Have we recovered from yesterday? No?

I, for one, welcome our new Ball State overlords.

For reference, we’re now at fourteen 10.000s for the season so far. Last year, it took until February 3rd to get to fourteen 10.000s. Where there’s a will, there’s a way.

Rotation 1

LaClair – VT – Georgia – hits yfull, some leg separation at the end, bounce back. 9.750

Burns – UB – Missouri – blind to jaeger, hit, some feet on catch, connects to overshoot – a bit tight on final cast hs – DLO, stuck. Solid. 9.825

Cashman – VT – Georgia – yfull, similar, some piking, medium bounce back. 9.775

Light – UB – Missouri – toe on to maloney, hit – to pak, lot of arch but fine – solid cast hs on high – DLO, small step, solid, some pike positions at the beginning. 9.800

Scott – VT – Georgia – into the vault lineup – with her knee mummification – solid height, loses leg position at the end, some direction, shuffle back. 9.825

Patrick – UB – Missouri – blind to jaeger, hit – bail, looks like she gets to vertical – just a couple foot and small leg break things – pretty layout shape on DLO, stuck. 9.850

Battle – VT – Georgia – hits her Y1.5, pretty large hop forward and to the side, some direction, did land in the lines but still a direction deduction. 9.775

Moore – UB – Missouri – good first hs – toe on to a high tkatchev to overshoot – borderline final cast hs on high – FTDT, step back. 9.800

Finnegan – VT – Georgia – hits her Y1.5, nice in the air but ended up with a larger bounce forward and then an additional small hop that will take away another .05. 9.775

Schrieber – UB – Missouri – maloney to bail, legs together nicely – DLO is nice in the air but a full tenth bounce back. 9.800

Wahl – VT – Georgia – best 1.5 of the rotation so far, medium hop forward still, solid distance. 9.875

Titarsolej – UB – Missouri – maloney to pak, lovely – hits vertical on 1/2 turn on low – giant full, good finish into double tuck, stuck, nice. And 9.975.

Parker does a yfull in exhibition on vault, while Horton does exhibition on bars, lovely form on pak, but handstands probably not there yet to get into lineup.

After 1:
Missouri 49.250
Georgia 49.025

Wahl gets Georgia into the 49s there. Three 10.0 starts in that lineup but some big bounces out. Missouri perfectly solid but average scores on bars, and then Titarsolej brings up the total.

Rotation 2

Schreiber – VT – Missouri – nice stick on her full, chest a little forward and we’ll see more distance, but great landing. 9.850. That’s what I would have gone but feels low compared to Georgia vault scores.

Cashman – UB – Georgia – hits tkatchev, short hs on high – toe on to bail, good vertical position there – missing the hs a little but otherwise solid, good form on DLO but a full tenth bounce back. 9.800

Light – VT – Missouri – yfull, bigger distance than Schreiber but some more pike and a bounce back. 9.800

Fitzgerald – UB – Georgia – small arch hesitation in first hs – toe on – tkatchev to overshoot, hit – another bit of loose back in cast hs – DLO, small step back. 9.750

Davis – VT – Missouri – excellent height and position in the air on yfull – bounce back. 9.825

Wahl – UB – Georgia – hit first hs – maloney to pak, good amplitude – leg break and hesitation in 1/2 turn on low – short cast hs on high – good DLO stick. 9.825

Horton – VT – Missouri – lands short on her Y1.5, pretty large lunge back. 9.775 pretty high there.

Finnegan – UB – Georgia – hits first hs – Ray is SUPER close, lots of elbow but works through it – toe on – straddled pak – FTDT, little hop. 9.725

Celestine – VT – Missouri – huge distance on y1.5, small hop forward. 9.900

Scott – UB – Georgia – Ray to Pak, excellent extension – van leeuwen, leg separation – DLO, a bit short, hop. 9.875

Moore – VT – Missouri – nearly sticks her y1.5, small step back, a bit of direction. Gets 9.950

Smith – UB – Georgia – hits first hs – maloney to bail, nice – good hs on high – FTDT, stuck. Let’s see where we go. Legs together, toes pointed throughout.

And we’ve gone to 10.000. Be Just Fully Nastia, Get A 10.

After 2:
Missouri 98.575
Georgia 98.275

Missouri extends the lead there, but Georgia got the score they needed from Smith on their best event to stay in it.

Rotation 3

Wahl – BB – Georgia – bhs bhs loso, knees in first bhs, check – full turn, second check – side somi, holds onto it with arm wave – beat to straddle jump 3/4, secure – 1.5 dismount, a bit short, step back. 9.775

Schreiber – FX – Missouri – front full to layout to stag, exactly horizontal but nice form – rudi to 2 foot layout to split, shows good control – switch full to split jump full. 9.900 with a 9.85/9.95 split.

Fitzgerald – BB – Georgia – bhs loso, holds onto the landing with an arm movement and a quick step out of it – full turn – beat to switch side, hit – side aerial 2 feet was way short, chest down and falls – 1.5 dismount. 9.100

Griffin – FX – Missouri – front through to double tuck, under control on the step – double pike, good amplitude, hops to position – split leap full to popa to popa, looked under on the split leap full, some travel in combination. 9.900

Battle – BB – Georgia – split jump 1/2 from side, hit – switch to split, nice – kickover, small lean, keeps moving to beat jump, wobble – bhs loso, small lean correction – nice height on gainer full, lean to hold onto landing. 9.875 quite high for the leans and corrections in there

Kratzer – FX – Missouri – hits opening whip to double tuck – switch side to popa, clear and solid – back 1.5 to layout, under control, not the highest – double pike looked like it was going to be a fall, pulled it around, still low. 9.725

Turner – BB – Georgia – full turn, smooth – bhs loso loso, very solid – switch to split, nice – 1.5 dismount, some leg separation and a hop forward. 9.875

Horton – FX – Missouri – tuck jump full to knee – FTDT, bounce back – switch side 1/2 to wolf full, good finish positions – front tuck through to 2.5, controls her step. 9.850

Smith – BB – Georgia – aerial, pretty into bhs loso – switch, connected well to split leap – kickover pike, arm wave – full turn, hit – gainer pike, holds onto stick. 9.950 with a wobble, so the Smith Moment is here.

Celestine – FX – Missouri – FTDT, boucne back and then an extra shuffle – split leap full to jump full, good – back 1.5 to front lay, whips around the lay a little with a slide – double tuck, controls step. 9.875

Scott – BB – Georgia – full turn, smooth – front handspring, keeps arms going to bhs loso – aerial to split jump to bhs, hit – split leap, leans through combination to switch split – front full dismount, hop. 9.875

Georgia gets a strong 49.350 on beam.

Moore – FX – Missouri – DLO, jussst keeps that front foot under control – switch 1/2 to popa to popa, just lost a bit of control – front tuck through to double tuck, rebound. 9.900

Missouri extends the lead by a bit with a 49.425 on floor.

After 3:
Missouri 148.000
Georgia 147.625

Both teams on track for a count-worthy total if everything goes to plan. Cal and Washington on their way to getting started now as well.

Rotation 1 Washington/Cal, Rotation 4 Missouri/Georgia

Tubbs – VT – Washington – yfull, good amplitude and stick on her yfull, nice start, 9.875

Li – UB – Cal – hits first hs – blind to jaeger, super high – pak, legs together – giant full, good finish into double tuck, hop forward. 9.850

Innes – VT – Washington – another high yfull, a bit more distance then Tubbs, bounce back. 9.775

Lauzon – UB – Cal – a bit short on first hs – toe on to maloney, hit into pak, clean – 1/2 turn on low is good – better final cast hs – FTDT, holds the landing with an arm wave, good. 9.950. And here we go.

Navarro – VT – Washington – yfull, hits, some direction deduction, hop to the side. 9.800

Cesario – UB – Cal – slightly ragged first hs – blind to jaeger to overshoot, big height – nice final cast hs position – DLO, some leg separation, small hop in place. 9.900

Lin – VT – Washington – best height and distance so far of the yfulls, bounce back. 9.825

Amaya Marshall starts Missouri on beam with 9.775,

Perea – UB – Cal – smooth first hs – toe on to pak, clean – good hs on low – van leeuwen, legs together – shy on final hs – DLO, small hop back. 9.850

SKW – VT – Washington – yfull, dynamic as always but a larger bounce back and then another small hop. 9.725

Frazier – UB – Cal – maloney to pak, a little lower on her pak but fine – 1/2 turn on low – DLO, deeper landing, bounce back. 9.850

Schrady – VT – Washington – yfull, good stick, some feet and leg separation, not as far as the last two, great landing. 9.725

Williams – UB – Cal – good first hs – maloney to pak, legs together nicely – hits cast hs on high – DLO, stuck. Very nice. 9.950. Cal gets up to 49.500 on bars.

Meanwhile, Georgia has an OOB from Eryn Williams on floor that goes 9.725

Shaffer – BB – Missouri – hits bhs bhs loso, some knee form – aerial, small check – switch to split is nice 2/1 dismount bounce back. 9.875

Fitzgerald – FX – Georgia – rudi to loso, hit, a bit of twisting form – switch side to popa, hit – double tuck, secure landing. 9.900

Celestine – BB – Missouri – wolf single, hit – roundoff, little pause working through to side aerial as combination – front tuck, holds onto it – split jump to split jump 3/4 – holds onto gainer full stick. 9.925

Cashman – FX – Georgia – back 1.5 to attempted front full, ends up well short of the twist with a kind of sideways landing and step back – switch side 1/2 to straddle jump, hit – double tuck, chest down, hop to the side. 9.825 is friendly. I wouldn’t have given the front full.

Davis – BB – Missouri – bhs loso, chest, lean to the side – kickover front, hop forward, keeps it on the beam – beat to sheep jump, good amplitude – switch to bhs to a high gainer full, stuck. 9.850

Wahl – FX – Georgia – FTDT, slide back – split leap full to wolf full – front tuck through to double tuck, chest down, covers. 9.900

Schreiber – BB – Missouri – bhs loso loso, hit nicely – switch 1/2 to split jump, right on – beat to gainer full, holds the stick. Good. Good for 9.975.

Smith – FX – Georgia – front 2/1, gets it around, controls the step – back 1.5 to front lay – switch side 1/4ish to a wolf 3/4 – rudi to a straddle jump. 9.925

Missouri finishes on 197.400, a strong road number, while Smith’s 9.925 gets Georgia over 197 at home. Of course.

Meanwhile, Frazier up 4th on vault for Cal, big DTY, chest up, step back. 9.850

SKW – UB – Washington – 4th up – good first hs – blind to piked jaeger to overshoot, shows excellent amplitude – blind to front giant 1/2 to double tuck, another bouncy landing, a bouncy and then a little scoot and then another little scoot to try to gain control. 9.825

Lauzon – VT – Cal – Y1.5, nice, small hop forward. 9.925

Russon – UB – Washington – short first hs – blind to jaeger to overshoot, solid – DLO, some piking throughout, hop back. 9.800

Mayhew – VT – Cal – Y1.5, hits its, small hop forward, a bit more knee form than Lauzon and some off direction. 9.800

Tubbs – UB – Washington – short first hs – toe on to maloney to bail, solid – just shy on cast hs positions – DLO, legs apart, step back

Looks like 49.375 on vault for Cal, not the number from last week but keeping them on pace for a higher 197. Almost like I wish the scores worked, but I know that’s far too much to ask. Cal is looking for a 197.550 today to get back ahead of LSU.

After 2:
Cal 98.875
Washington 98.000

Washington should take these solid 49s for both rotations with a chance to bring it up in that final floor rotation.

Rotation 3

Hallinan – BB – Washington – kickover, wobble lean before back tuck, and then a wobble afterward – switch to split, nice – aerial to beat jump, smoothly done – 1.5 dismount, small hop. So I would say no acro series.  They agree, 9.450

Kane – FX – Cal – front full to rudi, good rise, some leg separation, improvement on landing control – switch side 1/2 to wolf jump, clean – back 1.5 to front lay, dances into sissone. Good. 9.850

Innes – BB – Washington – full turn, solid – aerial, keeps moving into bhs, small lean working out of it – cat leap to side aerial, another small lean after landing – switch to straddle 1/4, a bit tight, secure landing – 1.5 dismount, step forward. 9.825

Williams – FX – Cal – front lay to rudi, finds the landing control, has some pike – wolf double, solid – switch 1/2 to split jump, good 180 – 1.5 to layout, looked like she surprised herself with the landing a little bit there. 9.850

Russon – BB – Washington – aerial, small lean into bhs bhs, kept moving enough – switch to split ring jump, arm wave correction – full turn, check – 1.5 dismount, small hop. 9.800

Cesario – FX – Cal – back 1.5 to front full, covers the sideways rebound with a dance out – switch 1/2 to wolf full, nicely around – double tuck, good tuck position, controls step. 9.875

Moody – BB – Washington – bhs loso, hit, some knee bending – switch, short back leg, pause before split jump, so another combo to watch – full turn, hit – side aerial, small lean before split jump but keeps going – 1.5 dismount, deep landing with a slide back. 9.675

Lauzon – FX – Cal – front 2/1 to front tuck, good form, just does control the back foot? – switch ring to switch 1/2, shows bigger height than others on her switch ring – back 1.5 to front full, gets it around. Nice. 9.925

Navarro – BB – Washington – bhs bhs loso, large break, keeps it on the beam but a big bend and turn to the side, leg up – beat to switch side, low but hit – full turn – 1.5 dismount, holds onto the landing on her toes. 9.625

Frazier – FX – Cal – DLO, a little short today, step forward – switch ring to switch 1/2 to 1/2 sissone, pretty – front tuck through to double tuck, holds onto the control. 9.875

SKW – BB – Washington – aerial to bhs loso, connects smoothly – full turn, solid – kickover, beat jump with celebration hands in the air because of how solid the kickover was – switch to split, holds onto it, covers check – side aerial to 1.5, stuck. 9.925

Li – FX – Cal – double tuck, chest up, good control – falls out of memmel turn – front lay to front full, easy peasy – switch to switch ring 1/2, looked like her footwork got weird before the ring 1/2 but pulled it out. 9.850

Washington a shaky one on beam there with a couple 9.6s having to count, but did get the big number from SKW to finish it. Cal goes 49.375 on floor.

After 3
Cal 148.300
Washington 146.850

Rotation 4

Maybe it’s not a West Coast bias thing, maybe it’s that they’re on the Pac-12 Network and no one can watch that and it’s a dead conference.

Li – BB – Cal – front aerial, moving through to loso, small check – switch to split to beat, more tentative attacking that split than her usual, some low back leg – gainer tuck full dismount, holds onto the stick. 9.900, a high start

Pires – FX – Washington – back 1.5 to front lay, clean layout position – switch side 1/2 – double tuck, chest down, some rebound – attempts a split leap full but it’s well under split, split jump full a little higher but also low. 9.800 forgiving for the leaps

Williams – BB – Cal – very fast wolf double – aerial to split jump, lovely – bhs loso, quickly brings arms down but shows a little lean – switch to split, great – bhs gainer full a bit of an issue again, leg form, chest forward, holds onto landing. 9.875

Innes – FX – Washington – front 2/1, controls the step out – split leap full to popa, clean finish – lovely back 1.5 to layout – rudi, like she was going to stick it, then steps back. Very nice. 9.925

Cesario – BB – Cal – full turn – bhs loso, secure landing – switch to switch 1/2, bit of rhythm in between, check on landing – wobble on choreography – 1.5 dismount, hop forward. 9.825

Lin – FX – Washington – rudi, controls the step back – switch 1/2 to popa to popa, around – 1.5 to layout, solid, nice control, not the highest passes in here – switch 1/2 to a stag jump was weird with an arm wave loopy. 9.825

Frazier – BB – Cal – full turn, holds control – aerial, just keeps moving through to loso, some rhythm in between – split jump to split ring jump, right on – 1.5 dismount, great stick. 9.925

Navarro – FX – Washington – double tuck, controls the rebound – switch side to popa, overturns the switch side a little – back 1.5 to front lay that she has to tuck to get it around – double pike. 9.750

Lauzon – BB – Cal – wolf turn single, good – bhs loso loso, secure landing – switch to split, smooth – 2/1 dismount, stuck landing. Pretty much identical to last week. 9.925

10.000/9.850 split LOLOLOLOLOL. Just two judges, using the same rules, watching the same routine.

SKW – FX – Washington – front 2/1, good control on landing – switch to switch ring 1/2, hit – back 1.5 to front lay. 9.900

Perea – BB – Cal – wolf single, nice – kickover to back tuck, connects – switch to split jump, adjustment wobble in between, moved through it – side somi to back tuck 1.5, a little shaky on landing with a shuffle back and hop. 9.875, pretty high for the landing.

I do not understand the ranking or separation of these beam routines. And by separation, I mean the opposite of that.

Nguyen – FX – Washington – front full to front pike, secure landing, a bit of form – double tuck, bounce back – switch to switch ring 1/2 – finishes with double pike, short landing, chest forward and a couple steps

49.500 beam for Cal, 49.200 floor for Washington.

FINAL:
Cal 197.800
Washington 196.050

Cal will certainly cuddle with this 197.800 road score to stay warm at night. Washington puts up a second 196. They’ll need to go higher into the 196s to get the kind of regional scores they want to count, but it’s solid for January.

  1. Not paying for SEC+ to see GA vs Mizz and now Pac-12 International YouTube feed isn’t showing Cal (and East Coast US can’t get the channel on YouTube TV). Grrrr.

    1. If you have cable/some sort of tv bundle that includes SEC Network, you should be able to watch SEC+ through the ESPN app & website. You need to give it the log-in info for your tv provider but it shouldn’t be an extra cost.
