050
Home/Road Score 2197.700
Home/Road Score 3197.650
Current NQS:196.795

Maximum NQS: 197.310
Possible ranking range: 9-20

UCLA is the team that’s making everything so ambiguous because this range of possible outcomes is so massive. We’re just going to have to wait and see what the score is like because UCLA could end up anywhere from a high #3 seed to outside of the seeded positions altogether depending on how Pac-12s goes. At minimum, UCLA will be looking for 196.675, which would be enough to clinch a spot in the top 16.

19. Illinois

Maximum NQS: 196.970
Possible ranking range: 14-21

Both Illinois and Maryland have done enough to get themselves in position to maybe-could-iffy-maybe have a shot at a seeded position, but a lot of moving pieces would have to move a very specific direction all at the same time.

The teams from #21 BYU through #28 NC State cannot get into the seeded positions but are also already locked for regionals. Some may still get dropped into the play-in meets depending on how things go, but they’re safe for qualification.

Home/Road Score 1197.275
Home/Road Score 2196.900
Home/Road Score 3196.825
Current NQS:196.290

Maximum NQS: 196.725

Washington is the top team that isn’t fully locked for a spot at regionals because 196.305 is the NQS of absolute safety (not a surprise based on the score trends from early in the season). So while Washington isn’t technically assured a spot at regionals yet, it would take only 195.175 at Pac-12s to clinch it and even that probably isn’t required because it would be unlikely for enough teams to get huge enough scores on the same day to push Washington all the way out of the top 36. Because of that high maximum, getting out of the play-ins is also still on the table for Washington given a strong result on Saturday.

30. Towson

Road Score 1196.100

Road Score 3195.975
Home/Road Score 1196.700
Home/Road Score 2196.625
Home/Road Score 3196.525
Current NQS:196.245

Maximum NQS: 196.390

Getting an absolutely safe score is more of a challenge for Towson as it would require a conference championship total of 196.275 to clinch, but again there are enough teams between Towson and the drop zone that a huge bunch of them would all have to go out of their minds to bump Towson out. So it’s still a pretty good position.

31. Southern Utah

Road Score 1197.000

Home/Road Score 1196.975
Home/Road Score 2196.975
Home/Road Score 3196.675
Current NQS:196.235

Maximum NQS: 196.635

Southern Utah has been waiting all season to get rid of that 195.000 road score from the very first meet, and the conference championship provides the last opportunity to do it. Like Washington, Southern Utah isn’t absolutely safe but is in a very good spot because it requires only 195.350 on Saturday to clinch, which is deeply doable even with mistakes.

32. Arizona

Road Score 1196.300
Road Score 2196.050
Road Score 3196.025
Home/Road Score 1196.850
Home/Road Score 2196.400
Home/Road Score 3196.375
Current NQS:196.230

Maximum NQS: 196.395

Arizona did the job in its two-meet week to get into one of the better positions among the bubble teams heading into the conference championships, though it would still take 196.400 at Pac-12s to make it a done deal, which is well within the realm of realistic but definitely not a given. But as long as Arizona gets close to that mark, it shouldn’t take too much help.

33. North Carolina

Home/Road Score 2196.000
Home/Road Score 3195.700
Current NQS:196.225

Maximum NQS: 196.410

North Carolina is another team that did the job in the critical moment over the weekend with another 196 to sit in a semi-comfortable spot, with a higher peak after this week than both #32 Arizona and #30 Towson. UNC will now need a 196.100 at the conference championship to clinch.

34. West Virginia

Road Score 1196.575

Home/Road Score 2196.100
Home/Road Score 3195.925
Current NQS:196.185

Maximum NQS: 196.315

West Virginia is still sitting in a precarious position, able to clinch on Saturday but needing basically a season high to do it with a goal score of 196.525. Still, you’d rather be West Virginia than the teams ranked below, and since WVU competes after all the other questionable teams, we’ll know exactly what needs to happen (if anything) by the time Big 12s starts.

35. San Jose State

Road Score 1196.550
Road Score 2196.325
Road Score 3196.025
Home/Road Score 1196.625
Home/Road Score 2195.975
Home/Road Score 3195.950
Current NQS:196.165

Maximum NQS: 196.300

It was a tough week for SJSU, with a non-counting 195.400 dropping the team into the danger zone. San Jose still sits in the top 36 in a regionals position, so if everyone has a meh day at their conference championships, San Jose would advance, but with a maximum NQS below the safe zone, San Jose cannot control its own destiny on Saturday and will be reliant on at least one team not getting the job done.

36. Western Michigan

Road Score 1196.675
Road Score 2196.100
Road Score 3195.750
Home/Road Score 1196.725
Home/Road Score 2196.225
Home/Road Score 3196.000
Current NQS:196.150

Maximum NQS: 196.345

With a couple big scores lately, Western Michigan has improved its maximum NQS and now has a shot at safety at the conference championship, though it would take 196.525 to clinch, so the most likely story has Western Michigan playing Scoreboard Watch all day.

37. Penn State

Road Score 1196.550

Home/Road Score 2195.875
Home/Road Score 3195.475
Current NQS:196.060

Maximum NQS: 196.275

Penn State is currently in a tough spot, outside the top 36 and with a maximum NQS below the clinch score, meaning Penn State both has to get a strong score on Saturday AND hope that others miss. Penn State must score at minimum 195.925 to have any shot (anything below that is an automatic elimination), and then spend the rest of the day yelling “FALL FALL FALL.”

38. Kent State

Road Score 1196.850
Road Score 2196.375

Home/Road Score 2195.600
Home/Road Score 3195.550
Current NQS:196.055

Maximum NQS: 196.315

With that gigantic final meet score, Kent State technically could clinch on Saturday, but with a score of 196.800 required to do so, it doesn’t seem the most likely. Kent State has to hit at least 196.025 to stay alive at all, so then anything in the 196.025-196.775 range will mean Kent State is in limbo, depending on what others do.

40. Central Michigan

Road Score 1196.275
Road Score 2196.125
Road Score 3195.550
Home/Road Score 1196.650
Home/Road Score 2196.475
Home/Road Score 3195.150
Current NQS:195.915

Maximum NQS: 196.215

A meet of falls over the weekend shifted Central Michigan from the role of spoiler to the role of outsider, the last team with even a vague shot at regionals. Central Michigan has the lowest maximum of any of the teams still alive, so CMU’s hopes are mostly about others missing. To stay in contention at all, Central Michigan will need to go 196.325 on Saturday.

All other teams have already been eliminated.

Sunday Live Blog – March 13, 2022

Denver hosts a fascinating quad meet today, where the biggest challenge presents itself to Nebraska, which is finding the door closing on regionals, and quickly. With today’s results thus far, Western Michigan, Penn State, and Kent State have moved into 36th, 37th, and 38th places, all with NQSs over 196, ensuring that it will take an NQS over 196 to make regionals this year for the first time ever. So even with a season high today, Nebraska won’t be able to get into the top 36 and will need to go big today and then hope for another high score at Big Tens while some other teams miss.

Today’s results have also eliminated Pitt, George Washington, and UC Davis from regionals contention.

In other implications for this quad meet, Oregon State will hope to go over 197.3 in order to pass Michigan State for 12th place, while Denver and Arkansas are in a little seeded-position fight. Denver is currently sitting 16th but precariously, while Arkansas has been dropped to 20th for the moment but could move into the top 16 with a season high today.

The number of gymnasts on crutches in this Denver intro is all of them.

Denver starts on vault, Arkansas on bars, Oregon State on beam, and Nebraska on floor.

Gonzalez with a secure aerial to back tuck on beam for Oregon State – switch 1/2, a bit short into split jump – side aerial to tuck full, holds the landing.

Curtis finishes FX for Nebraska, just pulls around a double tuck, chest down.

Arkansas also went 49.075 on bars.

Higgins hits front 2/1 on FX and sticks her 1.5 to layout – I do like this knee spring middle pass.

Nebraska 48.650 on FX, which will not help the 196 cause.

Carey with another 9.950 to get Oregon State to 49.475 on beam. Looks like Letzsch’s score had a SV issue and was resolved to a 10.0 start and a 9.825 score.

After 1:
Oregon State 49.475
Denver 49.075
Arkansas 49.075
Nebraska 48.650

Denver also doing just five on bars. Goes 49.175.

Nebraska 49.000 on vault.

Lovett – BB – Arkansas – aerial, small hesitation before loso but pulls it out, secure landing – switch, nice split position but check and no connection – redoes it, shorter split this time, checks a little but does a split jump this time – side aerial to layout full, stuck. Gets out of there with a 9.8.

Oregon State has an OOB from briones on FX in the third spot after two 9.7s.

Hambrick – BB – Arkansas – straddle back over mount – bhs loso series, large break but keeps it on, onto one foot, leg up and back, leans forward – switch and switch 1/2 are nice – beat to straddle 3/4 is secure – gainer full, stuck. 9.650

Dagen – FX – Oregon State – punch front 2/1, around and under control – switch 1/2 to popa, clean – front lay to front full, a bit of leg position on lay, again well controlled – double pike, chest forward, step.

A shaky beam rotation for Arkansas but they get through with over 49.

O’Hara hits beam in exhibition for Arkansas.

Carey – FX – Oregon State – double double tucked, keeps front foot under control – front full to front lay to sissone, comfortable – switch 1/2 to popa, around, high – double tuck, little bounce.

Still waiting on the score for her. It’s OK, I didn’t need to know.

Cal against Iowa moving toward a start now.

It was 9.950 for Carey for Oregon State to go 49.075 on floor.

After 2:
Oregon State 98.550
Denver 98.250
Arkansas 98.125

Rotation 3 from Denver getting started first.

Garcia vaults for Oregon State, stumble back on yfull, lunge and additional step.

Looks like scores died, which is fun.

Gonzales – VT – Oregon State – full on back pike, hit, bounce back, some chest position –

Colombo on UB – hits piked jaeger, a couple short casts – front giant 1/2 to double tuck, deep, hop forward.

Dagen – VT – Oregon State – Y1.5, medium lunge forward

Iwai – BB – Denver – switch to split, nice positions – bhs loso loso, right on – side aerial, good leg extension – gainer full, a bit flat, hop back

Carey – VT – Oregon State – DTY – huge height, little hop back, as per usual

Brown – BB – Denver – aerial, keeps arms moving into back tuck, some knees in aerial – beat to split jump to sheep jump, a bit low on those dance elements – gainer full, little hop. 9.850

Davis finishes bars for Nebraska witha  little slide back on high DLO.

Carey gets another 9.950 to get Oregon State to 49.300 on vault.

So fun, apparently Cal and Iowa has started and all we’re getting is the big screen’s footage of twitter?

Smith on floor for Arkansas huge piked full in, chest down but very secure.

Hutchinson on beam for Denver has a lean on her kickover front, otherwise clean, small scoot on gainer full.

Nebraska is done on 48.925 on bars, so it’s down to a good beam to keep the season alive.

Mundell – BB – Denver – bhs loso series, clean – switch to switch 1/2, shows 180, small lean – 1.5 a little low but fine, slide back

Hambrick – FX – Arkansas – double tuck, very nice – rudi to layout to straight jump, solid – double pike, solid, chest down. 9.875

Mundell went 9.900 so Denver is on 49.400 on beam, cuts Oregon State’s lead to two tenths.

Lovett – FX – Arkansas – DLO, hit comfortably – double tuck, nice closed tuck position, clean landing – switch 1/2 to popa, hits 180s – front lay to front full, good one. 9.875

After 3:
Oregon State 147.850
Denver 147.650
Arkansas 147.475
Nebraska 146.575

Oregon State with a lead but going to a potentially lower score, Denver two tenths back and going to floor, but floor also a deeply depleted event for Denver at this point.

So the Cal stream is just dead as a door nail, but Cal went 49.225 on vault featuring a counting score from Solari in the anchor spot. Iowa meanwhile went 48.775 on bars after counting a 9.450, so it will be again up to the other events to pick it up.

Rotation 4

Yamaoka – UB – Oregon State – toe on to maloney, legs together – a bit short on cast on high – bail – just a couple missed verticlas – giant full into double tuck, down, hop forward

Spence – BB – Nebraska – bhs loso, check after landing, shoulder dip – side somi, lean forward, pulls it back – switch to beat jump, nice – 1.5 dismount, stuck.

The Cal stream is back to life – Perea sticks a DLO dismount in the leadoff spot. And it’s 9.950. Well, it’s a different meet than Friday.

Iwai started Denver with 9.825 on FX.

Brown – FX – Denver – 2.5, crossover step but controls the back foot – switch ring to switch 1/2 to wolf full, switch ring is good flexibility but a very open ring – 1.5 to layout, solid.

Dagen – Ub – Oregon State – catches tkatchev – bail, a little over vertical – short cast hs on high – toe on, hesitation into giant full to double tuck, pulls in some, step back.

Looks like Shaffer sticks her Y1/2 on vault, but we can mostly just see Chris’s back. 9.925 for her. Nearly the perfect 9.950.

Zivat is 4th on vault for Iowa, small slide back on Tsuk full. Good. Some pike.

We have a peel off for Bird on bars for Oregon State. That looked ouchie.

Schank – UB – Cal – up 4th – pretty piked jaeger to overshoot, legs together – good cast hs on high – DLO, hop back.

Guerin – VT – Iowa – medium hop back on Yfull.

Li – UB – Cal – hits first hs – pak is high – toe on to van leeuwen, solid – giant full to double tuck, stuck. Pretty.

Roby is up on beam for Nebraska – clean aerial – bhs loso, lean to the side, covers –

Jakubczyk has a couple leg breaks on bars for Oregon State but overall one of her more secure bars this year.

Bordas finishes bars for Cal with a stick on her giant full double tuck dismount.

Mundell finishes floor for Denver, punch rudi, controlled step.

Carey – UB – Oregon State – slightly loose back in first hs – maloney to bhardwaj, hit – solid cast hs on low – van leeuwen, legs together – solid final cast hs – FTDT, stuck.

After a huge vault score, Arkansas gets up to 196.975 after looking like it would be low 196 for most of the day.

Carey finishes out her day of 9.950s for a 39.800.

Oregon State finishes 196.875, so will be behind Arkansas.

Hutchinson – FX – Denver – good front 2/1, control – 1.5 to front lay, secure –

Briones just did exhibition on bars for Oregon State with a routine that should be in the six.

Critical final beam for Nebraska now, needing a hit from Thlaer – aerial through to bhs bhs, clean – switch to beat, good feet – kickover, solid – 1.5 a bit under, hop to the side. A counter.

Hutchinson’s 9.900 gets Denver to 196.800 and third place as Arkansas comes from behind to win it.

FINAL
Arkansas 196.975
Oregon State 196.875
Denver 196.800
Nebraska 195.750

Meanwhile Cal went 49.625 on bars to sit on 98.850 after two events. Iowa 49.075 on vault to go to 97.850.

So, not enough for Oregon State to pass MSU. Oregon State still in 13th.
Denver moves ahead of Ohio State and into 15th.
Arkansas moves ahead of UCLA and into 17th.
Nebraska goes to 41st but is eliminated from regionals contention with a max NQS after next week of 196.140 and with 36th place already at 196.150.

I only just noticed no Henderson for Iowa on vault or floor today.

Rotation 3

DeSouza – BB – Cal – cat leap to aerial, smooth – bhs loso, hit, chest a little low – beat to sheep, secure, hip angle – sissone – 1.5 dismount, small hop. Comfortable opener. 9.850

Killian – FX – Iowa – 3/1, only a hair under, solid – front full to front pike, some knees – switch side and popa, not as high as those at the end of the lineup – double tuck, chest position, controlled. 9.800

Clausi – BB – Cal – kickover to beat, secure – bhs loso secure, composed not to check there – full turn, slight tentative check there – switch to switch, solid back leg position – side aerial to tuck full, stuck. 9.925

Rojas – FX – Iowa – front tuck through to double tuck, bounce back – switch to split leap 1.5, pulls it around – double pike, deep landing, lunge back, covers it pretty well. 9.675

Williams – BB – Cal – wolf double, hit – bhs loso series, good extended legs – aerial, again straight knee throughout – switch to split, a whiff of hesitation but connected – side aerial to tuck full, holds the stick. 9.900. I would have ranked that higher than Clausi’s.

Kenlin – FX – Iowa – front 2/1, crossover step, keeps back foot down – glad to see this back in the lineup – 1.5 to layout, some leg crossing in the 1.5 – switch to split ring full – 9.875

Bordas – BB – Cal – aerial to split jump, keeps arm moving through a hesitation, some back leg – bhs loso, solid – switch to split, solid split position in the switch – full turn – bhs gainer full goes a little crazy, chest well forward on the lean to hold the landing. 9.750

Greenwald – FX – Iowa – full in, secure landing – switch side to popa, around – 2.5 to front tuck, holds the step, some leg position. 9.875

Li – BB – Cal – aerial to split jump, smooth – bhs loso series, lovely – LOLOLOLOLOL full turn fall onto the beam and then sits side saddle about it – gainer tuck full, stuck.

And 9.450 with a fall onto the beam. Maybe some funny bonus there.

Kaji – FX – Iowa – 1.5 through to 2/1, wonderful speed, control – switch full, pretty – double pike, secure. Switch 1/2 to split full. Excellent routine. 9.900

Lauzon – BB – Cal – switch to split, secure – bhs bhs loso, very good – cat leap side aerial to layout full, holds stick. Confident. 9.925

Guerin – FX – Iowa – FTDT, keeps front foot down – switch side to popa to straddle jump, huge – front tuck through to double tuck, chest a little forward. Strong rotation. 9.950

Cal 49.350 on beam to get to 148.200. Iowa 49.400 on floor to go to 147.250.

Watterson pulls out a hit on beam in the exhibition spot, as does Jones. Both good ones. Jones nearly lost it with her foot placement on the dismount but survived.

Rotation 4

Ebeling – BB – Iowa – bhs loso series, hit, somewhat soft knee – full turn, hit – split to split ring to beat jump, gets to horizontal there – aerial, bend at the hips to save it – gainer pike, stuck. 9.700

Schank – FX – Cal – double tuck, chest up, controlled, good – double pike, similar – switch side to popa to popa, looked like pretty solid finishing position today – 1.5 to layout, gets low on that pass, some knees, secure. 9.900

Vance – BB – Iowa – bhs loso series, lots of knees, hit – aerial round off, leg up wobble – straddle to straddle 3/4, lean – side aerial to tuck full, stuck. 9.750

DeSouza – FX – Cal – double pike, hit, chest pretty far down – switch side to wolf full, around, a little hoppy – 1.5 to front full, solid – rudi to double stag, high, arm wave to try to control it. 9.875, that’s a bit high for me.

Killian – BB – Iowa – bhs loso, some tight hips, hit – front tuck, good composure to hold it – switch to switch, higher back leg in second switch – 2/1, high, small movement. 9.825

Clausi – FX – Cal – double pike, secure, chest forward, not as far as DeSouza – comfortable leap combination – 1.5 to front lay, super crisp body position on layout – double tuck, very good. Expect a big one. 9.950

Kaji – BB – Iowa – full turn, good rhythm – bhs loso series, super high but a wobble, leg up – cat leap to side aerial, another lean – gainer full, little slide. 9.700

Bordas – FX – Cal – double tuck, controlled step – 1.5 to layout, leg separation in the layout – switch to switch ring 1/2, bounce – rudi, controls her front foot. Another 9.950. Oh boy.

Rojas – BB – Iowa – bhs loso series, secure – front tuck is low but holds is well, connects into beat jump – split to split jump 3/4, a bit low – gainer full, hop back. 9.750

Green – FX – Cal – front 2/1, nice twisting form but lunges into a stag jump that was verging on out of control – switch to popa, good – 1.5 to front…pike?, some legs in the 1.5 – 9.850 I do not understand.

Kenlin – BB – Iowa – bhs loso, solid – hitch kick to aerial, check lean – switch to split jump to split jump 3/4, excellent leap positions – side aerial to full, holds the landing.

Quinn – FX – Cal – front lay to rudi, good form and control, comfortable – switch side to popa to wolf jump, smoothly around – double pike, chest a little forward, presents with a step ahead.

9.925 for Quinn gives Cal 49.600 on floor, which is a program record score. Cal was like, “Admit one SEC floor scoring please.”

197.900 for Cal, the high for them on the season.

Iowa goes 196.175 which will not count and will keep them in 23rd.

Cal will move ahead of Missouri and back to 10th but will not catch Kentucky.

Saturday Live Blog – March 12, 2022

In the race for regionals, yesterday was largely a day of missed opportunities, with Pitt not getting a counting score and Central Michigan counting two falls for a low 195 that nonetheless moved the team into the top 36 because that’s how low the dropped score was. But it’s not the safe position that Central Michigan could have moved into.

So in early action today, opportunities for all of West Virginia, Arizona, and North Carolina (the 33-35 teams) to make life very difficult for the teams competing tomorrow—#37 Western Michigan, #39 Nebraska, #40 Penn State, #41 Kent State. The “fend them off” NQS right now is 196.165, so to get there West Virginia wants 196.300, North Carolina wants 196.175, and Arizona wants 195.975 today. Those scores wouldn’t make these teams safe for regionals but would be enough to keep them in the top 36 heading into conference championships and in better position to control their own destinies.

In other news, Auburn got passed by LSU yesterday and is looking for 197.700 today at Michigan to get back in front in the #5 position. UCLA could move into 16th place for the moment with a 197.900, but that’s dependent on Denver competing tomorrow. Missouri has a shot at Cal in 10th because Cal didn’t get much of a usable score yesterday, but needs 197.600 to move ahead.

Arizona is first of the bubble teams to finish up today and was on track to surpass easily the goal score for most of the meet until a counting 9.475 on beam here with one routine still to go. With a hit, Arizona will still be able to get to 196.

Sirena Linton came through in the final routine for Arizona to avoid counting a fall on beam and go to 196.300, while BYU takes the win with 196.775. That score will take Arizona into 31st, moving ahead of Iowa State, San Jose State, and West Virginia.

Speaking of West Virginia. It’s time for the Auburn, WVU, Michigan meet and North Carolina’s visit to Georgia.

This girl approaching the pre-meet handstand walk at Michigan like there’s a scholarship in it for her. That’s the intensity I’m looking for.

I have the page editor open to the Hall of 10s and ready to go to work.

Rotation 1

I really like the shot of Bev we got during Guggino’s vault! 9.825

Anyway, Sabados with a bounce back on her DLO leading off for Auburn.9.750

Wojcik – VT – Michigan – pretty in the air as usual on her Y1.5 – hop forward. 9.850

Groth – UB – Auburn – Ray, solid – hits hs – pak, legs together – a bit late on 1/2 turn on low – good final cast hs – giant full a bit late into double tuck, hop.

Heiskell out of control on her 1.5 landing, large lunge forward. 9.750

Morrison 4th on vault for Michigan, slightly deep landing on Y1/5, step back.

Stevens – Ub – Auburn – a bit of elbows on tkatchev, hits bail hs – rushing slightly on final cast hs – DLO, slight piking in first salto, good landing.

Georgia and UNC is underway, Magee vaults second for Georgia and a better one for her, crossover step forward but not low.

Brooks 5th on vault for Michigan, similar to Morrison, a little short with a step back.

Brusch – Ub – Auburn – toe on to maloney, good legs together, a bit of angle on bail hs – borderline final cast – DLO, holds the landing onto her toes. 9.875

Wilson finishes vault for Michigan with a medium lunge forward on her y1.5. Michigan didn’t have the landings today on their Y1.5s but still a fine rotation.

49.350 for Michigan, thought they went a little soft on Morrison and Brooks with those steps back.

Gobourne – Ub – Auburn – tkatchev to pak, good height and speed in Pak, a bit over on 1/2 turn on low – FTDT, stuck. Nice. And it’s 9.925

We have a fall from WVU from Hornung in the third spot on beam.

Lee – UB – Auburn – good first hs – Nabs to pak to van leeuwen, very clean – solid cast hs on high – FTDT, leans forward onto toes and then step-salutes. Great.

9.975.

There is a sign in the crowd that says “Super Suni” and just glancing for a sec I thought it said “STOP SUNI” and I’ve been laughing about that for too long.

Auburn takes the lead over Michigan with 49.375 on bars.

Over at Georgia, Baumann is up 5th on vault, lunge forward on Y1.5 with some knees.

Combs is up 4th on beam for WVU in a must-hit spot – clean aerial, keeps moving fast enough into back tuck, check – full turn, wobble – cat leap to switch side, solid position – kickover, connects to beat – punch front full, tucking, hop forward. A hit. 9.800

Schaefer on bars for UNC in the 5th spot – blind to jaeger, good toe point – some angle in cast hs and clear hip – slightly crooked catch on bail, good toe point – nice FTDT, stuck.

Holmes-Hackerd – BB – WVU – cat to aerial, little lean into back tuck – cat leap to switch to back tuck, nice save, bounces back and turns to the side but stays on – A hit and a critical save there. 9.750

Roberts finishes VT for Georgia – nearly sticks her Y1.5, little ginger step, knees

Culton – UB – UNC – stalder to tkatchev, a little low but fine, good toes – bail, some arch, leg separation on catch – stalder to double tuck, stuck. Good landings today for UNC. 9.875

Georgia gets to 49.275 on vault to UNC’s 49.150 on bars. Both will take it.

Asper – BB – WVU – bhs loso loso, lean and another little correction lean the other way – switch and split 1/2, nice switch – 1.5 dismount, hop. Some 9.7iness in that rotation but did enough to keep themselves alive for the less scary events.

9.825 for Asper to get WVU to 48.975.

After 1:
Auburn 49.375, Michigan 49.350, WVU 48.975
Georgia 49.275, UNC 49.150

On the topic of senior days, very interested to see how many of these seniors Georgia can get to come back for a COVID year because without them…they’ve got not much here… not even half lineups.

Rotation 2

Greene VT – UNC – Yfull, some pike throughout, hop back

Ward – UB – Georgia – hesitant first hs – shap with some legs, connects to bail – solid final cast hs – DLO, nearly shows stick, step-salute

Brenner leads off for Michigan on bars – good first hs – blind to jaeger, good istance, to overshoot, solid – DLO, step forward. Solid. 9.875

De Jong second for Georgia on UB – tkatchev some wlobws but hit, short next hs – bail – DLO, small bounce.

Morrison – Ub – Michigan – great gienger – clear hip to bail, hits vertical, small leg break in the air – borderline final hs – DLO, a little low but pulls it out, small slide forward. 9.825

Brusch – up 2nd for Auburn on BB following 9.750 from Hollingsworth – aerial, keeps arms moving into split jump – bhs loso, hit – switch, very short back leg, wobble, breaks connection – switch to straddle 1/2, fine on second attempt – gainer full

Heiskell catches very close on Jaeger on bars, works out of it but should be a large deduction – the rest is pretty.

Finnegan for Georgia also had some trouble casting after her tkatchev so shouldn’t be a high score there. And by that I mean 9.750. Oh Georgia. This has been a very forgiving bars rotation so far.

And now Heiskell gets 9.850 with that large break on bars. Errors don’t exist.

Brooks – UB – Michigan – blind to piked jaeger, hit – toe on to bail, nice vertical position – solid final cast hs – DLO 1/1, holds the stick. Good one.

Schild has a dismount fall on bars for Georgia, so they will be very glad about the scoring of Finnegan’s routine.

Wojcik – Ub – Michigan – deltchev to overshoot is huge and well done – solid cast hs on high – DLO, sticks. Nice. 9.925.

The lack of separation here is something…

Vore – UB – Michigan – maloney to bail, slight hip angle, solid – finishes DLO, a bit of body position, good stick.

Roberts comes through for Georgia with 9.850 in the 5th spot.

Michigan 49.475 on bars.

Nguyen anchors for Georgia – good first hs – toe 1/2 to piked jaeger, clean position, good amplitude, some hesitation in cast hs – pak, high – solid final cast – DLO, a lit of legs apart, small hop forward. Solid one.

Georgia 49.200 on bars.

McLaughlin – BB Auburn – 5th up, following a 9.950 for Groth – switch, small pause before bhs loso series and falls

North Carolina went all 9.7s on vault for 48.800, so they’re now sub 196 pace and will need a solid performance on the final two.

Combs – FX – WVU – front tuck through to double pike, looked secure, the floor camera angle is mostly a cowboy hat – switch sdie to wolf full to popa, around  – double tuck, bounce back

Lee – BB – Auburn – wolf single, good – aerial, balance check, leg up, breaks connection into back handspring – switch to switch 1/2 is secure – bhs gainer full, stuck. I think even the Suni bonus cannot withstand not having an acro series in her routine. What an Aliya tribute.

Still gets 9.625 but that will count along with the 9.750 from Hollingsworth.

Auburn still over 49 with a 49.050.

After 2:
Michigan 98.825, Auburn 98.425, West Virginia 98.275
Georgia 98.475, North Carolina 97.950

Rotation 3

Magee – BB – Georgia – good bhs bhs loso series, finishes 1.5 dismount, larger lunge forward/ diagonally. 9.875 with at least a full tenth on dismount.

Nam – FX – UNC – double pike, feet, a bit low – good amplitude on rudi, controls the step back – switch 1/2 to wolf full, around – 1.5 to front full, hit, steps to the side, keeps dance in bounds. 9.800

Hawthorne BB Georgia with a solid loso series – hits her switch jump combination – kickover from knee to wolf jump, a little low on wolf position – 1.5, step forward. 9.825

Schild through her combination on beam cleanly this week. Just gets off line on her dismount with a little hop.

Morrison opens for Michigan on beam, hit candle mount – bhs loso, small check – cat leap to switch 1/2, large break, leg up wobble – 1.5, high, good stick. 9.825

Nguyen – BB – Georgia – onodi to bhs is pretty – y spin to full turn, a little cheated on leg position y spin but fine – split jump, good – side aerial to full, hop back

Wilson – BB – Michigan – hitch kick – bhs loso series, another very large break but good save, turns to the side, lots of arm waving – split jump to split jump – double tuck dismount is solid, hop back. Still goes 9.750.

Watson lands locked on her double Arabian on floor but fine, step out of it.

Vore – BB – Michigan – bhs loso series, check lean – kickover, holds it – straddle jump to split jump 1/2, a bit of back leg position – 1.5, stuck. 9.850

Stevens pulls of what looked like a very low double tuck on floor for Auburn.

Georgia and North Carolina both on track to get a billion in the third rotation.

Brooks – BB – Michigan – bhs loso loso, very nice, right to the end of the beam – switch to switch, solid back leg elevation – kickover, secure – double tuck, a little short and a hop forward. 9.950. Not sure how.

UCLA is underway against Davis.

Heiskell 5th on beam for Michigan – cat leap to side aerial, large break, bend at the hips past horizontal – bhs loso series is solid – also 9.750.

Nice yfull for Malabuyo in the second spot, small movement.

Lee – FX – Auburn – DLO very short, lunge forward – switch ring to split leap full are nice – 1.5 to front full is solid, a bit of knee position.

Chiles sticks her Tsuk full for UCLA, lean to the side to hold it.

Wojcik anchoring beam for Michigan – aerial to beat, lovely – switch to split, ideal positions – bhs bhs loso, excellent – 1.5 hop forward. 9.950.

Michigan 49.325 for a “you’re welcome, signed Natalie Wojcik” of a rotation with a couple that could have very easily been 9.6s in there.

Sekai Wright adds back in the Y1.5 today for UCLA, hits shortish landing, step back, knees.

Gobourne – FX – Auburn – open double back, solid – switch side and wolf full, nice – front full to front lay, under control – double pike, high and controlled. Good.

After 3:
Michigan 148.150, Auburn 147.650, West Virginia 147.200
Georgia 147.800, North Carolina 147.300

Both West Virginia and North Carolina are enjoying the glowing warming glow to do exactly what they need to do.

Meanwhile it’s 49.300 on vault for Minnesota led by 9.925 for Loper.

At this point Auburn won’t be able to get a passing-LSU score.

Campbell anchors vault for UCLA with a pretty real stick on her Yfull. Better than last week’s 9.950. And this one also goes 9.950.

UCLA at 49.425 on vault. They went loose on Wright’s score (I had a tenth for short, a tenth for step, and a half tenth for knees), but some good stuff from Chiles and Campbell.

Georgia got 9.925 for Perez-Lugones so keep an eye on where this one is going to go.

Final rotation getting started in Michigan.

Brenner – FX – Michigan – full in, chest well down to knees, secure landing – 1.5 to layout, secure – switch side to popa, slightly out of control – double pike, chest down, hit. And it’s 9.925

A fall in the third spot for UNC on beam already means a 9.675 will count with three to go. Need hits from all three now.

Stevens third on VT for Auburn, hits Y1.5, a bit short, slide back, knees

Auburn started that vault rotation with a 9.950 for Groth.

Gobourne – VT – Auburn – larger lunge forward on y1.5. 9.850

Watson hits a y1.5 to follow, hop forward, knees. And 9.925.

Lee pulls out the stick on her Lopez, landing looked a little jarring, chest well down.

Esparza returned to the bars lineup for UCLA today.

UNC gets a hit out of hannah Nam in the 4th spot. Two to go.

Auburn is done on 197.175 today, so that’s not a counter and will keep them tied with Alabama (though winning the tiebreak).

Wojcik went through cleanly on floor so 9.975.

Morrison – FX – Michigan – FTDT, great height, under control – front lay to front full, crossover step to control – great height on leaps – double tuck, slide back. 9.925

Culton – BB – UNC – bhs loso series, check – cat leap to switch side, good feet, slightly crooked in split – gainer full, hop back

Malabuyo hits her dismount this week on bars, bounce back on DLO.

West Virginia is done on 196.400 today, which does the job. Exactly what they needed.

Baumann – FX – Georgia – wolf 2.5, hit – 1.5 to front full, some knees, controlled step – switch side to straddle jump, super high – very short final pass with lunge forward. 9.825

Brooks – FX – Michigan – full in, solidly done – front tuck through to double tuck, fairly large bounce back – split leap full to split jump full, comfortable – slide back on final pass. 9.925 anyway.

Chiles – UB – UCLA – piked tkatchev to pak, clean – maloney to gienger hit – FTDT, holds onto the stick. Nice one.

Wilson – FX – Michigan – open full in, solid landing – front lay to front full to front tuck, little step, some loose body position in the first layout – great switch side and popa – double tuck, secure.

She gets a 10.000.

Flatley with a clean bars set for UCLA, slide back on DLO.

Knower goes 9.900 in the last spot for UNC to bring the total to 196.475, just what they needed as well. Big day for UNC and WVU.

Georgia gets 9.900 from Hawthorne to finish on 197.175

Michigan is done on 197.950.

UCLA 49.475 on bars to get at 98.900 after two events.

So where do we stand with regionals?

North Carolina slots into 32nd, just behind Arizona, ahead of Iowa State and San Jose State. West Virginia is still in 34th, but now ahead of San Jose State, which falls to 35th. CMU is in 36th. WMU. Nebraska, and Penn State can potentially move ahead of CMU tomorrow, but CMU still has the lowest score to get rid of.

Meanwhile at Minnesota, Ramler just did Ramler things on bars. 9.900

Rotation 3 starting for UCLA and Davis

Padurariu – BB – UCLA – hits candle mount – side aerial to bhs is secure – beat to sheep, small squeeze to hold it – side aerial to full, bounce up in place. Good. 9.875

Wait, so Lexy Ramler can go in the lineup and then again as exhibition to try the Seitz/Ramler – hits it. I didn’t know that was allowed but cool.

Chiles – BB – UCLA – aerial to bhs, smooth connection – switch to straddle to wolf jump, quick, good actual wolf jump – side somi, fairly large break, leg up, arm circle – double pike dismount, chest a bit down, shuffle back. 9.725

Minnesota is one 98.725 after two events, 49.300 vault, 49.425 bars.

“Flamingo music”? Anyway good flamingo from Tejo.

Flatley – BB – UCLA – aerial to bhs loso, check – switch to split, good positions, small hesitation in between but solid the connection – bhs 1.5, hop forward. 9.825

Kessler – FX – Davis – front full to layout, good height, lands a little deep – switch 1/1, around – double pike, shows control, but of knees – switch 1/2 to popa, shows 180s – 9.850

Campbell – BB – UCLA – bhs loso series, check – split leap, a little short to switch 1/2 to beat jump – split jump to straddle 1/4 – gainer full, slide heels together.

9.900 and one went 9.950.

Don’t pause past the apex of the jump to try to show that someone hit 180.

Otsu – FX – Davis – front 2/1, jelly legs on landing, deep crossover lunge – wolf double, around – switch side to popa, shows positions – 1.5 to layout, slightly soft but solid. 9.675

Sakti – BB – UCLA – switch to bhs loso, good height on loso, hits – cat leap to switch 1/2, leg up wobble – side aerial to layout full. 9.875

Abraham – FX – Davis – high DLO, good control, just some feet – switch side to wolf full, short positions – front lay to front full – double tuck, large bounce back, stepped out of bounds – I saw hesitation from flag lady there but there was both an initial OOB and a secondary step. 9.575

Malabuyo – BB – UCLA – wolf single, good – bhs loso, lovely – “partially perfect” is not a thing – aerial to beat jump, good composure – split to split ring jump, small squeeze – bhs loso layout full, stuck. Nice.

Pointing out the Carlton is becoming the “She’s Mary Lou’s daughter” of Emma Malabuyo.

It’s 10.000 for Malabuyo. A pretty routine. I felt like she covered a couple times, good covers but still covers.

Ray is going on floor for Davis. They’re like she probably did a first pass, who could ever know.

You cannot “finally” get a 10 as a freshman. That is not a thing.

UCLA 49.475 on beam, Davis 49.000 on floor.

After 3: UCLA 148.375, Davis 145.575

Sales ran backward right off the beam on her triple series in the 4th spot for Minnesota, so working against a fall now. Nylin follows her, bhs bhs loso is hit, switch side low back leg – 1.5 dismount, step forward. 9.775

Ramler finishes for Minnesota – bhs loso series, smooth – aerial to beat, comfortable as well – beat to split ring jump, solid ring position – side aerial to layout full, small slide back.

Mara Titarsolej’s giant full finishing position and no one else’s.

9.950 for Ramler and 49.375 on beam for Minnesota. 148.100 after 3.

Rotation 4

Scafani – BB – Davis – bhs bhs loso and falls – really nice split jump 3/4 – gainer full, step salute full, which is new and fun.

Flatley – FX – UCLA – 3/1, pretty, real twisting position – front 2/1, controls the landing, also well done – switch ring to switch 1/2, foot in switch ring but solid ring – 1.5 to layout, shows rise into layout. Clean work.

And one judge went 10. 9.975 for her.

Schulke-Lambardi – BB -Davis – kickover to bhs, mostly connected, confident – secure on straddle jump 3/4 – side aerial, smooth – gainer full, stuck. 9.825

Wright – FX – UCLA – 2.5, lunge forward, a bit of knees – do we need a closeup of Chris during this routine? that seems like a very pointed CHOICE – rudi to double stag, slight travel but solid – split leap 1.5, wrenched around a little into popa – 1.5 to layout, a little flat on the layout, controlled. 9.825

I feel like the entire theme of Pac-12 gymnastics coverage has been “Won’t somebody PLEASE think of the straight white men????”

Lyle – BB – Davis – side aerial to bhs, hit, a bit of knees in aerial – switch to straddle 1/4, LOVELY straddle 1/4 – side aerial to tuck full, good landing. 9.850

Sakti – FX – UCLA – double tuck, bounce back – but where’s the closeup of Chris during this routine? – switch 1/2 to split jump full, excellent split full height – front full to front lay, solid lay position, a bit low – double pike, chest down, under control. 9.775

Abraham – BB – Davis – bhs back lay 2 feet, only a little bit of pike, wobble – beat to switch side, back leg – bhs 1.5, lean forward, holds the stick. 9.775

Chiles – FX – UCLA – DLO 1/1, she goes for it, chest short, lunge forward – front tuck through to double tuck, solid control – split leap full to wolf jump 1.5, a little out of control on landing – double pike, slide back. We’ll see how difficulty forgiving they decide to be. 9.750, which seems about right.

Otsu – BB – Davis – wolf double, around, a bit of arm control – side aerial to bhs, pulls it together, squeezes to minimize the check – switch side, little lean – beat – nearly wobbles on choreo before dismount – misses her foot on her dismount punch and sits it down.

Campbell – FX – UCLA – FTDT, very good landing – split leap full to popa, nice – front lay to front full, controlled step – double tuck, chest up, solid. Her best of the year so far. Assume 10 at this point.

And it is.

Kessler – BB – Davis – stag stand to bhs loso, secure, some knees – split jump to split jump full, around but short of 180 – 1.5 dismount, hop.

Tratz – FX – UCLA – double pike, bounce back OOB – split leap full to split jump full, a bit out fo control, short back leg – 1.5 to layout, a bit of legs, good layout position – double tuck, secure, chest down.

Davis is done on 193.975, which will not count.

UCLA will go 197.700 today, which will keep them in 17th, pending Arkansas’s result tomorrow.

Lashbrooke is doing exhibition for UCLA and they’re showing this exhibition, which is new.

Minnesota has 9.950 from Ramler in the third spot on floor.

UCLA will be capable of gaining tons of ground at Pac-12s, and shouldn’t have much trouble getting into the seeded spots, but the question will be where. Who draws the short straw and has UCLA in their regional.

Remlinger also went 9.950 on FX for Minnesota, now Loper – front lay to rudi, controls landing – switch ring to split leap full, around – 2.5 solid control – 1.5 to layout, nice height, dance out.

Loper 9.950 with a 10.00 from one judge. Hooten still to go. Secure landing on FTDT, switch side to popa, good positions – front full to front pike, controlled step – double tuck, solid.

A lot of false starts for the Minnesota team trying to figure out if that was a 10 or not, but it was.

That’s 197.850 for Minnesota.
