Today’s slate is not quite as bound with meets as last Friday, with most of the top teams spreading themselves out away from each other in a respectful fashion, and a bunch of others not going until tomorrow because of the Secret Metroplex Meet of Secrecy that has no streaming or live scoring. It’s good. Really good. Everyone is pleased. You know someone is going to score a 199 that is just an eternal mystery.

For today, we have an early start with Minnesota @ Michigan at the very convenient time of 5:30 on a Friday, followed by the normal SECN action. Then I’ll be off to the weekly GymCastic WTF-Was-That-Meet-a-thon.

Looks like Michigan will once again not have Morrison on vault, with both Guggino and Mulligan in the initial lineup.

Rotation 1

Mulligan – VT – Michigan – nope, not Guggino (which was the original lineup) – yfull good amplitude, lunge back, some direction, some knees. 9.775

Johnson – UB – Minnesota – good first hs – toe on to maloney, leg break into bail, another body position break there – solid hs on high – stalder to toe on tuck 1/2, stuck. Nice finish. 9.850

Wojcik – VT – Michigan – Y1.5, large lunge forward today, second foot slides as well. “She didn’t sit it down.” Good one, Ashley. 9.825

Gerdes – UB – Minnesota – short first hs – maloney, some legs apart into bail, gets to a good vertical in the end, shows toe point – hits hs on high – FTDT, holds the stick. 9.875. Bars scores looking pretty loose early.

Wilson – VT – Michigan – nice Y1.5 – small movement on landing, big amplitude – head-on angle, which is not helpful. 9.925

Jencks – UB – Minnesota – Ray, hit, some form in the legs – clear hip to bail, hip angle in bail catch – shorter final cast hs – DLO, a bit flatter, small hop. 9.800

Brooks – VT – Michigan – Y1.5 lands a tad short today, which means she ends up with two distinct little steps to try to control. 9.825

Remlinger – UB – Minnesota – good frist hs – Ray, higher than Jencks, some elbows on catch – toe on to bail, better vertical there – short final handstand – FTDT, good stick. 9.875

Heiskell – VT – Michigan – Y1.5, hop forward today, beautiful in the air as usual. 9.900

Sales – UB – Minnesota – hits first hs – bail, nice crisp position – small hesitiation into toe circle up to high bar – blind, small leg break, khorkina is hit – small arch in cast hs on high – DLO, clean position, hop forward. 9.875

Guggino – VT – Michigan – Y1.5 – high on the table, got very little block, and sits it down again. That’s becoming an issue.

Hooten – UB – Minnesota – rushes first hs – blind to piked jaeger, good position on jaeger into overshoot, some hip angle there – some angle in final cast hs – FTDT is excellent. 9.950

A bit of a first-rotation surprise here as Minnesota will have the lead on Michigan after 1.

After 1:
Minnesota 49.425
Michigan 49.250

Definitely not the vault performance from last week for Michigan. Really, Wilson was the only one who brought it in the landing department today. They definitely miss Morrison in that lineup, but it could end up that a full from Mulligan (or Morgan?) looks like the best choice for the lineup this year if Guggino can’t find the hits, which would not have been Michigan’s plan.

Good dismount landings there for Minnesota with a number of sticks. Michigan will look forward to the opportunity presented by this bars scoring to try to bridge the gap.

Rotation 2

Jencks – VT – Minnesota – hits a yfull but a large rebound and additional step, not the distance and height of the Michigan vaults. 9.750

Heiskell – UB – Michigan – good first hs – blind to jaeger, some elbows – good hs – pak is very pretty, good height and position – giant full gets super crooked and she missed a hand and she has to hop off. Resumes with perfect giant full to double tuck.

Moraw – VT – Minnesota – good height on yfull, hop back – 9.850

Something I learned this week is that if you add an extra mat, you don’t have to put the vault lines on it, which…sort of defeats the entire purpose?

Morrison – UB – Michigan – gienger is hit – clear hip to bail, nice vertical there – shorter final cast hs – DLO, chest slightly forward with a hop. 9.825

Remlinger – VT – Minnesota – Y tucked 1.5, good distance, large lunge forward. 9.825

Wilson – UB – Michigan – hits first hs – blind to piked jaeger, small leg break at the beginning – bail, hit – short final cast handstand, a couple of the others were close but I think she got there in the end – DLO, holds the stick. 9.900

Gerdes – VT – Minnesota – Y1.5 and so glad we couldn’t see a single bit of it. A hit? On replay, she landed short with a lunge back. 9.825 (impossible score, short mandatory .1, step back mandatory .1)

Bauman – UB – Michigan – blind to high jaeger to overshoot, good amplitude and positions throughout – borderline hs – toe 1/2 to double front, nearly sells the stick, steps back into salute. 9.875

Quarles – VT – Minnesota – hits her y1.5 as well, but a pretty large step forward for her, similar to Remlinger. 9.875.

Brooks – UB – Michigan – blind to piked jaeger, solid positions hit – toe on to bail, very clean – pulls out that final handstand – DLO 1/1, small rebound. 9.925

Hooten – VT – Minnesota – good stick on her Y1.5, nailed it – good position in the air – rises onto toes to hold the landing. 9.950

Wojcik – UB – Michigan – toe on to deltchev, very good – bail a little short today – good final cast hs – DLO, smooth, small slide of heels together – not her best vertical positions in the first half, otherwise very nice. 9.900

Minnesota uses the Hooten 9.950 to go 49.325 on vault, which bests Michigan’s number there and puts them on a very nice pace through the first two.

Michigan gains some ground back with a 49.425 on bars, but will still trail. Bars started slowly, but the end of the rotation was very nice.

After 2:
Minnesota 98.750
Michigan 98.675

Battle beam should be very interesting in this one. Minnesota should be very excited about the potential for this road score, and Michigan is basically already throwing this one out as a home score. Freedom to do some experimenting on beam?

Rotation 3

Bauman – BB – Michigan – hits full turn – bhs loso, holds securely, chest a bit down – cat leap to switch 1/2 to beat, little arm wave, loses feet some in switch 1/2 – piked side somi is hit – gainer pike, leaning forward into step-salute. 9.850

Jencks – FX – Minnesota – front 2/1, lands under and lunges back a couple times, saves it from falling – solid leap combination – back 1.5 to front lay, fine, not the highest – rudi, chest forward with a step. 9.625

Wilson – BB – Michigan – hitch kick, super high – bhs loso, very high amplitude, wobble, lean right and left – switch split jump combination is hit – full turn, hit – double tuck, nearly stuck, small rebound. 9.875, high for the wobble and the dismount step.

Leneave – FX – Minnesota – double pike is landed, chest well down – switch 1/2 to wolf full, little under on wolf – back 1.5 to front pike, gets lower in the pike with slide forward – double tuck, also landed but in full cannonball shape. 9.650

Koulos – BB – Michigan – bhs loso, really nice – beat to straddle 3/4, holds it – cat leap to aerial, crisp, good amplitude – 1.5 dismount, shuffle forward. Excellent on the beam. 9.925

Gerdes – FX – Minnesota – front tuck through to double tuck, chest up well, some movement back – switch ring to split leap full to split jump full, good attention to position in the third element – double pike, chest forward, hop to present. 9.900

Brooks – BB – Michigan – bhs loso, secure – switch to switch combination is hit, maybe some slight leg position in second one – full turn – kickover, right on – 2/1 dismount, small movement. 9.950

Johnson – FX – Minnesota – wolf jump 1.5, a bit under – front full to 1/2 is clean – switch side to popa, bouncy on landing – round off double tuck, slide back. Still gets 9.875

Heiskell – BB – Michigan – cat leap to side aerial, pretty – switch to switch, loses control, leg up wobble – bhs loso, holds onto it without check – 1.5 dismount, small slide together. Still goes 9.875 as well. Errors for 9.875 has been a theme.

Remlinger – FX – Minnesota – FTDT, comfortably completed, slide back, some leg separation at the end – switch side to popa, gets slightly crooked in split position in the popa – 1.5 to front lay – double tuck, head down, pretty much controls the rebound – 9.925

Wojcik – BB – Michigan – aerial to beat jump, nice – switch to split, nice – bhs bhs loso, right on, very smooth – full turn – 1.5, stuck landing. Watch out for that one because the scores have been in the 9.9s with obvious things to take leading up to her.

And it is 10.

Hooten – FX – Minnesota – FTDT, good position, chest up, controls – switch side to popa, overturns the switch side by about a quarter turn, then does straddle 3/4 – front full to front pike, good rise into front pike – double tuck, again under control, chest up. Good tumbling. Id’ take a little for dance element landing precision.

9.975 for her.

Michigan goes 49.625 on beam. Enough wobbles to remind you to still be worried about this rotation, but also probably their most reassuring beam of the season.

Minnesota goes 49.325 on floor, which will lose the lead but is a good score for having to count a 9.6 in there and keeps them in contention for a big road number if they can stay on the beam.

After 3:
Michigan 148.300
Minnesota 148.075

You know, we’ve seen weirder things than Michigan still getting a 198 out of this meet. The way those hits for Minnesota were scored, Michigan will expect all the 9.9s.

Rotation 4

Koch – BB – Minnesota – full turn, nice – bhs loso, hits it, small waver on landing – beat to split 3/4 attempt, well well under split – kickover, to scale, pulls out the scale despite a deep landing on the kickover and a hesitation – 1.5 dismount, small slide back. Survived it. Survived it for 9.850. Sure. Surprised by that because of that very low split.

Guggino – FX – Michigan – double pike, looks like she held the front foot down – front lay to front full, good rise, slide forward – switch side to popa – front lay to rudi, secure. Good one. 9.875

Pearl – BB – Minnesota – full turn, hit – bhs loso, secure, softer leg position – switch to straddle 1/4, good height in straddle 1/4 – aerial to beat with an arm wave wobble – bhs with some knees into gainer full, hop back. You can tell she’s a Brestyan’s with that switch leap and how she whips that back up at the last second. 9.850

Koulos – FX – Michigan – 2.5 to front tuck, solid control – switch 1/2 to wolf full, loses control on the wolf full with an arm wave and drops early – double pike, slightly deep, slide. 9.950. I guess no one minded that weird wolf full???

Hooten – BB – Minnesota – candle mount, hit – kickover, large break and grabs the beam – kickover, redoes it for combination into bhs – beat to straddle 3/4 is secure – 1.5, small hop forward. 9.625

Heiskell – FX – Michigan – double arabian, good position in the air, lands short with a shuffle back – switch 1/2 to wolf full is lovely – 1.5 to front full, gets a little low at the end, small crossover step. Hit. 9.850

Sales – BB – Minnesota – bhs bhs loso, small check – switch, small pause into switch side, huge leg up wobble but keeps it on the beam magically – gainer pike, fairly close to the beam, small slide back. 9.700

Long judging delay before Brooks. Didn’t think there was anything SV remarkable for Heiskell. Possible range issue.

Brooks – FX – Michigan – FTDT, chest up, under control, good – split leap full to split jump full, around – front tuck through to double tuck, chest forward with little slide. 9.950.

Gerdes – BB – Minnesota – aerial, hit – bhs loso, solid – hits full turn – split jump to stag ring, good toes on split and nice closure on her stag – “she actually leaves her eyes” same – bhs gainer full, hop back. Necessary good hit. 9.900

Wilson – FX – Michigan – open FTDT, good control today – front lay to front full with a quick cover dance out – switch side to popa is excellent – double tuck, looks like she kept that front foot down. 9.950

Moraw – BB – Minnesota – full turn, hit – bhs loso, solid – beat to straddle 3/4 is on – aerial, wobble, saves it, lead foot was pretty far off the beam – bhs gainer full, chest forward with a step. 9.700

Minnesota survived that beam rotation, but it was definitely a survive. They get to 49.000.

Wojcik – BB – Michigan – split leap 1.5, looked pretty much around – back 1.5 to front lay, shoots out horizontally on lay, lower than she wanted with a little bounce – double pike, chest down, secure landing. And another 9.950. Sure why not.

Michigan goes 49.675 on floor to get this meet up to 197.975, which ends up being a useful home hit despite the slow start in the first two rotations. Minnesota will also be thrilled with 197.075 as a road score.

Florida and Missouri is already underway. We had Leanne Wong land very chest down on her vault with a large lunge and get away with 9.725, but they’ll want to drop it. Blakely followed with a hit Y1.5 for 9.875.

So this is a Florida leo. I know we’re doing cancer awareness so you’re not allowed to say anything about it, but also it looks like a bad dream you had after going to a 4 year old’s birthday party that was “pink pony” themed.

DiCello – VT – Florida – up 4th in this lineup – her best vault of the year, very small movement on landing – some knees in the air. 9.900

Sheremeta – UB – Missouri – good first hs – blind, late into jaeger, hit into overshoot – short final cast hs – rudi dismount with hop back. 9.850

Thomas – VT – Florida – hop forward on her Y1.5 today, a tenth on landing, nothing else to take. 9.900

Moore – UB – Missouri – toe on to high tkatchev, just a bit of elbows on catch into overshoot – borderline final cast hs – FTDT, deep landing, tries to cover into step-salute. 9.850

Clark – VT – Florida – yfull with a large bounce back, but they’ll have to count it because of the Wong vault, so it won’t be the highest score.

Somehow she got 9.850 for that vault, which is ludicrous. OK.

Hu – UB – Missouri – Church, hit into pak, super high, nice – 1/2 turn on low, back arch, pulls it back – nice final cast hs – giant full, slightly late into double tuck, slide back. 9.875

Florida goes 49.350 on vault, which is not a bad score but they won’t be super happy with the performance. Missouri 49.225 is solid.

SEC Network hitting the 10s chart this week.

Rotation 2

Schaefer – VT – Missouri – good distance, large bounce back, a little bit of pike on yfull.9.675

So this is 9.675 and Clark is 9.850?????? John calling out the hypocrisy of that.

Blakely – UB – Florida – good first hs – maloney to pak, a bit of legs on maloney, together on pak, hit 1/2 turn on low – solid final hs – toe 1/2 to front giant to double front, step forward. 9.825

McCrary – VT – Missouri – yfull, lunge back, some pike. 9.725

Nguyen – UB – Florida – maloney to pak, nice, very small leg break – slow 1/2 turn on low – a bit tight on final cast hs – FTDT, great stick. 9.925

Schreiber – VT – Missouri – yfull, better layout and control, small hop back. 9.825.

DiCello – UB – Florida – Ray, solid – good hs after – pak to toe on to van leeuwen, legs together well throughout – nice hs on high – FTDT, holds stick with a little lean forward. Pretty.

Davis – VT – Missouri – very large lunge forward on Y1.5, and additional movement. 9.700

DiCello gets a 10.000 on bars with that landing control lean. What a fun meet!

Thomas – UB – Florida – good first hs – maloney to pak, strong – good hs – toe on to van leeuwen – nailed hs on high – DLO, stuck landing. Well, it was better than DiCello’s.

9.950 for Trinity. Sure? I don’t know.

Moore – VT – Missouri – Excellent Y1.5, stuck landing, just some direction. Really good. Great position. 9.925. Or as we call it, a Florida 10.

Wong – UB – Florida – short first hs – maloney to pak, hit – van leeuwen, clean – DLO, stuck landing. 9.950 for her.

Celestine – VT – Missouri – good Y1.5, medium hop forward. 9.875

Richards – UB – Florida – maloney, lower with some legs – clean bail – his hs on high – DLO, legs apart, olds stick with a lean to the side. 9.850

OK, I have to pick myself up off the ground of that nonsense. Missouri goes 49.050 on vault, ended with some solid work from Moore and Celestine. Lost ground on the early vaults with some form and landing control, also scored nowhere like the Florida vaults were.

Meanwhile, Florida goes 49.675 on bars with a 10.000 for Dicello for a pretty routine that also had an obvious landing control issue on her dismount that was also the third-best routine of the rotation.

After 2:
Florida – 99.025
Missouri – 98.275

Rotation 3

Blakely – BB – Florida – aerial to bhs, quickly connected – switch to switch 1/2 to beat, secure, just some loss of foot position in the switch 1/2 – full turn wobble – gainer full, stuck. 9.850

Schreiber – FX – Missouri – rudi to back lay 2 feet to split jump is under control – front full to front lay to an afterthought stag jump, some amplitude deduction for that stag – switch full to split jump full. 9.800

Lazzari – BB – Florida – bhs loso loso, lovely – switch to split, well connected, good feet – aerial, small hesitation on landing – bhs 1.5, hop to the side. 9.775

Did the judges take a sobriety pill before the 2nd half? NEVER MIND

Kratzer – FX – Missouri – double tuck, some foot flexing, controls landing – switch side to popa, overturns the switch side some – 1.5 to layout, good layout position – double pike, chest double, a bit out of control on step back. 9.800

Nguyen – BB – Florida – onodi, connected quickly to bhs, lovely – hits y spin, bit of a pause beforehand – switch to split, solid – bhs 1.5, small hop forward. 9.875

McCrary – FX – Missouri – front lay to rudi, under control – switch side to popa, a bit crooked in switch side, nice popa – double pike, deep landing, lunge forward. 9.775

DiCello – BB – Florida – candle mount, good – wolf double, solid – switch to split – bhs loso, squeezes to hold it – aerial, strong – gainer full, little rebound. 9.975

It’s like they decided it was “DiCello’s turn” today rather than judging the routines.

Sheremeta – FX – Missouri – front 2/1, around, some bounce – switch side to popa, good height on switch side, got a little crooked on popa it appeared from this angle – rudi to a clean loso – back 1.5 to front loso, a little ragged in 1.5 position. Solid routine.

Thomas – BB – Florida – switch mount to split leap, nice – full turn, good – one-arm bhs to loso, nice – beat to korbut, nice – side aerial to 1.5, small movement on landing. Nice one.

“I think her foot moved”
“So yes, she will get the 10”

Love sassy John today.

And she gets a 10 for this one with a very not stuck dismount. Great news.

Moore – FX – Missouri – DLO, nice control on landing – chest down – switch 1/2 to popa to popa, exceptional height – front tuck through to double tuck, chest up, good control of front foot. 9.850

Wong – BB – Florida – switch to split leap, lovely – bhs loso, on, secure – aerial, great amplitude to beat jump – 2/1 dismount, small hop back. Wonderful on the beam. 9.850.This is the weirdest scored rotation.

Celestine – FX – Missouri – FTDT, controls step back, nice – split leap full to split jump full, good height, lower back legs on second element – 1.5 to layout, slide forward, but does pretty well to save control – double tuck, hit. 9.900

That Florida beam rotation judging was on so many drugs. Like, Wong and Lazzari’s scores felt actually surprisingly low (for expectations), and then they’re throwing out 10s to DiCello and Thomas for not sticking dismounts.

Wong’s score raised to 9.9 so nvm that one.

Florida 49.550 on beam, Missouri 49.200 on floor. Missouri is going to need one of those program record beams now to get a good counter here.

After 3:
Florida 148.625
Missouri 147.475

Rotation 4

I feel like if you put in all the scores and randomly assigned them to routines, it would make more sense that this meet. Leanne Wong’s beam score got raised after the rotation. That 9.900 actually makes sense. Not mad at that one.

Schaffer – BB – Missouri – full turn, hit – bhs bhs loso and falls, so not an ideal start there – aerial, hit – switch to split is solid – 1.5 dismount, holds onto the landing rebound, doesn’t really move – 9.250

DiCello – FX – Florida – front 2/1 with slide forward – switch ring to switch 1/2, nicely done – wolf double, good – back 1.5 to front lay, solid. 9.875

Lawrence – BB – Missouri – switch to split jump, secure – side aerial to bhs, held well – aerial, small hesitation, holds it as well – 1.5 dismount, small hop forward. 9.800

Baumann – FX – Florida – wolf double, precise – back 1.5 to front full, pulls it around at the end, some knee position – high straddles in switch side to straddle – double pike, softish knees, slide back. 9.900

McCrary – BB – Missouri – kickover to beat, good height on beat, solid work – bhs loso, under control – switch, small pause before split ring jump, check – beat to split jump – gainer pike, hop forward. 9.800

Richards – FX – Florida – DLO, hit, chest a bit forward, rebound to present – switch side to popa – back 1.5 to front full, controls her back foot – some leg form things throughout but one of her most solid routines. 9.900

Sheremeta – BB – Missouri – beat – bhs loso, chest a little down but nice leg form and a smooth landing – full turn – aerail to split jump to shushunova, good – gainer tuck full, stuck. Excellent. 9.925

There is a girl in the crowd in the background who is losing her mind around this bar in the stands.

Wong – FX – Florida – double arabian pike, her best landing on that this year, doesn’t have to cover coming in deep – switch 1/2 to popa to popa, nice straddle positions – back 1.5 to front full, good control on landing, clean positions. 9.975

Hu – BB – Missouri – swingdown mount is hit – y spin, hit – aerial to aerial, tries to bring it through to scale, ends up wobbling so much that she grabs the beam – remaining leaps are perfect – low on gainer full dismount with step forward. 9.675 is an actually impossible score with the beam touch for .300 and the dismount.

That’s actually the score I’m maddest about today.

Thomas – FX – Florida – DLO, perfect – split leap full to popa to popa, under control today, not her highest – front full to front lay, stuck. Well, that’s like a real life 10 at any meet.

LOL 9.975. Of course. Perfect. Wouldn’t have written it better.

Schreiber – BB – Missouri – full turn, hit – bhs loso loso, good hit – switch 1/2 to split jump is nice – beat to gainer full, stuck. 9.950

Blakely – FX – Florida – double arabian, solid landing, foot flexing – switch ring to switch 1/2, hit – switch ring, pretty solid closure – 1.5 to front lay is hit. A much better one from her, more form things than the last two. I kind of hope she gets a 10 for this just to put the crazy crown on top of this meet.

Another 9.975 for Blakely. Yes, that routine and Trinity’s were of the same level.

Missouri is done on 196.625. Not a bad road score, but another mid 196 and a missed opportunity for a huge number, even though I don’t think they got the same benefit of the doubt as Florida did.

Florida goes 49.725 on floor (just that) to get 198.350, the #2 score in the country so far.

FINAL:
Florida 198.350
Missouri 196.625

Congratulations, meet, you made the least sense of the season.

And now it’s time for LSU and Auburn.

Rotation 1

Groth – VT – Auburn – yfull pikes down, bounce back. 9.725

Jeffrey – UB – LSU – good first hs – maloney to pak, small leg break there – 1/2 turn on low, a bit late, maybe within 20 – good final cast hs – FTDT, suuuuper deep landing with a lunge forward. 9.675

Hubbard – VT – Auburn – very large bound forward on Y1.5, large lunge and additional slide. Still goes 9.800

Cowan – UB – LSU – hits first hs – Ray to overshoot, solid, some feet – maybes rushes final cast hs – DLO, step back. HUGE improvement over what we saw at Gym 101 in preseason. 9.775

Gobourne – VT – Auburn – Y1.5, we could see absolutely none of it, so that was fun. When will they learn. Good form in the air, small shuffle forward. 9.925

Tatum – UB – LSU – Ray, takes it very far but catches it, connects to pak, some form – 1/2 turn on low, a bit late – FTDT, with a bit of a stagger, hops heels together. 9.850

Lee – VT – Auburn – ro 1/2 on tuck 1/2, bounce back, loses a little form at the end. 9.850

Finnegan – UB – LSU – hecht mount – good hs – deltchev piked, very nice – hits hs – toe on to bail, nice vertical – hitting hs, nice toe point – double arabian, step forward. 9.875

Stevens – VT – Auburn – y1.5, holds the landing pretty well, small shuffle to the side – some direction, some knees, not the highest. 9.875

Shchennikova – UB – LSU – some hip angle in first hs – ray to pak, flexed feet in ray but good height – 1/2 turn on low is solid – Again a bit shy on hs on high – DLO, one of her best ones – still probably a tenth of piking to take in the air, but stuck and landed with better chest up. 9.825. Fair, and she’s also scored much higher for much worse.

Hollingsworth – VT – Auburn – hits a y1.5 – large lunge forward and a bit of direction. 9.875????

Bryant – UB – LSU – blind to jaeger, nice – good hs position – bail, clean vertical – blind to double front 1/2 out, stuck landing. Nice. 9.950

Auburn goes 49.325 on vault, which is a solid number for not-super-awesome landings overall and no sticks. LSU gets to 49.275 on bars thanks to the Bryant 9.950 but will trail Auburn after 1.

In other news, Kentucky went 197.125.

Rotation 2

HEY DAVE TILLEY.

Now we’re asking Kathy about Florida’s 10s. Silence on Trinity’s 10 when they showed the step forward.

Arenas – VT – LSU – good amplitude, slide back on yfull, piked down a little at the end. 9.800

Hollingsworth – UB – Auburn – some angle in first hs – toe on to maloney to bail, solid bail, some legs apart on maloney – good hs on high – FTDT, small hop back. 9.825

Shchennikova – VT – LSU – nearly holds the stick on her Y1.5, very good – step-salute back – some direction, little bit of knees. 9.925

McLaughlin – UB – Auburn – good first hs on low – maloney, fingertips it but fine into pak – good hs on high – giant full, gets hung up a little with a leg separation, still connects to double tuck, deep with a hop forward. 9.675

Finnegan – VT – LSU – beautiful and stuck Omelianchik. Very nice. Beautiful.

And she gets a 10.000.

Groth – UB – Auburn – good first hs – Ray, nice elbow extension – pak, hit – 1/2 turn on low – solid vertical hs – giant full to double tuck, stuck landing. That was her best one. 9.925

Brock – VT – LSU – lands deep on Y1.5, with a crossover lunge back. 9.700

Stevens – UB – Auburn – toe on to Ray, hit, feet – solid 2nd hs, good bail position – DLO, a bit whippy, nice stick. 9.900

KJ Johnson – VT – LSU – yfull she also lands uncharacteristically deep today, crunches down with a step. 9.725

Everyone for LSU is doing either their best of the season or their worst of the season.

Gobourne – UB – Auburn – tkatchev, hit into pretty pak – maybe rushes the 1/2 turn on low – short of final cast hs – FTDT, a bit of a stagger. 9.850

Bryant – VT – LSU – handspring pike 1/2, lands too chest forward today with a step into salute. Tried to sell it, but no. 9.900

Lee – UB – Auburn – blind to jaeger to pak to maloney to gienger is excellent – good final cast hs – FTDT, stuck.

10.000 there, no surprise. I didn’t think the handstands were quite as crisp as last week but also didn’t venture into the range of deduction.

“The head coach is Jay Clark, and she’s with Sam now.” DON’T LET JAY HEAR YOU SAY THAT.

LSU goes 49.350 on vault, Auburn 49.500 on bars.

After 2:
Auburn 98.825
LSU 98.625

Feel like we’re…..not done with the 10s tonight yet. Should be fun. These aren’t the worst 10s I’ve ever seen.

Rotation 3

Hollingsworth – BB – Auburn – full turn, hit – bhs loso, off line and falls – switch 1/2 to split jump to beat jump, hit – side aerial, secure – gainer full, arm wave with a lean to hold onto it. 9.325

Ballard – FX – LSU – DLO, chest up, controls step – 1.5 to layout, little rebound – switch ring to switch 1/2, good switch ring, a little lower on the 1/2 – double pike, chest down, secure. 9.825

Brusch – BB – Auburn – full turn, hit – aerial, keeps moving into split jump, a bit under – bhs loso, keeps it on, quick arm movement to secure – switch to straddle 1/4, low back leg on switch – gainer full, stuck. 9.850

Shchennikova – FX – LSU – front 2/1, hit, just a little under rotated – back 1.5 to layout, good long layout, straight position – switch ring to switch 1/2, maybe under but we’re also head on – rudi, a bit ragged into split jump, better control. She’s having one of her best days. 9.925

Stevens – BB – Auburn – bhs loso, hit, leg position – split jump to stag ring is nice – kickover to knee, solid today – wolf single – 1.5 dismount, with a slide forward into salute. 9.825

Brock – FX – LSU – double pike, a little forward, step to bring chest up – double tuck, bounce back, just does stay in bounds – switch side to popa is well done – back 1.5 to front full, hit. 9.775

Groth – BB – Auburn – bhs loso bhs, secure – switch to switch 1/2, hesitation and wobble, leg up – full turn, smooth – side aerial to tuck 1.5, deep landing with a lunge back and another step salute. Will have to count. 9.750, got away with that a bit.

KJ Johnson – FX – LSU – FTDT, good leg position and chest up, slide back – back 1.5 to front lay, crisp – switch side to popa, high – double tuck, bounce back. 9.875

McLaughlin – BB – Auburn – switch to bhs loso, lovely extension – beat to side aerial, right on – full turn – switch, small teeter to straddle 1/4 – gainer pike, little hop. 9.900

Finnegan – FX – LSU – double arabian to stag, great legs together position on her arabian – 2.5 to front tuck, stuck – switch ring to split full, nice – back 1.5 to front lay, dance out. I think that was better than last week.

9.975 today.

Lee – BB – Auburn – wolf double, hit, small lean forward to hold it – switch to switch 1/2, nice – side aerial to loso loso, solid – I’m glad they had her keep that in even going with a fall earlier – bhs gainer full, holds the landing. 9.950

Bryant – FX – LSU – double front, strong – front lay to rudi, chest up, controls step back – switch ring to switch 1/2, nice clear switch ring position – front 2/1, a little under, step back. 9.850

After 3:
Auburn 148.100
LSU 148.075

Tight one, but definite advantage to Auburn going to floor while LSU goes to its weak event.

Having Suni stand next to basketball people, +100 points.

Rotation 4

Arenas – BB – LSU – switch to split, shy back leg – bsh loso, hit, a bit of knee – kickover, holds it – switch 1/2, wobble, keeps it on the beam – 1.5 dismount, step forward. Tight one but hit. 9.750

Brusch – FX – Auburn – front tuck through to double tuck, little rebound, chest up – switch 1/2 to popa to wolf full, good lift – double pike, stuck landing, chest a bit down. 9.850

Shchennikova – BB – LSU – full turn – aerial, keeps moving (slowly) into bhs bhs – switch, some back leg into split, hit – side aerial, holds it, foot a little off line – gainer full, stuck. Yeah, I’m with Bart, this is her best meet ever. 9.850

Groth – FX – Auburn – front 2/1, controls the landing – switch 1/2 to wolf full, around – back 1.5 to lay, also controls, not the highest – rudi, little rebound. Solid. 9.900

Rivers – BB – LSU – moved from the leadoff spot – bhs loso, secure – switch 1/2, small check –  switch, some back leg, into straddle 1/4, high – 2/1, solid landing. 9.900

Hollingsworth – FX – Auburn – open FTDT, just a little forward – switch 1/2 to popa, hit – front tuck through to double tuck, small slide back. 9.900. Get ready,

Ballard – BB – LSU – bhs loso, check – full turn, hit – sissone to swtich 1/2, very short back leg on sissone and under on the switch 1/2 – kickover, arm wave check – 1.5, lunge forward. 9.825. I had 9.650.

Stevens – FX – Auburn – front lay to rudi, some position on layout, good rudi and landing – split leap full to wolf full, clearly around – double tuck, controlled. 9.850

Bryant – BB – LSU – aerial to bhs, well done – switch to straddle 1/4, good back leg on both – front with a check – split – rudi dismount, stuck. 9.900

Lee – FX – Auburn – I feel like this meet has rung long purely because we’ve had too many Suni featurettes – DLO, small movement of the front foot but her best chest up position – switch ring to split leap full, around – back 1.5 to front full, best position on that pass in college gym – controls the step.

And it’s 9.975.

Finnegan – BB – LSU – candle 1/2 mount, hit – bhs loso loso, right on, such good amplitude – switch to split, hit – aerial, held well – gainer full, holds landing with a lean forward correction. 9.950

Gobourne – FX – Auburn – open double tuck, very good landing – switch side to popa – front full to front lay, covers the dance out slide a little – double pike, bounce back.

LSU goes 49.225 on beam to finish on a fairly useful 197.300 road score.

9.975 for Gobourne. It wasn’t one of her 10s, but they wanted to give it so badly.

Auburn 49.650 floor, 197.750 final.

  1. The sound going in and out must be an ESPNU issue, because now I’m on SEC and it’s fine.

  2. Wow! Judges must be making it up to Trinity for not giving her a 10 on bars. Judges saw that foot slide 😉 Kayla clearly got lucky!

      1. Trinity could have easily had a 10 and bars and should have definitely had one on floor, so she was unlucky twice.

  3. the site has been giving me so much trouble this week, wont open at all on my phone, and taking almost 8 minutes just to load a page on my computer and its killin meeee, i can’t get through fridays without you!!

  4. Oh my goodness what is the deal with the judges in this FL meet 🤦🏼‍♀️
Trinity should have gotten a 10 on floor. I’m baffled!!! Do they not want her to get the record?

  5. does alyona’s “double layout” off bars bother anyone else as much as it does me? its a double pike! how do they give it the proper difficulty and not deduct is BEYOND me.
