Rotation 1

McClelland – VT – Nebraska – yfull, bounce to the side, some pike, not the most distance. 9.725

Morrison – UB – Michigan – gienger, nice, legs together – clear hip to bail, small leg break in the air, together in the end – better final cast hs, rushes the first couple – DLO, good stick. 9.825

Davis – VT – Nebraska – good stick on yfull, more piking and leg separation on the block, some knees in the air. 9.800

Vore – UB – Michigan – toe on to tkatchev, hit – bail, gets to vertical int he end, some piking in the air – DLO, good height but lands chest forward with a step. 9.800

Hall – VT – Nebraska – yfull, chest somewhat forward on landing causing a step to the side and a bit forward. 9.700

Wilson – UB – Michigan – back arch on first cast hs but pulls it back – piked jaeger, hit – bail, legs together – stronger subsequent handstands – DLO, legs together well, lunge back. 9.825

Bacskay – VT – Nebraska – hits her y1.5, medium step forward, some knee bending throughout. 9.800

Zabrowski – UB – Michigan – good first hs – blind to jaeger, hit, some foot position – pak, legs together well – solid final cast hs on high – DLO, step back. 9.800

Comin – VT – Nebraska – y1.5, stiff landing but OK, hops forward. 9.825

Bauman – UB – Michigan – good first hs – toe 1/2 to jaeger to overshoot, excellent amplitude – short cast hs on high before dismount – doubel front, better legs together than most, step forward. 9.825

Spence – VT – Nebraska – y1.5, hits, hop forward, some knee position. 9.850

Brooks – UB – Michigan – good first hs – blind to piked jaeger, hit – solid hs – toe on to bail, a little past it appeared from this angle – DLO 1/1 dismount, nice control, a little movement? 9.900

Nebraska goes 49.000 on vault. Solid difficulty with the three y1.5s in there, but a couple short landings on fulls and lunges on the 1.5s keep them from any huge numbers. Michigan will lead with 49.175, not their best handstand day and a number of them had full tenth steps on dismount, so that’s a season bars low.

Meanwhile Widner for Stanford just had a 10.000/9.900 split on bars. I wondered about where they were going with that after Alexeeva went 9.925 with a super short handstand but a stuck DLO.

Rotation 2

Guggino – VT – Michigan-  one of her good ones, sticks the Y1.5, just some knees. 9.900

Bacskay – UB – Nebraska – good first hs – pak, legs together well – small arch in hs on low – van leeuwen, solid leg position – short on cast hs on high – DLO, can’t quite hold onto the finish position. 9.850

Mulligan – VT – Michigan – pretty large lunge forward on her y1.5, and a leg separation on the vault. 9.750

Simpton – UB – Nebraska – toe on to maloney, good height into pak, catches too close though – can’t cast out of it, has to recast and goes over and comes off – finishes DLO, large lunge forward

Morrison – VT – Michigan – y1.5, solid work, small hop to the side. 9.800, seems tight compared to the Nebraska y1.5 scores. Wonder if they weren’t into her finish hold since she stepped back after?

Jencks – UB – Nebraska – arch on first hs, pull it back – toe on to Ray, hit into overshoot – solid cast hs on high – DLO, holds onto the landing. 9.800

Wilson – VT – Michigan – struggles on her y1.5 today, short landing with a lunge back. 9.625

Colombo – UB – Nebraska – some angle in first cast hs – higgins to piked jaeger, very nice – well short on next cast hs – pak, good amplitude, some body position – nice cast hs on high – higgins to double front 1/2, very deep landing and a couple lunges out of it. 9.500 that will have to count.

Brooks – VT – Michigan – “here is Ava Jordan” – hits her Y1.5 a little more off direction today, small hop forward. 9.825

Spence – UB – Nebraska – good first hs – maloney to pak, nice height, directly into toe on to van leeuwen – giant full to double tuck, good landing. Lovely. 9.875

Jordan – VT – Michigan – hits her yfull but chest somewhat forwward and a step to the side. 9.700

Davis – UB – Nebraska – maloney to bail, hit, looked like a little angle on bail catch – DLO, hop back. 9.875

Just 48.975 for Michigan on vault. Thought they got hosed on a couple scores compared to Nebraska there but also had some other short vaults and big landing deductions. It’s 48.900 for Nebraska on bars, able to drop the fall but had to count the 9.5 for Colombo.

After 2:
Michigan 98.150
Nebraska 97.900

Rotation 3

Sikon – BB – Nebraska – candle mount, hit – cartwheel to knee – bhs loso, wobble, turns to the side with an arm wave, pulls it back – cat leap to switch 1/2, secure landing – tuck 1.5 dismount, some leg separation, stuck. 9.725

Bauman – FX – Michigan – front 2/1, very nice height – switch 1/2 to wolf full to wolf full, clear completion – back 1.5 to layout, controls her step out, looked lowish but we have an aerial angle – 9.900

Meanwhile, Arizona tied a program bars record with 49.475, so things continued as they were over there.

Gard – BB – Nebraska – bhs loso, some leg form, keeps arms moving into split jump, under split – beat to side aerial, keeps foot up to try to connect to switch and split jump, some rhythm if they give combination – gainer pike, stuck with some direction. 9.700

Mulligan – FX – Michigan – front tuck through to double tuck, bounce back, to the corner but keeps it in – switch side 1/2 to straddle jump – double pike, lunge back, looks like she never put her heel down to keep that one in. 9.825

Bacskay – BB – Nebraska – bhs bhs loso, does well to avoid any checks since she looked a little off line throughout – switch to split, a bit shy on switch but lovely split jump – 2/1 dismount, step back. 9.800

Guggino – FX – Michigan – front loso to double pike, under control landing, some soft knee in double pike – switch side to popa, overturn – front lay to rudi, good rise into rudi, bounce back. 9.825

Hall – BB – Nebraska – full turn, smooth – bhs loso is way off and falls, maybe a 1/4 of a foot got on the beam there – so that means the 9.7 and 9.725 will count – good stick on 1.5 dismount. 9.250

Morrison – FX – Michigan – tuck jump full – FTDT, good, small slide back with front foot – switch 1/2 to wolf full, clearly around – front tuck through to double tuck, comfortable control. 9.925

Spence – BB – Nebraska – and she double wolfs herself right off the beam, add it to the wolf turn archive – resumes with a hit aerial to bhs bhs – switch to beat, hit – 1.5 dismount, onto toes. 9.150

Brooks – FX – Michigan – open FTDT, bounce back – tuck jump full – split leap full to jump full – front tuck through to double tuck, under control. 9.925

McClelland – BB – Nebraska – wolf double no trouble – bhs loso, holds it – straddle jump to beat to stag ring, hop forward – bhs tuck 1.5, hop forward

Wilson – FX – Michigan – open FTDT, also a slide back, keeps front foot in control a bit more than Brooks was able to – switch side 1/2 to straddle jump, very comfortable – front lay to high rudi, possible chest forward. 9.875

Michigan goes 49.450 on floor for a much more comfortable rotation, while Nebraska has to count a fall on beam for 48.325.

After 3:
Michigan 147.600
Nebraska 146.225

Cal and Oregon State about to get started now.

Rotation 1

Williams – VT – Cal – yfull, doesn’t have the landing control today with a bounce back. 9.825

Weaver – UB – Oregon St – hits first hs – giant full to giegner, hit, legs together – bail, possible angle – good hs on high – giant full to double tuck, very small movement. Good. 9.850

Cute that this dude thinks the judges have a better vantage point than we do.

Brown – VT – Cal – yfull, hit, also a hop back, smaller hop than Williams had. 9.800

Briones – UB – Oregon St – toe on to maloney, legs together well – small leg separation in pak, a bit over on 1/2 turn on low bar – dismount DLO, small hop back. 9.825

Silvers – VT – Cal – in the lineup with her y1.5, hits it but a large bound forward on landing, some leg form position. 9.775

Devries – UB – Oregon St – good first hs – maloney, lower amplitude – hits it into pak – shorter cast hs on high – DLO, lunge back. 9.800

Frazier – VT – Cal – DTY, also a pretty large bounce back for her, another hit. 9.900, so they took for only the landing there.

McMillan – UB – Oregon St – good first hs – toe on to maloney to bail, clean bail, good vertical, some leg break on maloney – DLO, holds onto the stick with a little lean forward. 9.875

Lauzon – VT – Cal – Y1.5, good one, small hop forward, lovely layout position. 9.925

Thompson – UB – Oregon St – maloney to pak, cleanest leg together position – solid 1/2 turn on low – DLO, deep landing with a bound forward. Great on the bars. 9.800

Mayhew – VT – Cal – y1.5, nearly finds the stick on hers, small movement forward, some softer knees and feet, which is clearest when she goes right after Lauzon. 9.850

Carey – UB – Oregon St – maloney to bhardwaj, solid – small arch in hs on low – van leeuwen, leg separation – FTDT, couldn’t quite hold the stick with a step back. 9.800

Cesario stuck her yfull in exhibition for Cal, would have counted if she had been in.

After 1:
Cal 49.300
Oregon State 49.150

Both sides a little lower than they would have wanted. Cal gets four 10.0s into the lineup, just pretty bouncy on the early vaults in that lineup. A solid hit for Oregon State on bars but did not get the Jade score, which usually brings the total up. First time for Oregon State’s bars under 49.300 this year.

Michigan and Nebraska heading toward a conclusion here. Michigan counting 9.875, 9.825, and 9.800 on beam so far.

Bauman – BB – Michigan – up 5th – full turn, hit – bhs loso, small adjustment lean working out of it – sissone to switch 1/2, a tad under, into beat jump, solid connection – straight leg side somi, good – gainer pike, holds onto the landing on her toes, some direction. 9.875

McClelland finishes up her floor in the 5th spot for Nebraska with a rudi to loso that goes too far, back leg lands OOB.

Brooks finishes the day for Michigan on beam – hits her bhs loso loso series – switch to beat is solid – full turn, hit – kickover, small lean adjustment – bhs 2/1, small hop back. 9.925

Michigan finishes 196.900, and with Nebraska counting a fall on beam, this will be a drop score for both.

Rotation 2

Briones – VT – Oregon St – hits yfull, bounce to the side – a bit more chest forward position. 9.800

Li – UB – Cal – good first hs – blind to high jaeger, good – pak, clean – small moment of loose back in final cast hs – giant full, good finish position, into double tuck, small foot movement. 9.875

Garcia – VT – Oregon St – yfull, good one, small bounce back. 9.825

Lauzon – UB – Cal – hits first hs – toe on to maloney to pak, small leg break in maloney, nice pak – 1/2 turn on low bar, probably past her 20 degrees – good cast hs on high – FTDT, sells the landing well there but back onto her heels. 9.825

Gonzales – VT – Oregon St – ro full on back pike, bounce back some direction this week, step to salute after the bounce, no finish position. 9.875

Cesario – UB – Cal – rushes first hs some – jaeger to overshoot, excellent amplitude – DLO, small step back. Solid, not quite as crisp on the handstands today. 9.800

Buckner – VT – Oregon St – y1.5, way short and sits it down

Perea – UB – Cal – good first hs – toe on to pak, lovely – hits hs on low – van leeuwen, legs together – DLO, small hop forward. 9.875

Thompson – VT – Oregon St – yfull, pretty solid control, very small movement, chest a bit forward and some piking. 9.825

Frazier – UB – Cal – good first hs – maloney to pak, hit – solid 1/2 turn vertical position on low – a bit shy on final cast hs – DLO, holds the stick. 9.950.

Esposito – VT – Oregon St – yfull, better open position than the rest of the lineup but a pretty large bounce back. 9.825

Williams – UB – Cal – good first hs – maloney to pak, legs together, lovely – hits cast hs on high – DLO, floaty, step back. 9.850

Landing-only scoring on bars there saddles Cal with 49.375, a low one for them. Oregon State another 49.150 for vault. Cal will need to stick some more beam dismounts to bring the total back up now.

After 2:
Cal 98.675
Oregon State 98.300

Rotation 3

Li – BB – Cal – aerial to bhs, hits combination, wobble working out of it – full turn, smooth – switch to split to beat, hit – gainer tuck full, holds onto landing. 9.900

Big 197.000 final score from Arizona.

Briones – FX – Oregon St – rudi to loso, good direction – switch 1/2, overturns slightly into popa, good split positions – double pike, chest down, little movement forward. 9.825

Williams – BB – Cal – wolf single – aerial to split jump, lovely leg positions – bhs loso, hit, chest down a bit, lean adjustment out of it – switch to split, hit – bhs gainer full, improved today, stuck, some piking. 9.950 is a lot for the layout stepout and the gainer full shape

Miller – FX – Oregon St – back 1.5 to front lay, hit, a little flatter on the lay, under control – switch full, solid – double tuck, a little back with a slide – switch 1/2 to popa – 9.875

Cesario – BB – Cal – full turn – bhs loso, solid landing – switch to switch 1/2, better back leg than most on the switch 1/2 – 1.5 dismount, hop. 9.900

Garcia – FX – Oregon St – back 1.5 to layout, looks like she controlled the landing but her feet are out of shot, because it’s not like that’s an important part or anything – switch side 1/2 to straddle jump  – double tuck, almost totally secure, just a little steppy after landing. 9.900

Frazier – BB – Cal – full turn, little arm wave adjustment – aerial to loso, quickly pulls arms down to prevent any wobbling – split jump to split ring jump, perfection – 1.5 dismount, holds the landing. 9.925

Young – FX – Oregon St – double pike, good chest up position, under control – double tuck, also solid, more front foot movement there though – switch to a ring full, gets bouncy on landing as she tried to pull that around – front lay to front full. 9.850

Lauzon – BB – Cal – wolf single, good – bhs bhs loso, right on, gorgeous – switch to split, nice – 2/1 dismount, high, holds onto the stick with an arm wave. 9.975, really can’t go 10 for that dismount control.

Weaver – FX – Oregon St – double tuck and injured – she’s down, yeouch, immediately went limp in that leg after landing – carried off.

Perea – BB – Cal – wolf single – kickover, keeps moving to back tuck, solid – switch to split to beat, smoothly done – side somi into tuck 1.5 dismount, hop back. 9.925

Esposito – FX – Oregon St – front lay to rudi, pretty rudi, bounce back – split jump full – switch side to split jump full – double pike, chest forward with a step. 9.875

Cal was like, “Ahem, don’t you know we’re the #2 team competing at home???” and goes 49.675 on beam to get on track for a higher 197 if floor delivers. Oregon State gets 5 hits on floor for 49.325, which should keep them on 197 pace if they can get through beam. But they will have to replace Weaver in that lineup. Buckner is the only other one who has competed beam this year, with a 9.125 in the first meet.

Rotation 4

Buckner is into the beam lineup in the second spot in place of Weaver.

Esposito – BB – Oregon St – switch to switch split jump to loso, lovely combination – bhs loso, struggles, large leg up break and lost her body form in that loso – 2/1, holds onto the landing with a bendy right leg but doesn’t move. 9.800

Kane – FX – Cal – front lay to rudi, good rise, a bit of legs and a slide – switch side 1/2 to wolf jump, good – back 1.5 to lay, quick dance out into a pretty split. 9.900, we’re going.

Buckner – BB – Oregon St – full turn, hit – bhs loso, secure – split jump to stag ring, check – side aerial, secure – bhs 1.5, hop forward. 9.800

Williams – FX – Cal – front lay to rudi, good rise, stuck, kind of stuck about an eight of a twist under, so you really saw it as she pivoted to be exactly around – wolf turn attempt, 1.5ish turns and a hand down Paseka style – switch 1/2 to split jump – back 1.5 to layout, hit

McMillan – BB – Oregon St – kickover to korbut, smoothly connected – full turn, good – switch 1/2, under split, small wobble adjustment – switch, little pause before her split jump to beat jump – gainer full dismount, holds onto landing. 9.775

9.800 and 9.500 split for Williams sounds fun. Now we’re on 9.500. Hand down on wolf turn is not scored as a fall, which makes so so much sense.

Cesario – FX – Cal – back 1.5 to front full, solidly done – switch 1/2 to wolf jump full, some arm control in getting that wolf jump around – double tuck, stuck. Good one. 9.875

Young – BB – Oregon St – aerial, leans on her movement into back tuck so will get credit, but an adjustment – split jump, more of a check before split ring jump, good element but risking connections here – gainer front full, stuck. 9.825. Gave her the benefit on her connections.

Lauzon – FX – Cal – front 2/1 to front tuck, controls step forward, stays in – switch ring to switch 1/2, nicely completed – back 1.5 to front full, sells control on the step. And we have a 9.975.

Gonzales – BB – Oregon St – aerial to back tuck, smoothly connected – full turn, hit – cat leap to side aerial, solid – switch to split jump – front gainer full, holds onto landing. Nice one. 9.925

Frazier – FX – Cal – DLO, possibly a small slide back, out of shot, good chest up position – switch ring to switch 1/2 to 1/2 sissone, great – good split ring jump in the corner – front tuck stepout into double tuck, also sells her landing with a little shuffle, chest slightly forward. 9.925

Carey – BB – Oregon St – full turn, hit – aerial to straddle jump, hit – bhs loso, very small arm adjustment out of it – switch, small pause before switch side, wobble, leg arm and an arm swim – gainer full, small bounce back. 9.800

Li – FX – Cal – double tuck, chest up, little rebound – double y, leaning out of it on the second turn but will get credit – front full to front lay, solid – switch to switch ring 1/2, a little bouncy on landing. Solid one. 9.925

Oregon State is done on 196.775, which is a solid enough road mark even though it’s 197 or bust now.

Andi Li goes 9.925 to get Cal to 49.600 on floor and a season high 197.950 final, matching Kentucky for the highest score of the weekend. Did not think we would be getting that high after the first couple rotations, which were sort of just medium.

Meet back here later.

As we look toward UCLA against Washington, UCLA is really going to want to use this opportunity of a home meet to get that kind of 197.5+ score that the top schools have started to establish as necessity. Washington still has to deal with that first-meet 195 so is going to face an uphill battle in the rankings for now, but a nice mid-196 road score would do lovely here.

As for lineups, UCLA is going with Alex Irvine on bars in place of Frida Esparza. Irvine exhibitioned last week for 9.700. Harris has also been shifted to the anchor spot rather than Frazier. Rosen also is making her way into the floor lineup in place of Lee.

Rotation 1

Lee – VT – UCLA – yfull, solid, only small step back with left foot, good amplitude. 9.875

Tubbs – UB – Washington – good first hs – toe on to maloney to bail, small leg break in maloney, good legs together in bail, a little shy of vertical – solid cast hs on high – DLO, leg separation, small step forward. 9.850

Anastasi – VT- UCLA – upgrading to the y1.5 today, but lands super short and sits it down. 9.325

Oppegard – UB – Washington – blind to jaeger, good amplitude – bail, legs together, solid hit – looks shy on these cast handstands from this nothing angle – holds onto DLO landing with a leg separation. 9.825

Rosen – VT – UCLA – y1.5, nice vault, small hop forward, a bit of knees. 9.900

Lin – UB – Washington – clear hip to high gienger, leg break on catch, connects to overshoot – short cast hs – FTDT, chest down, hop forward. 9.775

Campbell – VT – UCLA – yfull, sticks it, good direction and open. This was better than the one she got 9.950 for earlier this year. And she scores 9.950

SKW – UB – Washington – blind to piked jaeger to overshoot, nice position – blidn to front giant 1/2 to double tuck, forward with a hop. 9.850

Harris – VT – UCLA – y1.5, good one, small movement forward and a bit of a step salute. 9.900. They didn’t really leave themselves any room to reward this vault because it was stronger than Rosen’s but also couldn’t really be higher than 9.900

Moody – UB – Washington – good first hs – toe on to maloney to pak, leg break on catch – slight hesitation in 1/2 turn on low bar – good final cast hs – FTDT, chest down, controls landing. 9.850

Reed – VT – UCLA – y1.5, struggles on her landing with a .2 lunge forward and a bit of knees in the air. That one will have to count. 9.775

Russon – UB – Washington – blind to jaeger, good feet, looked like some elbows on catch, connects to overshoot – DLO, finds stick with some pike position. 9.875

UCLA with four good ones so still ends up on a 49.400 there, they’ll have a .150 lead on Washington’s 49.250 on bars.

Rotation 2

Tubbs – VT – Washington – yfull, good height, not the most distance, a bit of direction, hop to the side. 9.750

Campbell – UB – UCLA – good first hs – maloney to bail, very small leg separation – short cast hs on high – blind to double front, cowboy, hop back. 9.850

Innes – VT – Washington – yfull, pretty large bounce back, had the direction, some leg separation in the air. 9.725

Irvine – UB – UCLA – shortish first hs – piked jaeger, takes it too far and falls – resumes, doesn’t redo the skill so won’t get credit for it since she didn’t touch – dismounts FTDT, deep squat, hand down.

Navarro – VT – Washington – yfull, good open in the air, bounce back, some direction. 9.775

Judges conferring on Irvine’s bars score. Which is 8.125 because of not getting her piked jaeger.

Rosen – UB – UCLA – maloney to pak, hit, legs together – pretty solid 1/2 turn finish on low bar – solid cast hs on high – DLO, whippy with a big straddle but gets it, bounce back. 9.875

Lin – VT – Washington – yfull, solid form in the air, fairly large bounce back. 9.725

Malabuyo – UB – UCLA – good first hs – maloney, some leg break there and in back – catches very close on pak but an essential save to muscle out of that and keep going, some elbows, late pirouette – FTDT, stuck. 9.850. One judge went 9.900 there, which is a big choice.

SKW – VT – Washington – yfull, good stick, just some chest down position. 9.875

Frazier – UB – UCLA – maloney to pak, clean work – 1/2 turn on low, solid – rushes final cast hs – DLO, short landing, hop forward. 9.825

Schrady – VT – Washington – doesn’t get much of a block at all on her yfull, low amplitude, very deep landing nearly knee down.

Harris – UB – UCLA – good first hs – Ray, solid – hits cast hs on high, nearly arched it but didn’t, ends up being actively perfect – solid bail – giant full, right on top excellent, DLO, chest down, hop forward. You really have to take .150 for the dismount, for chest position and the .1 hop, but they don’t because they had already gone 9.875 for Rosen and this was better. 9.900.

UCLA survives bars for a solid 49.300, which is on track for what they need today but does exactly nothing to allay the depth fears about this lineup when Malabuyo has her world tour. Washington kind of struggles on vault with a lot of 9.7s counting and a 48.850. A 196 still very doable though.

After 2:
UCLA 98.700
Washington 98.100

Rotation 3

Lee – BB – UCLA – aerial to split jump, good amplitude – bhs loso, good leg position, secure landing – switch to straddle jump, nice – full turn – bhs gainer full, small movement. Lovely start. 9.900

Pires – FX – Washington – back 1.5 to front lay, under control, some leg separation in 1.5 – switch side half to straddle, a bit under on the side 1/2 turn – double tuck, chest down, not much movement on landing but a little rebound in place. 9.775

Rosen – BB – UCLA – switch to split to stag ring, keeps arms moving enough through them, nice amplitude – bhs loso, small lean coming out of it – 1.5 dismount, hop forward. 9.850

Innes – FX – Washington – front 2/1, around, some slide forward – split leap full to popa, around – back 1.5 to front lay, love the amplitude and position on the layout, a bit of control – rudi, controls step back. 9.875

Andres – BB – UCLA – good mount elegance – beat, little pause before switch 1/2, lean wobble – lone loso, check – kickover, a bit deep, keeps moving into korbut, ever so slightly off line but OK – nice stick on 2/1 dismount. 9.850

Lin – FX – Washington – rudi, slide back – switch 1/2 to popa to popa, gets lower in that second popa – back 1.5 to front lay, has to whip over the front lay but gets it – switch 1/2 to 1/2 stag, good. 9.750

Harris – BB – UCLA – bhs loso bhs, right on –  switch to split leap to full nice, nicely done – kickover, holds it – 1.5 dismount, hop forward. 9.900

Navarro – FX – Washington – double tuck, good feet, small rebound – switch side, extra turns it into popa – back 1.5 to front lay – double pike, some soft knees through it but gets it to her feet under control. 9.825

Malabuyo – BB – UCLA – wolf turn – bhs loso, nice – aerial, connects to a high beat jump – split jump to split ring jump – bhs gainer full, stuck. Very good. 9.950

SKW – FX – Washington – front 2/1, mostly controls her step out? – switch to switch ring 1/2, nice rise into second leap – back 1.5 to layout, layout lower, landed short, minimized her step back but it was there. 9.850

Alipio – BB – UCLA – aerial to loso, hits it, good back leg toe point on loso – split leap to switch to beat, solid – full turn, hit – gainer tuck full, chest forward, hop. 9.900

Nguyen – FX – Washington – front full to front pike, you were sure she was going OOB but she didn’t, steps in place/backward – double tuck, hit – switch to switch ring 1/2, very nice – double pike comes up short, chest down, lunge forward. 9.750

Very nice, non-terrifying beam rotation for UCLA for a 49.500, which keeps them where they need to be to let floor take this into the huge-number category. Washington over 49 on floor with a 49.075, but now beam has to deliver to make this one a road score they’d want to count.

After 3:
UCLA 148.200
Washington 147.175

Rotation 4

Hallinan – BB – Washington – kickover, small pause before back tuck but fine, step back – switch, small shoulder drop before split jump – full turn – aerial to beat jump, smooth – 1.5 dismount, some knees, small step forward. 9.825

Malabuyo – FX – UCLA – double tuck, controls the quick step – back 1.5 to layout, solid rise into layout – switch ring to switch 1/2 is excellent – double pike, just a bit chest forward. Nice. Very clean, so we’ll see how high they’re willing to go from the start. 9.875, so kept it together.

Innes – BB – Washington – full turn – aerial to bhs, connected – cat leap to side aerial, small lean correction – switch, wobble before split jump, I’d say broken connection so we’ll see what they say – 1.5 dismount, stuck. 9.750

Rosen – FX – UCLA – DLO, good control, small pike down at the end – double pike, huge rebound back, steps OOB – switch ring to switch 1/2 – 1.5 to front lay to front tuck, controls the step. Hope this doesn’t cost her a spot in the lineup because this should still be there. 9.625

Russon – BB – Washington – aerial, kind of slow into bhs bhs but kept moving – switch to split ring jump, hit, a little lower than some of the other split ring jumps we’ve seen today, check – 1.5, small step back. 9.775

Moors – FX – UCLA – front 2/1 to front tuck, a little short on the front tuck, sells it but definitely a short landing with a step back – lovely loso side pass – switch to switch 1/2 to wolf full – rudi, nice. 9.950. Brooklyn doesn’t have short landings, she has artistic choices.

Navarro – BB – Washington – bhs bhs loso, hit, very small lean – beat to switch side, ever so tight but solid landing – full turn, little check – 1.5 hop forward.  9.800

Harris – FX – UCLA – DLO, good secure landing, chest forward – split leap full to popa, great height on popa – double tuck, nice foot positions, a real controlled landing, like how it’s actually supposed to be – back 1.5 to 1/2 to double stag. Good. 9.925

Moody – BB – Washington – bhs loso, arm wave wobble – switch to split, secure – side aerial, another arm wave lean – redoes the side aerial into a split jump – 1.5 dismount is solid. 9.825

Reed – FX – UCLA – DLO, chest up, good control – struggles some on split leap full to wolf full, has to wrench it around and doesn’t get up to horizontal – front lay to rudi, excellent landing. 9.925, impossibly high score for those missed leaps

SKW – BB – Washington – aerial to bhs loso, right on, good – switch to split, solid – side aerial to 1.5 dismount, small hop. 9.900

Campbell – FX – UCLA – she’s like, excuse me this is a moment, i’m not just going to start with my music in any old place – FTDT, lands kind of on her toes but a good quick hop to present – split leap full to popa, good height – front lay to front full, controls her back foot – double tuck, nice control. Definitely the best routine of the rotation.

9.950 with a 10.000/9.900 split. Probably the right final number there but insufficient separation from others in this rotation that were not as good as this one.

UCLA goes 49.625 on floor to get to 197.825, exactly what they needed from this meet. Washington hits beam to get to 196.300, which is an in-between result. It’s a season high, but the regionals cutoff score projects to be at/over 196.300 this season, so you can’t necessarily keep it.

  1. I just need to know when Stanford is going to grace us with Sienna Robinson’s beautiful gymnastics? One of my most anticipated for this year!

  2. Anyone think the floor scores were a bit high. I saw some deductible movements in most of the routines. I’m beginning to see a pattern with them. I would have put their score about 4-5 tenths lower. I’m not saying they aren’t really good but it’s early in the season for the score elevation. Love watching Maya and Emjay but scoring needs to be real
