Much to focus on from the initial batch of meets with the Missouri/Alabama dual, Michigan hosting Stanford and trying to show us that last week wasn’t real, Florida’s season debut, and Clemson’s program debut. A buffet-style Friday.

From the scores, looks like Florida’s opening vault lineup is Draser, Pilgrim, Wong, Blakely, Ferris, Edwards. No Lazzari or Nguyen as of now.

Rotation 1

Jordan opens vault for Michigan with a yfull, pretty close to the table but a laid out position, hop in place, some chest forward. 9.850 a very high start for that vault, which started at 9.950 and should have had at least a tenth for distance.

Dean UB – Stanford – hits Ray, pak, legs looked well together – giant full, pretty solid finish position, chest well forward on double tuck dismount, step.

Sears opens vault for Alabama with a very large bounce back on her yfull. 9.750, so they only took the .2 for the landing.

Guggino up 2ns on vautl for Michigan nearly holds onto the stick on her Y1.5, small step forward. They needed that. 9.875

Karis German holds onto the landing of her yfull for Alabama, comes in chest forward with a lean. 9.825

Draser starts vault for Florida with a hit y1.5, a little short, step back. 9.850

Mulligan with a medium lunge forward on her Y1/5 for Michigan, some leg separation in the air.

Hudson vault Alabama, y1.2 comes up a bit short with a shuffle hop back

Pilgrim 2nd on vault for Florida, solid Y1.5, medium bounce forward, showed good direction. Nice potential.

Burns – UB – Miccousi – jaeger, hit with a bit of feet, connected to a good high overshoot, short cast hs on high – DLO, stuck. Nice.

Brenna Neault off bars for Stanford ona  giant full and continuing to have some trouble.

LaCoursiere vaulting for Alabama, another very large lunge forward on Y1.5

Moore – UB – Missouri – nice height on tkatchev, nearly stuck her FTDT, but leaned back and had a shuffle and then an additional step trying to hold the finish position. 9.725, and a lot of that on dismount control.

Morrison – VT – Michigan – medium bound forward on y1.5 and then another little hop.

Blanco – VT – Alabama – a lunge forward on her Y1.5 but smaller than several of the others.

Schreiber – UB – Missouri – maloney to bail, hit, slight angle – small arch in cast hs on high – DLO, hop back. Solid.

I think I ended up counting four falls from Neault on bars there in the end?

Gladieux – VT – Alabama – yfull, great height of course, hop back.

Titarsolej – UB – Missouri – good first hs – maloney, legs together well, connected to bhardwaj, nice – 1/2 turn position on low bar is EXCELLENT – giant full on hop of the high bar – double tuck dismount, a bit of direction and an arm swim on landing to hold it. Lovely opening to the routine.

We have a nearly stuck Y15 from Sierra Brooks for Michigan, little hop forward. They’ll get to 49.475 there, which is a big improvement over last week.

Also Brooks got 9.975 for an obvious non-stick. Extremely charitable judging.

Sorry, that was Neault earlier on bars, not Roberts. Brain fart on my part.

And Stanford only put up five on bars and one of them was Neault’s 7.400. STANFORD why do you do this to us. You are such a talented roster.

Anyway, the pace of the Florida meet is one vault every millennium, so there have only been 3 so far.

Blakely is up 4th for Florida, pretty solid Y1.5, comes up a little short with a hop back. 9.825

Alabama went 49.125 on vault, which is a big escape to go over 49 with so many large lunges. Missouri on just 48.950 on bars.

Ferris – VT – Florida – nice potential on her Y1.5, good distance and direction, little bit of soft knees, hop forward, and then another little hop to try to control.

Alabama and Missouri in the 2nd rotation. Lacoursiere on bars with a lovely malone y to pak – van leeuwen, legs together – toe on to FTDT, stuck landing. That was excellent. 9.925.

Rayna Light with nice amplitude on yfull for Missouri, bounce back.

Vore falls on Tkatchev in the seocnd spot for Michigan on bars.

Pawlak with a hit 2nd for Alabama on bars, legs apart on DLO, step back.

Gabby Wilson low on her piked jaeger in the third spot with some flexed feet and elbows, but catches and worts through it, nice DLO, small step.

Florida ended up going 49.275 on vault, a very January set of landings but also a very friendly-confines score outlook.

Celestine with a huge Y1.5 on vault for Missouri, hop forward. 9.875. Shame there was no room left to reward the amplitude there because it should have been differentiated from other 1.5s in that regard.

Waligora sticks her DLO on bars in the 4th spot for Alabama as that rotation continues going smoothly.

We have an opening rotation score from Clemson on 48.875 for vault. Well on their way to crushing that Arkansas 2003 first-meet mark of 193.3

Doggette – UB – Alabama – nice ehight on tkatchev to pak – a bit shy on final cast hs on high – DLO, stick. Still struggling with the finish position because she celebrated before showing it, which you’re not supposed to do, but I don’t think they’ll take anything.

Jocelyn Moore for Missouri, medium hop forward on Y1.5. Yet still goes 9.925.

Brooks for Michigan on bars, hits piked jaeger – toe on to bail, very nice – good hs on high – DLO 1/1, small hop back.

Nice stuck FTDT from Blanco to anchor bars for Alabama.

Blanco gets 9.950 on bars, putting Alabama on 49.550 and taking a lead of more than three tenths on Missouri after 2 rotations.

Michigan went 49.225 on bars to be on 98.700 after 2 events.

Talladega’s program opening beam score is 47.150. We can compare to last year’s starts when we had Fisk on 46.650, Simpson, on 46.850, and Greenville on 46.025 to start their histories on beam.

Fisk, meanwhile, records a program record 48.075 bars score to start the season.

Disidore hits on bars for Florida to lead off, a little shy on DLO with a step forward.

Gladieux opens beam for Alabama – bhs lay-pike, some leg separation in the air but a secure landing – small hesitation on ful;l turn – aerial, keeps arms moving to beat jump – switch to split, nice – 1.5 dismount, holds the landing with an arm wave. 9.750

Mulligan starts beam for Michigan – pretty cat leap to aerial to bhs, very smooth – beat to straddle 1/2, also well done – side aerial, secure – finishes tuck 1.5 dismount, step forward

Blakely – UB – Florida – maloney to pak, solid – hits hs on 1/2 turn on low bar – a bit of elbows here and there – double front dismount, overcooks it with a large lunge forward. 9.575, yeouch. Wondering if she also clipped the bar then or something.

Rybicki on beam for Alabama with a wobble on a full turn, small foot list on bhs loso and some knee position, cat leap to switch 1/2, gets the secure landing – 1.5 dismount, holds the stick. 9.800

Nice control on her handspring pike 1/2 vault for Whitman from George Washington, just a little slide.

Nguyen – UB – Florida – maloney to pak, lovely, legs together – 1/2 turn on low bar, a bit late – rushes cast hs on high – DLO, floaty, step back.

Scores at the Michigan meet stopped after the first rotation. Did Stanford’s bars break them?

Burgess – BB – Alabama – one-arm bhs to loso, small lean, covers – side aerial, another small check – switch to beat, lovely – cat leap to switch side, arm wave – gainer pike, stuck. Was fighting it with like three checks but kept the errors small. Covers enough to get 9.875

Michigan has 9.825 Mulligan, 9.775 Guggino, and 9.850 Wilson on beam so far I believe.

Shania Adams has to cover her triple wolf on beam, takes the third turn to her knee with a little arm wavy check. Solid loso series – switch to split with an arm wave – 1.5 dismount, hop forward. 9.700

Horton on floor for Missouri with nice height on a FTDT – good height on switch side but well under a split position – front tuck to 2.5, excellent landing. 9.900

Pilgrim goes 9.875 on her debut bars for Florida,

Hudson – BB – Alabama – aerial, keeps moving to bhs loso, holds onto it – swtich to beat, a ltitle shy, small arm wave correction – 1.5 dismount, a little low, hop.

And Alyssa Arana overbalances her first hs on bars for Florida and comes off. Resumes with toe on to maloney to pak, and misses her hand on her pak and slams down onto the mat pretty hard. Being looked at now.

Celestine on FX for Missouri, good control on FTDT landing – got really low on her second pass, front lay to front full, very short landing on front full with a lunge. Double tuck, a little forward, ho.

Brooks – BB – Michigan – bhs loso loso, right on – switch to beat, hit – kickover, right on – bhs 2/1 dismount, some leg crossing, holds the landing. Very good.

Blanco – BB – Alabama – coming after two 9.700s – aerial, lovely – bhs loso, loso, great, good toe point – switch to beat, solid – 1.5 dismount, out fo frame, looked like a little movement.

Clemson went 49.225 on bars with a 9.900 from Lippeatt.

Looks like Sandra Jessen from Stanford hurt herself on her final floor pass. She’s limping off.

Leanne Wong with a hit on bars but a bounce back on her DLO.

Moore finish floor for Missouri with an excellent front tuck through to double tuck.

Michigan goes 49.325 on beam to get well over 197 pace heading to floor.

Blanco saves Alabama’s beam rotation with a 9.925 to put them on 49.050 there, losing ground to Missouri’s 49.250 on floor but staying ahead overall.

After 3:
Alabama 147.725
Missouri 147.575

Florida gets 9.825 for Wong, drops Arana’s score but has to count Blakely’s for a 48.950 on bars.

Marshall opens beam for Missouri in the final roation – with a solid aerial to bhs – kickover with a check – full turn, small adjustment – split, little pause before double stag – stuck gainer full. 9.700

Draser hits beam to start for Florida, some knee positions in a few places, hop forward on 1.5 dismount. 9.875

Titarsolej up 2nd for Missouri on beam, bhs loso, large break, elegants her foot back onto the beam quickly – illusion to split jump – large break on L turn, bend at the hips

Anya Pilgrim rolled right threw her opening candle mount onto her stomach, so we’ll see what they do with that.

Scores are flying in Arkansas early, Williams 9.900 for a y1.5 with a full step forward. Georgia scores soaring on bars. Scott up 5th for them, nice Ray to pak combination, van leeuwen, caught – DLO, holds onto the landing with a lean. And gets 9.950 for it.

Anya Pilgrim gets 9.850 on beam, so you can take candle mounts to your stomach and it’s fine.

Hurd – BB – Florida – aerial to bhs, smooth – beat to loso, good toe point, also secure – switch, small foot replacement before straddle jump, lovely straddle – full turn, wobble – 2/1, hop to the side. If that’s her starting point for the season, it’s a good place. Interested to see what they do with the foot replacement between the switch and the straddle. I think they did nothing. 9.800.

Lily Smith hot another good bars for Georgia, but a step on dismount this time, 9.875.

Georgia goes 49.425 on bars to lead Arkansas’s 49.225 on vault.

Michigan’s first two floors have been 9.925, en route to a mid 197 at this point.

Lazzari – BB – Florida – bhs loso los, hit – switch to split, lovely 180 positions – aerial – gainer full, holds onto stick.

And she goes 9.975. Leanne it is your time.

Morrison on floor for Michigan in the 4th spot, little foot split on her FTDT first pass – front tuck to double tuck, is slightly chest down with a step. I’m sure she’ll get a 9.925 as well like the first three.

Nguyen – BB – Florida – onodi, keeps moving enough into bhs – switch to split leap, hit – 1.5 dismount is short with a pretty large slide back. 9.775

Brooks – FX – Michigan – open FTDT, excellent, controls her step – split leap full to jump full, looked a little off balance on landing from this angle – front tuck to double tuck, right on. Well, a lot better than the 9.925s we’ve seen earlier in the lineup.

Alabama has three 9.875s on floor and is pulling away from a shaky Missouri beam rotation.

Wong – BB – Florida – switch mount to split, nice – bhs loso, secure – wolf double with arm wavies – aerial, holds onto it – 2/1 dismount, slide back.

And Brooks got a 10.000. You saw it coming…

Wilson finishing the day for Michigan on floor, another nailed FTDT – love when you’re trying to see her leap series but it’s actually a closeup of a loose butt cheek – front lay to rudi, bounce back, a little steppy into the corner. So that won’t be a 10. Would have been a Michigan floor record if it had been.

9.925 for Wong takes Florida to 49.425 on beam.

Schreiber will finish the day for Missouri on beam – bhs loso loso, right on – switch 1/2 to split jump is good – beat to gainer full, holds it. Will save the score a bit. 9.950

Gladieux ends the meed for Alabama on floor, high FTDT, lands chest a bit forward and has to adjust – rudi to straddle jump, a little bit of travel but holds onto it.

Missouri ends up on 196.475, though it could have been a lot stronger if not for that shaky final beam. Alabama ends up on 197.175, about right on where they were last week.

Stanford recovers with a final two rotations of 49.3s, but it was still just a recovery to get to 193.325 after that bars adventure. Michigan finishes on 197.725, which will help the ranking quite a bit.

Georgia vaults five, with Wahl the only one breaking the 9.8 marker, so Georgia is on 48.750 there to fall behind Arkansas’s pace.

Arkansas finishes the bars rotation with Maddie Jones, hits piked jaeger, lets together well, good height on pak – a bit late on 1/2 turn on low bar – DLO, solid. 9.875 and a 49.325 bars for Arkansas to take a 98.550-98/150 lead on Georgia after two.

Auburn and Kentucky is underway, and Auburn already has a 9.900 on vault from Schumaker. Sara Hubbard is up third for them, y1.5, short landing with a quick, medium-size bounce back with both feet. 9.775

Reigert – UB – kentucky – good height on jaeger – toe on to bail, solid toe point – FLO, some piking, nearly sticks, step back. 9.750

Huff – VT – Auburn – Y1.5 with a medium bounce forward, solid.

Procasky – UB – Kentucky – maloney to pak, hit, leg separation on pak – 1/2 turn on low bar is solid – DLO, doesn’t hold her finish position under control before the step, otherwise nice. 9.850

Revised Alabama score has them finishing on 197.050 now.

Hollingsworth – VT – Auburn – hits her y1.5, hop forward. 9.875

Bunn – UB – Kentucky – blind to jaeger, flexed feet but hit – rushed a little on cast hs on high, nice bail position, clear vertical – solid final cast hs position – DLO, holds onto the stick. 9.800

Stevens – VT – Auburn – very similar to Hollingsworth, hit Y1.5 with a hop forward. Also 9.875

Worley – UB – Kentucky – good first hs – clear hip to tkatchev, hit – pak, nice form – 1/2 turn on low, good vertical, a bit of loose back position – gets up to vertical on final cast hs – FTDT, holds the landing. Good. 9.925

After 1:
Auburn 49.275
Kentucky 49.175

Meanwhile, Brubach starts Florida on floor with 9.875. Draser is up 2nd, front tuck to double tuck, secure landing, flexed feet through the double tuck – wolf double is solid – switch ring to switch 1/2, ring was a little flat from this angle – double pike, also controls the step, chest a bit down. 9.850

Clemson a few routines away from blowing away the 196 mark at its first meet.

Richards is up third for Florida on floor – DLO, chest down, step forward -final pass is back 1.5 to front full with a crossover step.

Eryn Williams started well on floor for Georgia but she falls on her final double tuck, meaning they’re already counting a 9.725 for LaClair. Four routines to go.

Now Lauren Williams on beam for Arkansas – bhs loso, hit, a bit of knee position – switch to straddle 1/4, nicely done – kickover pike, slide back, keeps it on the beam with a wobble – 1.5 dismount, little hop forward.

Auburn is opening bars with a basically-a-fall from Hannah Hagle, who was way close on her pak and had to muscle out and take extra swings. 9.200

Hollingsworth follows her in the 2nd spot – small back looseness on first hs – piked jaeger is hit – bail, good vertical, leg separation on catch – hits final cast hs on high – FTDT, sticks.

Anya Pilgrim went 9.925 for her first floor, and Nguyen follows her in the 5th spot – front 2/1, gets it around, tries to connect to a sissone which was kind of an adventure – switch ring to switch 1/2, good swtich 1/2 – y turn – back 1.5 to front lay, some slide. Another 9.925 here.

Cashman is up 4th on floor for Georgia – back 1.5 to front full, crossover step, runs to the side a little – double tuck, short landing, lunge forward. 9.750, which is Georgia’s third counting 9.7 on floor.

Hurd – FX – Florida – front lay to rudi, a bit of a stagger on landing – switch ring to switch 1/2, nice – finishes double pike, some feet, step back, keeps it in bounds.

It’s 9.875 for Hurd to take Florida to 49.450 on floor and a final of 197.100. That will be Florida’s lowest total since a 196.975 in January of 2022.

Park will anchor the Arkansas beam lineup – hits full turn – bhs loso loso, large arm wave wobble but keeps it on – switch to switch is hit – 1.5 dismount, holds onto the landing.

And Clemson is done with a 196.325 first meet score. So that’s something.

Lily Smith finishes floor for Georgia – they do now have a 9.850 from Ady Wahl, who is carrying them today  – front 2/1, very good landing control – back 1.5 to layout, some leg separation in the layout – switch side, overturns a little into wolf full, can’t quite get up on the wolf full – rudi to straddle jump, shows control.

Smith goes 9.925 to get Georgia up to 49.000 on floor, which is a miracle compared to where the rotation started. Arkansas has a 9.725 from Park which has to count after a Linton miss, so they’re just on 49.025 from that third rotation.

After 3:
Arkansas 147.575
Georgia 147.175

Auburn is able to drop the Hagle 9.200 on bars and go 49.200 overall, but that loses ground to Kentucky’s 49.275 on vault.

After 2:
Kentucky 98.550
Auburn 98.475

Rotation 3 underway in Auburn, Hollingsworth starting on beam – full turn, hit – bhs loso, right on – switch 1/2 to split jump small adjustment after split jump, a bit under on front foot on switch 1/2 – bhs gainer full, holds stick. Good start.

Rodriguez – FX – Kentucky – front 2/1, controls step, some leg crossing – switch ring to split leap full, good switch ring, a little lower on switch full – double tuck, good chest up – back 1.5 to 1/2 to straddle.

Ady Wahl leads off beam for Georgia with a small check on her loso series – a larger break on the side side somi, lean forward – 1.5 dismount, hop forward. 9.725

Brusch up 2nd on beam for Auburn has a big bend at the hips break on her series – finishes gainer full hop back. 9.650

Funny watching that back to back with Wahl because Brusch’s was the stronger routine of the two.

Gamiao – FX – Georgia – double pike, bounce back – 1.5 through to 2/1, little hop to the side – switch 1/2 to popa, a little low on switch 1/2, good popa – double tuck, solid, a little foot movement. 9.850

Fitzgerald – BB – Georgia – bhs loso and a big fall, way off line, scrapes her leg against the side of the beam – check on full turn – switch side, tight but hit – barani, check – 1.5 dismount stuck. 9.075

That fall happened simultaneously with Huff falling on her series for Auburn, so both working with counting a low one in the first half of the rotation. 9.250 for Huff.

Klein – FX – Arkansas – front loso to double tuck, slide back – switch side to popa, really good height in those elements, overturns the switch side – double pike, chest down, quick hop to present – 9.850

Battle – BB – Georgia – full turn, hit – split jump 1/2 from side, nicely done – hits jump combo – kickover pike, arm check, breaks connection to beat jump – bhs loso, step back, keeps it on the beam – bhs gainer full, step back. Fought to stay in it. 9.850

Groth showed a very nice beam hit for Auburn in the 4th spot there. 9.900

Jones – FX – Arkansas – front 2/1, looks like she just does control the step – switch ring to kind of a low switch 1/2 – back 1.5 to front lay –  rudi, some leg crossing, controlled landing. And 9.925.

Turner – BB – Georgia – bhs loso loso is very solid – switch to split jump, gets to 180 – 1.5 dismount, hop forward. Good. 9.850

Stevens with kind of a large wobble on her acro series, turn to the side and arm wave

Leah Smith – FX – Arkansas – front loso to double tuck, shortish landing with a hop forward and some flexed feet – switch side to popa – double pike, controlled landing. And it’s 9.900

Creslyn Brose finishes floor for Kentucky with a lovely front 2/1, good foot positions throughout. 9.950 for her.

Lily Smith – BB – Georgia – aerial, lovely into bhs bhs – switch, arm wave walks through a connected split jump, keeps moving but some adjustments – kickover, small squeeze – full turn, wobble, overturns by a 1/4 – gainer full, holds onto landing control. 9.850

McLaughlin finishes Auburn’s beam with a hit so they’ll be able to go over 49 there.

Worley finishes Kentucky on floor – rebound on her FTDT, good height – switch ring to switch side – front full to front lay, shows control – double tuck, good height and chest position. 9.950

Scott – BB – Georgia – Can get Georgia a 196 today with a hit – front handspring, pause before bhs loso but does the skills – aerial to split jump to bhs is solid – split leap to switch, hit – fhs to front full dismount, step forward. 9.900

Georgia goes 49.175 on beam to finish on 196.350, a bit up on the first meet score.

Price – FX – Arkansas – DLO, good, steps out a bit quickly – switch side and a 1/4 to popa to popa, so high – front full to front lay, controls the step out. Another 9.950.

Arkansas goes 49.575 on floor to end on 197.150 for its season opener.

Meanwhile, Kentucky went 49.500 on floor at Auburn to extend its lead compared to Auburn’s 49.125 on beam.

After 3:
Kentucky 148.050
Auburn 147.600

Rotation 4

Rodriguez – BB – Kentucky – switch to split jump, solid – bhs bhs loso, secure landing, some knee position in the first bhs – side somi, very good – 1.5 dismount, holds onto the stick with a lean. Good opener. 9.850

Brusch – FX – Auburn – front tuck through to double tuck, chest a bit forward with a step – switch 1/2 to popa to wolf full – double pike, chest down again but mostly controls her step back. 9.850

Gormley – BB – Kentucky – switch side, a little crooked on the 180 – aerial, holds it – bhs loso, nice form, wobble, front leg up – switch to straddle 1/4, nice – bhs 1.5 dismount, nearly finds the stick, step back. 9.750

Huff – FX – Auburn – FTDT, good amplitude, WORKS to keep that front big toe down on the landing – switch ring to split leap full, good – front lay to rudi, like how the rudi rose from the front lay, but lands chest down. 9.850

Bunn – BB – Kentucky – full turn, hit – bhs loso loso, secure – switch to split, hit – 2/1, took it pretty close to the beam, but fine and finds the stick. Good. And 9.950.

McLaughlin – FX – Auburn – back 1.5 to front lay, not too large on the step but goes out flat horizontal on the layout – split leap full to wolf jump 1.3675 – gets a little lost in the turns there – double pike, good control on landing. 9.900

Patterson – BB – Kentucky – full turn – bhs loso, arm wave correction – aerial, keeps moving into split jump, a bit of body position correction – cat leap to switch side, nice attention to flexibility – gainer pike, holds onto the landing. 9.850

Groth – FX – Auburn – front 2/1, good landing, controls the step – switch 1/2 to wolf full, good clear element positions – back 1.5 to front lay, solid, controlled step – rudi, keeps front foot down. Very good. Feel like that’s her best floor since her freshman year? Maybe? 9.900.

Worley – BB – Kentucky – cat leap to switch side, hit – aerial to bhs loso, super solid landings, some knee position – full turn gets a little leany – 1.5 dismount, good stick. 9.900

Stevens – FX – Auburn – front lay to rudi, under control, some soft leg positions – split leap full to wolf full – double tuck, overdoes it a bit, large lunge back, keeps it in bounds. 9.850

Magnelli – BB – Kentucky – bhs loso loso, so fast – switch to a super high straddle 1/4 – aerial, probably lower than she meant but holds onto it securely – gainer pike, stuck. Good. 9.875

Hollingsworth – FX – Auburn – FTDT is very strong in the air, slide back on landing – switch 1/2 to popa – front tuck through to double tuck, good tuck position, controls the landing.

Kentucky finishes on 197.475, a very strong score for them for the second meet and a very useful road number for any time of year.

Hollingsworth’s 9.925 takes Auburn over the 197 mark for a 197.025, which is also a good result for their ranking at this point.

    1. Standford’s mascot is a tree because “Palo Alto” translates to something like “Tall Tree”.

  1. I’ll make a ridiculously overeager and premature claim just so I can say I was the first to say so if I’m right: Clemson will be a national champion within 10 years

    1. Not likely.

A 196. score for them was VERY generous, but first meet and first home meet so gotta give the fans what they want.

Nice gymnastics, but they are not a 196 team…yet.

Let’s see what they do in an away meet.

  2. The judges don’t even care when Morgan Hurd looks like shit. They base the results on her successful Elite career and not what she is showing on the floor.

  3. Anyone know the status of Naya Howard and Holly Snyder for UGA? Snyder looked good at First Look and Howard still had a knee brace last week, but no crutches and was jumping around cheerleading quite a bit. Getting those two in lineups would be huge for UGA.

  4. The absolute disdain Spencer has for Georgia is hilarious. They have underperformed lately and have injury concerns often (as do other teams, as well), but they still have some gymnasts with beautiful form. You might not know it from BBS though and as a UF fan, I’m loving it!

    1. He is a total UF ass kisser. Of course you love it.

Morgan Hurd is over scored based on her elite repertoire. Florida fans suck.

      1. BBS and Gymcastic both love Florida and UCLA. The fact that Rowland has no heat or pressure on her job is crazy to me. UF has underperformed every year under her and they’ve had major injury issues too. Yet this site and others only go after Kupets and Clark for underperforming and injuries.

      2. UF has NOT underperformed every year under Rowland.
They have been national finalist every year with her except for 2019 with the fluke regionals performance (which they should still have advanced- Oregon State was overscored at home regionals). They were runner up in 2022 and 2023. They should have been national champions last year, as Oklahoma got some favors, especially on bars. So arguably they were robbed of the title last year. Had Thomas been able to do beam and floor, they would have easily won.
Florida’s injuries are in line with a majority of the other programs. Hurd and McCusker not withstanding, as they were injured while elite. Which is the risk when you go with elite gymnasts over level 10s. Florida also is winning SEC titles. Only 1 team can win a national championship each year. Just because you don’t win the national title doesn’t mean you aren’t successful.

    2. Georgia is warranted though, CKC has shown for years that she can’t manage a team. They were stupid to get rid of Durante, who was charged with making them national contenders again after Clark messed everything up. There were a few athletes that didn’t want to work hard to be those national contenders, Durante let them go, they complained, and Durante got the ax. Funny when Yoculan was cutthroat with her athletes, the AD looked the other way because they were winning championships.

      1. Durante?!?! I would think people would look at her record and realize she’s not a good head coach. Cal drastically improved when she left and UNC is barely making regionals under her. I can’t imagine any team with Nationals hopes bringing her in. Honestly, UGA should have never fired Clark. I think he would have been a much better option than Durante or Kupets.

Kupets has struggled. I wouldn’t have hired her due to the lack of experience. That being said, while the injury situation is concerning, she’s recruiting well and has some great athletes on this team. Scott and Howard have been under appreciated by the gymternet (hopefully Howard can return). Smith and Wahl both look phenomenal as freshman. If vault doesn’t improve this year, I would hope they would hire a new vault coach. That’s the biggest issue it seems. Although, it sounds like Smith could have vaulted this week and UGA just played it safe.

      2. UNC improved drastically once she got there.

Cal didn’t have the finances when she was there. The team was nearly cut.

Clark?? LOL he took the team from national champions to bottom of the barrel.
Did you forget that the reigning team champions failed to make nationals the next year, his first year as head coach?
He failed to take his team to the Super 6 in his tenure as coach.
The very next year when Durante took over, they were back in the Super 6.
Unfortunately, Jay’s mismanagement of a championship team cost them their reputation, and they lost top recruits because of it.
Durante was righting the ship, but had too many holes to plug.

Clark took LSU, who was a runner up at Nationals the last few years under DD, and ruined them. They got lucky last year to make finals because they never should have advanced from regionals.

Clark is a fantastic recruiter but a horrible head coach.

    3. Georgia, with how many national championships cannot even put up a full line up of 6 on vault for the last two meets.

      That is tragic.

  5. I thought the Alabama and Missouri meet should have been closer. Missouri bar scores were lower than they should have compared to what Bama put up in the following rotation.
Bama vault scores were also quite high, specifically Sears (9.750 for the big bounce back and leg lunge) and LaCoursiere (9.825 for large lunge back) especially considering the FTY from Missouri were a bit better. Schreiber only .025 from LaCoursiere for a much better performed and nearly stuck vault).

Missouri gave up too much on beam and are really missing their core group (Sheremeta, Hu, McCrary)

      1. She graduated last year. Didn’t take her Covid year or her red shirt year.
She was originally a red-shirt junior last year, but mid year her bio changed from red-shirt junior to senior, then she graduated.
