Starting off the action today, Florida pays a visit to Auburn. The last time Auburn hosted this dual in 2022, the two teams tied on 198.575. Which was kind of a lot. Not exactly expecting that today, but also what if they just did.

Live score updates for Florida: No Arana, no Richards. For Auburn: No Hagle. Boyd and Zancan in.

Kathy has turned into Kennedy Baker today.

Rotation 1

Groth – VT – Auburn – excellent stick on yfull. 9.900

Disidore – UB – Florida – maloney, legs together into pak, solid – van leeuwen, clean – couple elbow moments here but solid – DLO, good landing. 9.875

Schumaker – VT – Auburn – y1.5 tucked, lands very short and off direction, sits it down. 9.100

Blakely – UB – Florida – long wait – maloney, hit, a bit of body position on backswing into a clean pak, hits cast hs on high – toe 1/2 to front giant to double front, cowboy, small step forward. 9.825. With the cowboy and the step, you have to take at least .150 on the dismount, so one judge took only that.

Hubbard – VT – Auburn – we can’t see much of these vaults with the camera angle behind the coach (why, you have others?) – knee bending on Y1.5, crossover lunge forward. 9.725

Nguyen – UB – Florida – maloney to pak, very small leg break on maloney – arches a couple vertical positions here, especially final cast hs – lovely DLO, stuck. 9.850

Huff – VT – Auburn – big distance on Y1.5 but a similarly big bound forward, a .2 hop and some knees in the air. 9.750

Bart: You were powerful when you competed, right Kennedy
Kennedy: Yes.

No lies.

Pilgrim – UB – Florida – good first hs – maloney to pak, kind of whippy position but legs together – a bit shy on final cast hs – FTDT, holds onto the stick with a lean. 9.900, bit high for me there.

Hollingsworth – VT – Auburn – Y1.5, hop forward, also from this angle we can see her a tad under-rotated. 9.850

Draser – UB – Florida – maloney to pak, nice pak, a little low amplitude on the maloney – hits cast hs on high – DLO, legs apart, chest down on landing with a step. 9.775

Stevens – VT – Auburn – y1.5, solid, medium hop forward, slightly soft knees. 9.875

Wong – UB – Florida – maloney to pak, hit, small leg break on pak – van leeuwen, clean – DLO, stuck, lovely. 9.950

After 1:
Florida 49.400
Auburn 49.100

Florida definitely stepping up the scores from last week. Nothing major here, little bits of soft body position. Wong definitely saving the rotation total to take it from meh to solid. Auburn gets rid of the fall and gets up to 49.100, which is not bad for a rotation where the landings were not there today, except for Groth. Every 1.5 had at least a tenth on landing.

Meanwhile, MSU also went to 49.400 on bars to start the day with 9.900s from Schulte and Harkness.

AUDIO DIFFICULTIES. This is what happens when Kathy isn’t there. The whole operation goes to pieces.

Rotation 2

Edwards – VT – Florida – yfull, good distance, chest just a bit forward, small hop. 9.875

Boyd – UB – Auburn – toe on to maloney, small leg break there connected into pak, good pak legs together – struggling up on a couple handstands – has to recast on low bar – stalder to double tuck, small shuffle back on landing. 9.775

Draser – VT – FLorida – hits Y1.5, lunge forward, some direction deduction, off to the side, some soft knees. 9.800

Hollingsworth – UB – Auburn – another long wait here – SEC Netowrk is like, don’t you know we’re on a schedule here? – blind to piked jaeger, hit, small leg break – bail, leg separation on catch – too aggressive on final cast handstand, big arch and comes off the bar – resumes to finish with FTDT, holds stick with lean.

Another second spot fall for Auburn.

Ferris – VT – Florida – Y1.5, very large bound forward, similar to Huff but then another little hop afterward. 9.725

Brusch – UB – Auburn – toe on to maloney to bail, looked shy on bail vertical position from our angle – DLO, little rebound. 9.825

Nguyen – VT – Florida – into the vault lineup today, no Blakely – Y1.5, hits fairly solidly, some knees and a crossover step, not as high as some others, good direction. 9.825

McLaughlin – UB – Auburn – good first hs – maloney to bail, some leg separations – nice 1/2 turn vertical on low bar – hits cast hs on high – giant full, late finish into double tuck, stuck. 9.875

Wong – VT – Florida – ro 1/2 on pike 1/2, pretty good chest position, bounce back. 9.850

Groth – UB – Auburn – Ray, hit – pak, really loses form there, lots of tucking – solid 1/2 turn on low bar – giant full, a bit past into double tuck, stuck. 9.825

Pilgrim – VT – Florida – solid work on y1.5, medium hop forward. 9.875

Stevens – UB – Auburn – good first hs – toe on to Ray, good height, some feet, hit, connects to overshoot – solid cast hs position on high – DLO, some piking, finds the stick. 9.875

Florida gets to 49.225 on vault there, a little under last week. Again mostly because of landings. Auburn only loses a little ground with a 49.175 on bars, again dropping a fall. Will need a big moment on beam and floor to get back to the 197 from last week though.

Scoring so far not heinous but definitely on the side of the nicest you can be while still being within the realm of reason.

After 2:
Florida 98.625
Auburn 98.275

I love how last season the Florida coaches were like, “We dress casual now,” and this season Jeremy is like, nope nope nope nope nope, fuck that, sparkles only.

Michigan State is on 98.700 through two events with another 9.950 from Kellerman on vault.

Rotation 3

Brusch – BB – Auburn – switch 1/2, lean correction breaks combo to beat jump – full turn, arm wave correction – bhs loso, hit – switch to straddle 1/4, short back leg on switch – gainer full, doesn’t quite hold the position with a step salute. 9.725

Brubach – FX – Florida – front lay to rudi, good height on lay but it meant that her second element was lower, controls step, some knee position – switch 1/2 to wolf full – double tuck, bounce back. 9.900. Watch out for what’s happening on floor scoring today.

Zancan – BB – Auburn – we’re into this mount – bhs loso series, secure, some knee – switch to switch 1/2, good switch 1/2 attention – 1.5 dismount, crossover step. Tons of potential there. 9.825

What are the gymnasties called today?

Nguyen – FX – Florida – front 2/1, gets it around but a little bit of Bambi splay on landing before her jump – switch ring to switch 1/2, lovely – 1.5 to layout, controls the step. 9.900

Someone tell the floor judges there’s no Derrian 10 to set up for because she isn’t here anymore.

Hollingsworth – BB – Auburn – full turn, smooth – bhs loso, secure, chest a bit down – switch 1/2, hit into split jump – bhs gainer full, stuck. 9.850

Lazzari – FX – Florida – front 2/1, better form, pretty, but a crossover slide step – split leap full to popa to popa, around, since Kathy isn’t here, I will take on the duty of saying, “Ohhh, lost her feet a little bit going into that first leap” – back 1.5 to layout, legs together. 9.850

Groth – BB – Auburn – bhs loso bhs, good extension, solid landing – switch, large break, arm wave, step, lean – switch 1/2 to split jump is nice – full turn, solid – gainer full, lower amplitude, stuck. 9.775

Blakely – FX – Florida  – front tuck through to double pike, short landing, chest forward, rebound – switch to switch ring 1/2, bouncy dancy on landing – back 1.5 to layout – 9.775

ACROBADDIES? Tortured.

Stevens – BB – Auburn – bhs loso, secure, knees and feet in both elements – split to stag ring, solid – kickover to knee, solid, rushes the wolf turn after a bit with an arm wave – 1.5, holds the stick. 9.900

Hurd – FX – Florida – front lay to rudi, rebound back – switch ring, lovely, into switch 1/2 – double pike, good control, chest a bit down, some feet. Solid, a bit better than last week. 9.875

McLaughlin – BB – Auburn – bhs loso, nice foot positions, secure – beat to side aerial, keeps moving into split jump, just a little bit of arm correction there – full turn – switch to straddle 1/4, good split, balance correction – gainer pike, stuck. 9.950

Wong – FX – Florida – wolf double, gets it around – high double pike, good feet, rebound up – switch 1/2 to popa to popa, great rise into those popae – back 1/2 to front full, shows enough control. 9.950, so looks like they only took landing control for the double pike.

Stevens and McLaughlin take Auburn to 49.300 on beam, keeping hop for 197 alive with a big home floor, which seems like it’s being set up for. Florida on 49.475 on floor to extend the lead. Mid-197 looking very doable here.

After 3:
Florida 148.100
Auburn 147.575

Michigan State had 49.300 on floor to sit on 148 after three events and will now have to figure out beam.

Hoping that Sears being in Alabama’s vault anchor spot on their prospective lineups means we’ll see the upgrade this week.

Rotation 4

Draser – BB – Florida – secure loso series – hits switch, switch 1/2 arm wave wobble – full turn – 1.5 dismount, small hop forward. 9.850

Brusch – FX – Auburn – front tuck through to double tuck, good chest position – switch 1/2 to popa to wolf full, great popa as always – double pike, some feet, step to the side. 9.900

Lazzari – BB – Florida – bhs loso loso, huge break this week, large bend forward at the waist – switch to split, lovely – aerial and full turn, nice – gainer full, good finish. 9.750

“Before He Cheats” is a really solid song choice for when the judges are scoring the opponents routine.

Huff – FX – Auburn – high FTDT, possible OOB, not sure some curly hair was in the way – switch ring to split leap full, solid completion – front lay to rudi, good rise into rudi but landed chest down – Definitely OOB on replay. 9.750

Hurd – BB – Florida – wolf single, wobble, arm wave to keep it together – aerial, just does keep moving into bhs – beat to loso, another arm wave check – switch to straddle, wonderful straddle position – 2/1, nice stick. 9.825

McLaughlin – FX – Auburn – back 1.5 to front lay, good body position, lower layout – split leap full to wolf jump 1.5, gets a little under on dance positions – double pike, controls step back. 9.925

Blakely – BB – Florida – aerail to bhs, check – split leap to switch 1/2 to beat jump, hit, some front foot in switch 1/2 – arm wave on full turn – switch to gainer full, chest forward and a little movement to hold landing.  9.875

Groth – FX – Auburn – front 2/1, some of the better leg positions, little slide forward – switch 1/2 to wolf full, excellent – back 1.5 to front lay, layout position is right on – rudi, rebound back. 9.900

Nguyen – BB – Florida – onodi to bhs, keeps moving in connection well – switch, arm wave, keeps going into split leap, but some balance corrections – bhs 1.5 dismount, lunge forward. 9.800

Stevens – FX – Auburn – front lay to rudi, under control, some soft leg/hip position – split leap full to wolf full, around – double tuck, great control. 9.925

Wong – BB – Florida – switch mount, hit – split leap – bhs loso, a bit of arm correction from her as well – full turn, smooth – aerial, pretty – 2/1 dismount, slide back, a bit of knee crossing. 9.875

Hollingsworth – FX – Auburn – open FTDT, nice chest up finish position – straddle jump – switch 1/2 to popa, cleanly around – front tuck through to double tuck, bounce back and steps OOB. Was basically perfect until then.

Florida goes 49.225 on beam, OK, nothing disastrous counting, but lots of arm wave corrections and leaning your way through combinations.

Leanne wins the AA with 39.625 and the closeup of her was like, “Meh, can do better.”

FINAL:
Florida 197.325
Auburn 197.025

Slightly up for Florida on last week with not counting a bars miss. Probably won’t improve the ranking much based on expectations for what other teams will score. Auburn does end up getting over the 197 mark, so will keep up a solid ranking position.

Over with Alabama and Arkansas, Alabama throwing up the big results on vault so far.

In the 5th spot they have Doggette coming into the vault lineup, with just a yfull, but good distance, a bit of pike, slide back. 9.825

Park – UB – Arkansas – toe on to Ray, good distance from the bar – hits cast hs – pak, nice height and legs together – borderline final cast hs – DLO, a bit of piking, small hop back. Good. 9.925

Adams – VT – Alabama – no Sears after all – she also does a full, good height, not the distance of Doggette, pretty in the air, small movement on landing. 9.850

Jones – UB – Arkansas – blind to piked jaeger, good body position – pak, clean, legs together – a bit past on 1/2 turn on low – nice feet throughout – DLO, struggles, short landing, large lunge forward. 9.825

After 1:
Alabama 49.350
Arkansas 49.300

Michigan State is in with the top score of the young weekend so far with 197.475. Big increase for them.

Rotation 2

Saying that Jordyn “resurrected” the Arkansas program is a lot.

Weaver – VT – Arkansas – Chris, your back muscles are too expansive, we couldn’t see any of that – some leg separation early, bounce back. 9.875

LaCoursiere – UB – Alabama – good first hs – maloney to pak, lovely, legs together – van leeuwen, solid catch – FTDT, deep landing was only issue there – holds onto it. 9.900

Park – VT – Arkansas – nice distance on yfull but a short landing, chest down, lunge forward. 9.800, don’t know how we get that high.

Pawlak – UB – Alabama – hits first hs – maloney to clear hip to bail, legs together – short final cast hs – some back positions is here – lovely DLO, step back. 9.850

Smith – VT – Arkansas – great yfull, good distance and direction, stuck. Would expect 9.950 the way the scores have been going. Nope. 9.925.

Local Man Doesn’t Understand Score Separation

Machado – UB – Alabama – pak, good – a bit shy on cast hs on low – van leeuwen, has the amplitude – toe full, quick finish into double tuck, stuck. 9.900

Sedlacek – VT – Arkansas – small hop forward on her y1.5, some knee bending. 9.850

Waligora – UB – Alabama – blind to jaeger, good height, some flexed feet, connects to overshoot – good cast hs on high – DLO, small hop back. 9.925

Price – VT – Arkansas – great height on yfull, bounce back. 9.850

Adams – UB – Alabama – maloney to pak, pretty legs together position – excellent 1/2 turn vertical on low bar, small loose back moment when holding it – giant full, nice finish position, into double tuck, small slide back. 9.925

Williams – VT – Arkansas – hits her y1.5, medium hop forward. 9.925, impossible score for what has to be a one-tenth landing.

Doggette – UB – Alabama – shortish first hs – tkatchev to pak, well done – 1/2 turn on low bar, good finish – rushing her casts a bit though – DLO, small movement. 9.950.

It’s 49.600 on bars for Alabama and 49.425 for Arkansas and we are finger painting the scores at this point. So many 9.9s.

Alabama 98.950
Arkansas 98.725

Maryland’s Pride Swimsuit: Discuss. Also JJ is nailing it with the fashions. 10/10. Insert comment about actual vaults here.

Rotation 3

Waligora – BB – Alabama – full turn, hit – bhs loso, secure landing, a bit tight, chest position etc – side aerial, smooth – split jump to tuck jump 1/1, finishes the turn on the beam, not quite all the way around – 1.5 dismount, step. 9.700

Klein – FX – Arkansas – front loso to double tuck, controls step back – switch side to popa, overturns switch side a bit, good height – double pike, solid landing again, chest a little farther down. 9.850

Hudson – BB – Alabama – aerial to bhs loso, great form but large break and now falls, so the 9.700 will count – switch to beat, good foot positions – side aerial, good – 1.5, good hold onto the dismount despite being a little under. 9.125

Park – FX – Arkansas – FTDT, around, hops to present, chest a bit down – double tuck, controls the step – switch 1/2 to wolf full, rises into a better wolf full – 1.5 to layout. 9.825

Burgess – BB – Alabama – full turn, smooth – one arm bhs to loso, very solid – side aerial, secure – switch to beat jump – cat leap to switch side, arm-fancies to cover a couple times in here – gainer pike, stuck. Very good. 9.950

Jones – FX – Arkansas – front 2/1, around, controls step forward – switch ring to switch 1/2, not quite up there on the switch ring – back 1.5 to layout, solid height – rudi, controls well, chest a bit forward. 9.900

Rybicki – BB – Alabama – full turn, hit –  bhs loso is hit, but some bent knee and flexed feet throughout the combo – cat leap to switch 1/2, large leg up break – beat to straddle 3/4, under split – 1.5 dismount, holds onto stick. 9.800, that’s really high

Smith – FX – Arkansas – front loso to double tuck, bit of a hop to the side – switch side to popa, good work on straddle positions – double pike, good amplitude, slide back. 9.925

Adams – BB – Alabama – smooth wolf double – aerial, hit – bhs loso, small lean correction – switch to split, nice – bhs 1.5, stuck nicely. Good. 9.900

Williams – FX – Arkansas – FTDT, but a slide back and then an additional step – back 1.5 to front lay, pretty layout – switch side to popa, high, overturns some on switch side – double tuck, I think it was solid? What a fun camera angle. 9.875 somehow.

Blanco – BB – Alabama – aerial, lovely – full turn, good – bhs loso, small check – switch to switch 1/2, lovely – 1.5 dismount, hop. 9.850

Price – FX – Arkansas – DLO, but chest short, step forward – switch side to popa to popa, super high, wish they weren’t cheating these landing positions on their switch sides because they don’t need to – front full to layout, hit – 9.850

Alabama goes 49.200 on beam, escapes the rotation with one fall and a couple shaky others but three nice routines. Arkansas picks up almost the entire deficit with a 49.400 on floor.

After 3:
Alabama 148.150
Arkansas 148.125

Alabama will expect to pull this out because the floor scores look to be there for them.

No Finnegan for LSU today. Brock back in.

Rotation 4

Gamiao – BB – Arkansas – secure on loso loso, some knee – side somi, secure – switch to split, hit – full turn, hit – 1.5, stuck. Solid. 9.925.

LaCoursiere – FX – Alabama – into a third lineup today – front lay to rudi, good rise, but a slide back – switch ring to split full, good – double tuck, good position, again some movement on landing. 9.850

Jones – BB – Arkansas – aerial to bhs loso, nice – split to stag ring, check – punch front full dismount, stuck. Another solid routine. 9.875

And no, Kyla wasn’t being humble. She messed up her combo credit on her first college beam and got a 9.700

Waligora – FX – Alabama – front lay to front 2/1, rebound, crossover slide, OOB? – split leap full to wolf full, under split positions – back 1.5 to layout, pretty layout. Yes OOB. 9.700

“What Olivia Dunne and company have in store.” She’s literally not even in their prospective lineups tonight.

Williams – BB – Arkansas – bhs loso, hit, knees in bhs, holds onto it – switch to straddle 1/4, good height in straddle – kickover, hit, was a little off line but corrects with only a small correction – 1.5, stuck. 9.875.

Burgess – FX – Alabama – double tuck, slide back – double pike, overcooked it with a large rebound, surprising landings so far for Alabama – switch side 1/4ish to straddle 3/4ish – front full to lay, holds onto landing before controlled step. 9.825

Weaver – BB – Arkansas – bhs loso, hit, some loose knee – stradlde jump to stag ring, a bit low but secure – side aerial, good – 1.5 dismount, pace forward. 9.825

Machado – FX – Alabama – double tuck, secure landing – wolfing all around – back 1.5 to layout, solid, lay a little lower than the 1.5 – switch to switch 1/2 – 9.875

Linton – BB – Arkansas – wolf double, hit – bhs bhs loso, small adjustment on landing – switch to split, good split, just a little tight on switch – 1.5 dismount, small hop, some knees. 9.900

Sears – FX – Alabama – glad this is in today – DLO, just a little jelly legs on landing with a step back – switch ring to split leap full – front tuck through to double tuck, controls it

Park – BB – Arkansas – full turn, hit – bhs loso, large break and falls.

But it’s still going to be a 197.525, which is an Arkansas record. Because I think you, like everyone, was thinking this is the best meet you’ve ever seen from Arkansas. 9.875

Hudson – FX – Alabama – 9.950 to tie – front lay to front 2/1, good form, controls step forward – switch 1/2 to wolf full, good completion – double tuck, so glad we could see it, looks like the landing was under control.

LSU/Kentucky started, KJ Johnson a little short on her yfull today leading off for LSU, step forward, and still goes 9.850, which she has been getting for her good ones. Drayton lunge forward on y1.5 for 9.875. Oh we’re having a score party tonight.

9.950 for Hudson ties the meet on 197.525 for both.

Schoenherr third on vault for LSU, back in after her issue last week – no trouble on the Y1.5 today, just some knees and a little lean. 9.925

Rizo third on bars for Kentucky, shortish first hs – blind to jaeger, nice form in release – a couple angles on handstands and loose elbows on her bail – WAYYYY short on final cast his – looks like she pings off on DLO but somehow finds the stick. 9.825 is…well it’s…well.

Brock – VT – LSU – way way short on landing, multiple lunges back. 9.500

Aly Raisman broadcast debut –

Kiya Johnson – VT – LSU – much better for her, just a little bit of knees, small foot movement 9.900

Bunn – UB – Kentucky – blind to jaeger, hit – bail, good feet – short final cast hs – DLO, apparently stuck. So much coach in the way tonight. 9.875

Bryant – VT – LSU – handspring pike 1/2, looked like she could have held onto the stick but got overexcited – 9.975 of course, but that was not a controlled landing.

Worley – UB – Kentucky – hits tkatchev – pak, we can see the leg break from this angle – short cast hs on high – FTDT, stuck. 9.975

So, this thing is going to be wild.

Finnegan out with a wrist thing.

After 1:
LSU 49.525
Kentucky 49.450

Rotation 2

Rodriguez – VT – Kentucky – controls landing on yfull, a bit of elbows on the table so not the highest. 9.850

Jeffrey – UB – LSU – good first hs – maloney to bail, legs together well – shorter cast hs on high – FTDT, very high but close to the bar, hop back. 9.800

Rizo – VT – Kentucky – yfull, a bit higher but also more pike and a bounce back. 9.750

Cowan – UB – LSU – hits first hs – Ray, takes it very far and falls – resumes with redoing the Ray into overshoot, hit – DLO, lovely finish, stuck. 9.375

Aly’s like, “You know what sucks? Bars.”

Patterson – VT – Kentucky – sticks her handspring pike 1/2, nice one – not the most distance but a big stick. 9.925

Kiya Johnson – UB – maloney with a leg break into bail, legs together – good vertical on hs on high – DLO, a bit soft in the knees on landing so she had to hop forward. 9.850

Magnelli – VT – Kentucky – very similar handspring pike 1/2 from her but a hop back on this one. 9.850

McClain – UB – LSU – good first hs – Church to pak, best distance from the bar so far for her – good cast hs on high – FTDT, step back. 9.875

Worley – VT – Kentucky – Y1.5, step forward, good direction. 9.875

Schoenherr – UB – LSU – toe 1/2 to jaeger, feet but super high as always – small arch on cast hs – bail, good vertical position – solid hs on high – double front 1/2, flexed feet but stuck. 9.925

Wilson – VT – Kentucky – a little more distance on her handspring pike 1/2, small step back. 9.900

Bryant – UB – LSU – blind to jaeger, hit – good cast hs – bail, legs together – blind to double front 1/2, absorbs the landing.

And we have a 10 for Bryant. Great one. Things you can take, like flexed feet and leg separation on dismount.

After 2:
LSU 98.975
Kentucky 98.850

Oh no we’re off 198 pace! What shall we do! Bryant keeping LSU out in front of this one.

Hahahah we’re doing a recap of Beam Cap Moment.

Rotation 3

Ballard – BB – LSU – bhs loso, secure, some knee in bhs – sissone to switch 1/2, small arm correction, short sissone – kickover, leaning up onto her toes, holds it – 1.5, small step. 9.900

Rodriguez – FX – Kentucky – front 2/1, slightly under, steps to the side – switch ring to split leap full – double tuck, slide back – 1.5 to back 1/2 to straddle jump, shows solid control on that pass. 9.850

Beard – BB – LSU – bhs loso, right on – switch, small pause before straddle jump 1/2, leaning into beat jump – side aerial, smoothly done – cat leap to gainer full, some piking, stuck. Happy to see her hit, she should definitely be in this lineup full-time for her form. 9.875

Magnelli – FX -Kentucky – rudi to a high loso, lovely layout, just a big of knee in the rudi – switch side to popa, excellent straddles – double pike, does well to pull it around because she didn’t get much on it, some movement

McClain – BB – LSU – Boo that they gave up on the layout 2 feet after one fall – switch to switch 1/2, very nice amplitude – aerial keeps moving into bhs – wolf jump is excellent, super high – full turn – side aerial, chest down and a wobble – gainer full, chest down, hop forward. 9.800

Patterson – FX – Kentucky – back 1.5 to layout to straddle shushunova, love it, though the layout got as bit low – switch ring to switch side, good – switch ring 1/2 – double tuck, very deep landing. 9.850

Wait, is this true about Ball State?

Johnson – BB – LSU – full turn – bhs loso, crisp landing – switch to switch, also secure – kickover, arm wave wobble – 2/1, small movement. 9.900

Davis – FX – Kentucky – double pike, bounce back – switch side 1/2 to straddle 3/4 – back 1.5 to layout, clean layout position – double tuck, chest forward with a step. 9.900

I’m dying at these videos of the Ball State bars 10s. You shouldn’t post them! Then you could maintain plausible deniability. Now we can all see all the deductions.

Bryant – BB – LSU – aerial, keeps moving into back handspring – switch to straddle 1/4, tight, little lean – full turn, correction – front tuck, secure – split jump, good – good stick on the rudi. John decided not to see her two balance checks. 9.900

Brose – FX – Kentucky – good feet on double pike, bounce back – split leap full to wolf full, good completion – front full to front lay, hit – front 2/1, slide out. 9.925

Finnegan – BB – LSU – SHE’S BACK! HER WRIST IS FIXED! bhs loso loso, small wobble – switch to split, hit – aerial, wobble, turn to the side, pulls it back – gainer full, holds onto landing.

Worley – FX – Kentucky – FTDT, good controlled step back – switch ring to switch side, nice – front full to front lay, stuck – double tuck, controls the step again. Very nice. 9.950

49.475 floor for Kentucky to 49.425 beam for LSU. Kentucky gains a little ground, and the judges at this meet gain not having anyone complain about them because Ball State just scored a 198 at that Tennessee nonsense meet no one can watch. Every team in the meet set a program record.

The toxicity of “consistent within the meet.”

After 3:
LSU 148.400
Kentucky 148.325

Rotation 4

Rodriguez – BB – Kentucky – switch to split jump – bhs bhs loso, holds onto the landing, some soft knee in the first one – side somi, lean forward to keep it together – 1.5, stuck. 9.850

Ballard – FX – LSU – DLO, good control on landing, pikes down at the end to control it – back 1.5 to front layout, small slide – switch ring to switch 1/2 -double pike, under control. 9.875

Aly is like, it’s weird that Sierra wants to find her family in the standings. Fair that Aly is freaked out by that. We’ve seen your mom in the stands.

Gormley – BB – Kentucky – switch side, held, a bit crooked – aerial, nice – bhs loso, large break and a nice save, looked like she was going to fall and then a deft step back – switch, some back leg, into straddle 1/4, good – 1.5 dismount, holds onto stick with arm wave. 9.750

McClain – FX – LSU – into the floor lineup for the first time – DLO, good control – switch to switch 1/1, some movement to pull the final bit of twist around – 1.5 to front full, kind of steps around the end of the twist. 9.925

Bunn – BB – Kentucky – full turn, good – bhs loso loso, huge break and the WILDEST SAVE OF ALL TIME, how, how, how, she stepped like 915 times – switch to split, hit – 2/1 dismount, short, hop forward. 9.500

KJ Johnson – FX – LSU – FTDT, right on – 1.5 to front lay, slide forward – switch side to popa, overturns the switch side – double tuck, excellent control. 9.950

Patterson – BB – Kentucky – full turn, hit – bhs loso, wobble, arm wave, brings it back – aerial, leans to keep moving through it to a split jump – cat leap to switch side, angled – gainer pike dismount, step forward. 9.850

Drayton – FX – LSU – DLO, small rebound, pikes down a little at the end – front tuck through to double tuck, a bit of front foot movement – switch ring to switch 1/2, elegantly executed – 9.900

Worley – BB – Kentucky – cat leap to switch side, a bit tight, secure on the beam – aerial, leans through to combination to bhs loso, keeps it going but a rhythm deduction – full turn, nicely done – 1.5, tries to hold the landing but does an arm wave and then steps back anyway. 9.925, how. More than a tenth on the dismount alone.

WHO DO YOU THINK YOU ARE BALL STATE?

Bryant – FX – LSU – double front, hops to present, covers it more this week than the step back last time – switch – switch full – front lay to rudi, good one. 9.950

Magnelli – BB – Kentucky – bhs loso loso, almost right on, then an arm wave – switch to her excellent straddle 1/4 – aerial, lovely – gainer pike, holds onto stick. 9.900

39.825 AA for Bryant.

Kiya Johnson – FX – LSU – FTDT, some rebound – back 1.5 to front lay, good lay position – switch 1/2 to popa, excellent – double pike, solid control.

Kentucky done on 197.600, just a bit shaky on beam but obviously still a huge total for them.

And Johnson gets a 10.000. FIRST PASSES DON’T MATTER AS MUCH AS VIBESSSS.

FINAL:
LSU 198.125
Kentucky 197.600

  1. Sloane’s post-routine celebrations are the absolute best. It is refreshing to see a gymnast that doesn’t react in “LETS GO” accompanied with 1 or 2 claps.

    1. It says “Audio Difficulties” on the top right corner of my screen so I assume they do know there’s a problem.

Also, last I checked, they’d stopped commentating which suggests Bart & Kennedy were told not to bother until they can fix the audio.

  2. I must once again posit that it was a massive mistake the change the requirements for two-pass routines

    1. If they have two passes, they have to make it up with other elements. These girls are doing competitions every week and are trying to save their bodies. Maybe you’d prefer the additional injuries.

      1. No one wants more injuries. What an insane statement.

I think a reasonable solution would be to make two pass routines start from a 9.95. I mean no one is arguing that vault changes leading to more difficulty is putting athletes at risk; thus, maybe they can take the same approach on floor.

  3. I assume Konnor will be back on beam this week with Sarah out. Waiting to see if she keeps the layout.

    1. Agreed! She obviously knows gymnastics and is great at pointing out mistakes and issues; however, her voice and poise are perfect for broadcast sports journalism. So many former athletes have the sports knowledge and then struggle with the journalism side. Aly did fantastic for a first meet!

  4. I had to look up Ball State’s 10s and now I’m depressed. like I love Ball State and Suki’s vault was very good, but come onnnnnnnn….

  5. That 9.5 for Bunn on beam is a travesty. I had it at 9.3 at most. I know she didn’t fall, but the lack of control is egregious.

    1. THAT’S the scoring you find egregious ? 😆😆😆 Let me start with the Johnson floor 10, and we’ll go from there. Just because John and Aly were saying things were perfect, doesn’t make it so.

      1. LOL. A fantastic routine that should have been a 9.95 but got a 10 is really NOT egregious. In fact it happens all the time in NCAA. That multiple tenths that GIVEN to every gymnast for Ball St and Kent State on purpose is egregious and disgraceful

  6. The judges at the Tenn. classic shouldn’t be allowed another NCAA assignment this season. Meets like this are a joke. Refs in other sports are reprimanded and pulled from other games when they make egregious errors. It’s time for the NCAA to do better in gymnastics. I would also expect someone at the NCAA to look closely at the organizers of this meet, as well. The judges were likely acting upon someone’s direction.

  7. Why have we not seen Karis German on floor still. She was competing two H-passes and dismounting with an E pass in 2021.. Her form isn’t perfect but I am shocked she hasn’t cracked that lineup still

    1. 1) she has a major back injury to end her elite career and really can’t fly like a bird on all those E passes the way she could before. But like you, I’d still like to see her in the lineup a couple times..
      2) the ability to perform lots of difficult tumbling passes has NO VALUE in the laughably broken NCAA code modifications which incentivize 2 pass routines, many of which have no E pass and get 9.90 plus if clean. so why do hard things. Just like all the cookie cutter bar routines most of which with no same bar release, and beam routines with a series, a full turn, a couple leaps and a gainer off the the side.

  8. The tens (and most of the high scores) GIVEN to Ball State and Kent State are the equivalent of a basketball player missing a free throw, and the referee insisting that the team receive the point anyway. it’s a humiliation to the sport
