It’s an earlier start today with LSU’s visit to Georgia. LSU is coming off a program record last week, and Georgia is coming off a season high of 197.300, which is a legitimately seeded-at-regionals kind of score that Georgia will want to recreate in their second-to-last home meet. LSU recreating last week’s score would be quite a high expectation, but it’s college gymnastics in 2024 so.

Rotation 1

Cashman – VT – Georgia – solid yfull, bounce back and additional step salute, no finish position, some pike. 9.750

Jeffrey – UB – LSU – maloney to bail, hit, just a bit of knees in the shaposh swing back – good hs on high – FTDT, absorbs stick, a little deep. 9.875

Battle – VT – Georgia – long wait, score for Cashman has been in for a while – y1.5, hit, medium hop forward, a bit of knees and we’ll see some with more amplitude. 9.800

Cowan – UB – LSU – hits first hs – Ray, good amplitude into overshoot – hits handstand on high, better toe point there – DLO, hop back. 9.850

LaClair – VT – Georgia – yfull, hit with good distance, bounce back and a leg separation at the end, some pike at the end. 9.725

Johnson – UB – LSU – maloney to bail, good legs together, some loose back position in bail catch today – DLO, good flight, shuffle forward. 9.850

Smith – VT – Georgia – yfull, bounce back, not as much distance as the full from LaClair, a little more closed, good knee position etc as always. 9.825

McClain – UB – LSU – hits Church, a bit of elbows – toe on to pak, good – nice vertical on 1/2 turn on low bar – FTDT, lovely foot position maintained throughout which so few do, step back. 9.875

Scott – VT – Georgia – yfull, best amplitude thus far, bounce back, some direction and a bit of knees.9.825

Schoenherr – UB – LSU – hits first hs – toe 1/2 to jaeger, high, catches a little close today – toe on to bail, legs together well – hits hs on high – double front 1/2 with some flexed feet, hop forward. 9.850

Wahl – VT – Georgia – Y1.5, hit with a medium hop forward, good direction, solid layout position, maybe a little stuff on landing but fine. 9.850

Bryant – UB – LSU – good first hs – blind to jaeger, hit – solid cast hs position – bail, legs together, a slight rhythm moment in there – hits hs on high – double front 1/2 out, step forward. 9.850

Georgia hits vault, but no one nailed a vault for 49.050 there, and similar for LSU on bars for a 49.300. No major errors for LSU’s bars but they’ll be pissed they didn’t stick more. Everyone except Jeffrey had a .100 landing movement in that rotation. (So if you go by that, if they had stuck the whole rotation it would have been a 49.7+)

After 1:
LSU 49.300
Georgia 49.050

Rotation 2

KJ Johnson – VT – LSU – great height on yfull as always, little hop in place and some direction. 9.850

Howard – UB – Georgia – Church, just gets it, connected to overshoot – solid hs on high – giant full, past vertical into double tuck, stuck. 9.850

Finnegan – VT – LSU – Omelianchik, medium bounce forward, great distance, verrry slight tuck at the end. 9.850

Fitzgerald – UB – Georgia – toe on, some elbows, into high tkatchev, hit, connects to overshoot – short cast hs on high – some elbows on these giants – DLO, legs apart, step forward. 9.750

Drayton – VT – LSU – y1.5, nearly excellent but ended up coming in a little bit short and step-shuffled back. 9.825

Wahl – UB – Georgia – good first hs – maloney to pak, legs together solidly – hits 1/2 turn on low bar – DLO, chest forward lean with a step. 9.800

Schoenherr – VT – LSU – Y1.5, hit, another medium hop forward and a bit of direction. 9.825

“Vault used to be just a regular event.” Now it’s a COOL event. Maybe the other events should also try to be as cool and have the normal routine start from 9.950.

Snyder – UB – Georgia – Church, high, just a very bit close, connects to overshoot – giant full on high, a little past, pretty double tuck,  stuck. 9.875

Kiya Johnson – VT – LSU – hits a good DTY, shuffle back with both feet, leg separation on the block. 9.900.

Scott – UB – Georgia – Ray to pak, lovely, high with pretty form – van leeuwen, hit – rushing her handstands some in here – DLO, step forward. 9.850

Bryant – VT – LSU – nearly comes up with the stick on her handspring pike 1/2, can’t quite hold onto it with a hop to the side. Still goes 9.950.

Smith – UB – Georgia – good first hs – maloney to bail, legs together cleanly – FTDT, chest down, step forward. 9.875

LSU picks up the big numbers at the end there on the last two to get to 49.375 on vault, but didn’t have the landings for most of the rotation. Georgia goes 49.250 on bars so doesn’t lose too much ground in there.

After 2:
LSU 98.675
Georgia 98.300

Bridget has her “early final 8” and said BYE UTAH.

Rotation 3

Howard – BB – Georgia – good full turn – bhs loso, secure landing – sissone to switch 1/2, small arm wave working out of it – side aerial, holds it – it’s tough to look like your legs are extended with a big old knee brace but she does a solid job, stuck gainer full. 9.850

But also what is this sparkly skid mark that the Georgia gymnasts have on their faces?

Dunne – FX – LSU – front through to double tuck, chest down with a step forward – switch to switch ring 1/2, nice ring position, a little steppy on landing – y spin – double pike, hit, just a bit of chest position and a small step shuffle to the side. 9.800

Morgan – BB – Georgia – full turn, good – bhs loso, secure – sissone to switch 1/2, a bit under on sissone, secure switch side 1/2 – side aerial, slightly tentative on landing – 1.5 dismount, some leg separation, step forward. 9.825

Drayton – FX – LSU – DLO, so high, but does step forward – front tuck through to double tuck, has more than enough height but also some chest position small movement forward on landing – wolf turn – switch ring to switch 1/2 – 9.825

Battle – BB – Georgia – full turn – arm wave on split jump 3/4 – switch to split, looked a bit under from our angle – kickover to beat jump, good quick connection – bhs loso, solid – high gainer full, can’t hold her finish position with a step back. 9.875

KJ Johnson – FX – LSU – FTDT, great form, step does go forward though – 1.5 to front lay, clean lay position, does a good job to control that back foot – switch side to popa, high, excellent – double tuck, good chest up landing. 9.900

Turner – BB – Georgia – full turn, hit – bhs loso loso, looked off line throughout and falls, just as Bridget was like, “Courtney wants this team to RISE…oh” – resumes with a hit switch to split – 1.5 dismount, hop forward. 9.100

Finnegan – FX – LSU – double arabian, real amplitude on the stag jump this week – switch ring to split leap full, clean – 2.5 to front tuck, just a bit under with a step back – 9.925

Smith – BB – Georgia – aerial, lovely, connects to bhs bhs, secure, kept moving enough – switch to split leap, large break on split leap, two arm circles with a lean to hold it on – kickover, nice – gainer full, holds onto stick. 9.875 is somewhat kind to that double arm circle.

Bryant – FX – LSU – double front, high, another one with a step back on a forward landing though, so they’re giving away some value here – switch leap through to switch 1/1, a quarter-ish under rotated? – aerial – front lay to rudi, good. 9.950

Scott – BB – Georgia – full turn, hit – fhs, keeps arms moving to bhs loso, solid landing – aerial to split to bhs, good smooth rhythm in that connection – split leap to switch, hit – front full dismount, step forward. 9.875

Kiya Johnson – FX – LSU – FTDT, bit of movement back – back 1.5 to front lay, pretty layout, controls her step – switch 1/2 to popa, more than enough height, good completion – double pike, chest up, again just a little movement. 9.925

Hit rotations from both there, and we’re loosening up in the scores, hitting the bottle a little bit here. Georgia goes 49.300 on beam and LSU 49.525 on floor. LSU will take the number but will probably feel the same way about vault and floor with not getting enough of those landings.

After 3:
LSU 148.200
Georgia 147.600

Also why are there no live scores for Kentucky/Missouri and who do we get arrested for that?

Rotation 4

Ballard – BB – LSU – bhs loso, wobble – full turn – sissone, into switch 1/2, with a little arm wave – kickover, again small adjustment to hold – hitting but fighting it ever so slightly here – 1.5 dismount, step. 9.825

Battle – FX – Georgia – hand down on front double full – switch side to popa, tighter in the positions there – front tuck through to double tuck, hop forward. 9.125

Meanwhile Makenzie Wilson stuck another handspring pike 1/2 for Kentucky. 9.950, Kentucky vaults 49.500

Jeffrey – BB – LSU – wolf single, good – cat leap to switch side, small lean – bhs loso, securely done – standing front, deeper with a hop forward and then another slide – 1.5 dismount, short with lunge back and some direction. 9.775

Fitzgerald – FX – Georgia – rudi to loso, some leg separation in rudi – switch side to wolf full, around, step back on landing – double tuck, good control. 9.850

McClain – BB – LSU – switch to switch 1/2, hit – aerial to bhs, smoothly connected – wolf jump, correct – full turn – side aerial, hit – gainer full, holds stick with a lean forward. 9.925

LaClair – FX – Georgia – front full through to 2/1, bounce back – switch side 1/2 to straddle jump – rudi to loso, with some angle lean. 9.875

Johnson – BB – LSU – full turn, hit – bhs loso series, arm wave correction – switch to switch, another checky lean there to hold onto the combination – kickover, small lean – 2/1, good stick, a bit of stagger. 9.850

Cashman – FX – Georgia – back 1.5 to front lay, hit under control – switch side 1/2 to popa, some feet and position – double tuck, rebound. 9.900

Bryant – BB – LSU – aerial to bhs, smoothly hit – switch to straddle 1/4, a bit tight in straddle 1/4 position – full turn – kickover, small lean – split jump – rudi, looks like some small movement but we couldn’t see.

And Bryant got a 10 for an obvious wobble correction on her standing front, so that’s fun.

Wahl – FX – Georgia – FTDT, under control, leg separation at the shins – split leap full to wolf full, step back – front tuck to doubel tuck, some legs apart, step forward

Finnegan – BB – LSU – bhs loso loso, big break, leg up wobble and a step forward, so they might take .000000001 for that – switch to split jump – aerial – gainer full, hop back. 9.825. So what did you end up taking for that massive multi tenth wobble?

Smith – FX – Georgia – front 2/1, presents to the side – back 1.5 to front lay, lovely form, not the highest – switch side to wolf full, has to wrench that around a little today and ends up under on the wolf position – rudi to straddle jump. 9.950.

We went deeply wild at the end there, so LSU goes 49.425 on beam for a 197.625 total, and Georgia goes 49.475 on floor for 197.075. Not breaking any SEC scoring stereotypes with how that meet ended.

Florida and Arkansas is underway now,

Lazzari 2nd on vault for Florida, following 9.875 for Draser, pretty solid y1.5 for Lazzari, hop forward and then no finish position. 9.825

Love the graphic of a “Yurchenko full breakdown” for Lazzari’s 1.5.

Pratt – UB – Arkansas – folloiwing a 9.825 – Ray, hit with some feet – bail, good legs together – solid cast hs position on high – DLO, slight piking, slide back. 9.825

Blakely – VT – Florida – y1.5, short landing today with a pretty big lunge back. 9.675

Drotar – UB – Arkansas – good first hs – toe on to maloney, some leg break into bail, hits her vertical – good hs on high – DLO, has the amplitude but overdoes it with a lunge back and an additional step. 9.850

Pilgrim – VT – Florida – y1.5, solid work, small hop forward and a bit of knees. 9.900

Scalzo – UB – Arkansas – good first hs – blind to jaeger, hit into overshoot, good height on jaeger – good DLO, bounce back. 9.875

Ferris – VT – Florida – y1.5, a little bit of movement, good control overall, small leg movement at the end. 9.950

Going to the 10-reaction-anticipation cam for a non-stuck vault is my cause of death.

Park – UB – Arkansas – toe on to Ray, nice foot positions – pak, small leg separation – DLO, slightly whippy with a step forward. 9.800

Wong – VT – Florida – ro 1/2 on pike 1/2, little hop back and some direction. 9.925

Jones – UB – Arkansas – good first hs – piked jaeger, hit – arches cast hs on high and has to go over, ultimately hops off – resumes with a hit pak – shy cast hs on high – DLO, step back

It’s 49.475 on vault, much more the score they were looking for on vault. Some better control from several gymnasts this week. Arkansas drops the fall on bars to go 49.175, which is a deficit but a manageable total.

Rotation 2

Weaver – VT – Arkansas – good leg form through the yfull, holds onto the stuck with a lean forward and arm circle. 9.750

Blakely – UB – Florida – cast, hit – maloney with with a leg separation into pak, hit – a bit shy on cast hs on high – some elbows in there – double front, step back. 9.825

Park – VT – Arkansas – yfull, small hop back, some leg separation, not the biggest. 9.775

Nguyen – UB – Florida – good first hs – maloney and can’t catch, fall – redoes the skill and hits it into pak – good final cast hs on high – DLO, step back. 9.300

Smith – VT – Arkansas – yfull, better height on the block, bounce back, small amount of direction. 9.800

Disidore – UB – Florida – maloney to pak, solid – hits cast hs on low – van leeuwen, small foot separation, a bit shy on final hs – DLO, pikes it down some at the end to find the landing, small slide back. And a 9.900

SEC Network protractor pausing before she finished the final handstand, making it look like it was within 10. You were right the first time Sam.

Price – VT – Arkansas – yfull, good distance, bounce back. 9.800

Pilgrim – UB – Florida – maloney to pak, hit, a little low on the amplitude on maloney but good form – nice 1/2 turn position on low – FTDT, leg separation, nice stuck landing. 9.950, here we go.

Klein – VT – Arkansas, hits her Y1.5, medium step forward, not quite as high as their best fulls. 9.800

Lazzari – UB – Florida – tkatchev, nice foot positions, not the most amplitude but pretty position – toe on to pak, great height, small leg separation at the end – FTDT, little hop in place. 9.925

Williams – VT – Arkansas – y1.5, solid form, small hop forward. Good one. 9.850

Wong – UB – Florida – good first hs – maloney to pak, hit, very small leg separations they won’t see – van leeuwen, legs together well – handstands probably within 10 here – DLO, stuck landing. I mean if they went 9.950 for Pilgrim’s.

And it’s a 10 for Wong.

Arkansas a little hoppy and not Florida on vault to go 49.025. Florida gets the 10 for Wong to go 49.600 and be above 198 pace after two events. Florida very much on track to get the score they need today.

After 2:
Florida 99.075
Arkansas 98.200

Rotation 3

Draser – BB – Florida – bhs loso, solid landing – switch, small rhythm pause before switch 1/2, a bit under position – full turn, check – 1.5 dismount, small leg separation, stuck. 9.875

Klein – FX – Arkansas – front loso to double tuck, under control, chest down – switch side and some more into straddle 3/4 – double pike, chest also down there – 9.850

Not leaving a lot of room for themselves on either event after the first routine…

Blakely – BB – Florida – aerial to bhs, keeps moving through a bit of a lean, and a check at the end – split leap to switch 1/2, to beat, securely hit, some feet on switch – full turn – switch to gainer full, hop back. 9.825

Park – FX – Arkansas – FTDT, some leg separation at the end, slide back – double tuck, some feet, bit of movement – switch 1/2 to wolf full, around well – back 1.5 to lay. 9.825

Pilgrim – BB – Florida – candle mount, good vertical – bhs loso, good, secure landing – full turn, ever so slightly hesitant – beat to aerial, smooth – switch to split leap, nice – gainer full, stuck. Very nice. 9.900.

Jones – FX – Arkansas – controls step on front 2/1 – switch ring to switch 1/2, good feet – 1.5 to front lay, pulls around front lay – rudi, step under control. 9.875

Lazzari – BB – Florida – bhs loso loso, arm wave wobble – switch to split, good form – aerial, covers well, was a little under but didn’t wobble – full turn, good – gainer full, chest down with a hop forward. 9.775

Smith – FX – Arkansas – fornt loso to double tuck, a bit shy with a hop forward – switch side, turns into landing to popa – double pike, good landing control. 9.850

Nguyen – BB – Florida – onodi, connects to bhs – switch to split jump, lean in the connection but connected them – pretty long wait before dismount – 1.5 dismount, good stick. 9.925

Williams – FX – Arkansas – FTDT, controls step, better position than most on that element – back 1.5 to front lay, nice crisp layout position, slide forward – switch side to popa, good height – double tuck, under control well. 9.900

Wong – BB – Florida – switch, moves through to split leap – bhs loso, smooth – full turn, holds it – aerial, arm waves through to beat jump – 2/1, nearly finds the stick with a step back. 9.925, so they gave her benefit of the doubt on those covers in there.

Price – FX – Arkansas – DLO, controls the step, chest just a touch forward – switch side to popa to popa, crazy height on final popa, great rise through the combination – front full to lay, a little low amplitudey on the lay so had to form it. 9.950

Florida goes 49.450 on beam to stay over 198 pace, 148.525 after three. Arkansas again close with a 49.425 on floor but will have to go to beam now. But a 197 for Arkansas still very doable.

After 3:
Florida 148.525
Arkansas 147.625

Rotation 4

Gamiao – BB – Arkansas – standing loso loso, hit, very small squeeze lean – side somi, smooth – switch to split, looked a little tight – 1.5, nice stuck landing. 9.925, and matches the top Florida score on beam.

Brubach – FX – Florida – front lay to rudi, under control, bit of knees – switch 1/2 to wolf full – double tuck, some feet flexing, under control on landing again. 9.900

Jones – BB – Arkansas – aerial to bhs bhs and falls, shame because that was a nice quick connection – split jump to stag ring, didn’t really GO for those positions – front full dismount, stuck. 9.025

Nguyen – FX – Florida – front 2/1 to a hilarious split jump where she was literally moving backwards and underground because she was under on the front 2/1, landed that split jump in a full straddle – switch ring to switch 1/2, lovely – back 1.5 to front lay, under control. And then she missed her hands on her Gator chomp. Victoria Nguyen you are the funniest person out there.

9.800 including comedy bonus I guess.

Williams – bhs loso, hit – switch to straddle 1/4, hit a bit tentative in switch – kickover, lean correction – 1.5 dismount, hop forward. 9.800

Hurd – FX – Florida – front lay to rudi, a bit steppy with a lean to make sure she stayed in bounds – switch ring, misses her steps but was able to fake her second split element better than most, lost her toe point – double pike, chest down some. 9.850, also I think got a bunch of comedy bonus for that dance combination?

Weaver – BB – Arkansas – bhs loso, secure, a bit of knees – straddle jump to stag ring, hit, despite being off line – side aerial, lean – full turn, tentative, little arm wave – 1.5, stuck. 9.825

Pilgrim – FX – Florida – front tuck through to double tuck, cowboys some, good chest up and control – split leap full to jump full jump full, nice split positions – double pike, a bit out of control with a slide back. 9.850

Linton – BB – Arkansas – wolf double wobble correction starts to stand it up to pull it around – bhs bhs loso, arm wave, leans back and ends up with a leg up wobble – switch to split, a bit under –  1.5 dismount, hop forward. 9.725

Blakely – FX – Florida – front tuck through to double tuck, good height on the front tuck, bounce back at the end – switch to switch ring 1/2, looked unusually under on that first switch – back 1.5 to front full, hit, a bit of knees. 9.850

Park – BB – Arkansas – full turn, hit – bhs loso loso and falls – so what was going to be a nice total for Arkansas has become a drop road score with two beam falls and the counting 9.7 –

Wong – FX – Florida – wolf double, hit – does her DLO, under control comfortably, chest just a little bit forward – switch 1/2 to popa, nice – back 1/2 to front full, landed under and stepped out to try to cover into an elegance. The Florida School of You Didn’t See That was all over the world tonight. 9.875

Arkansas still gets over 196 for a 196.050 but that won’t be a satisfying total now. Florida goes 197.850, a big step up in scoring for them. Not the 198 it could have been with the home meet and the judging and whatnot, but a step up.

I’ll be back here for the start of UCLA/Oregon State.

No Chae Campbell or Nya Reed in the lineups for UCLA today. Meanwhile, Jade is like, “It’s win time” and is in the AA.

I feel like a lot of NCAA teams have gone away from the “exploring depth road meet” in recent years, but this is a bit of an exploring depth road meet lineup for UCLA, if by choice or necessity.

Yikes, we’re seeing a replay of Sydney Gonzales getting injured in floor warmups for Oregon State.

Rotation 1

Briones – VT – Oregon St – solid control on yfull landing, small bounce back, some pike, and we’ll see higher and farther vaults. 9.825

Rosen – UB – UCLA – hits first hs – maloney to pak, good legs on maloney, very small leg break on pak – 1/2 turn on low – hits high bar cast to vertical – some elbows in giants – DLO, legs apart, small bounce back. 9.875

Thompson – VT – Oregon St – yfull, bounce back, a bit larger on the bounce than Briones but also a higher vault – some leg separation on block. 9.750

Irvine – UB – UCLA – hits first hs – blind to piked jaeger, too far and falls – once again she’ll resume without redoing the skill – and does just an overshoot with leg separation – FTDT, step back. 8.725

Garcia – VT – Oregon St – yfull, solid one, hop back, good direction – 9.825

Malabuyo – UB – UCLA – hits maloney to pak, small leg separations – rushes the 1/2 turn vertical on low bar – nice cast hs on high – FTDT, bounce back. 9.800

Buckner – VT – Oregon St – Y1.5, lands short and sits it down with a hand back. 9.275

Frazier – UB – UCLA – maloney to pak, great amplitude – nice 1/2 turn position on low – a bit shy on final cast hs – DLO, hop up in place. Her best of the year. 9.900

Esposito – VT – Oregon St – Yfull, strong amplitude there, hop up in place. 9.900

Esparza – UB – UCLA – maloney to pak, good height, hit – hits cast hs on low – van leeuwen, legs together well – short cast hs on high – DLO, small leg break, absorbs the landing. Good one. 9.925

Carey – VT – Oregon St – yfull, is like lolll why is this so easy – bounce and a leg separation, 9.875

Harris – UB – UCLA – good first hs – Ray, solid – nice hs on high – bail, small pike on the way, good vertical in the end – nice hs on high – giant full, finishes good vertical – DLO holds onto the stick. 9.950

UCLA gets to 49.450 in the end there on bars, dropping the traditional one fall. They’ll take the total. Oregon State goes 49.175 on vault.

Rotation 2

Anastasi  – VT – UCLA – yfull, medium bounce back, solid distance, some leg separation at the end. 9.775

Esposito – UB – Oregon St – Ray, some feet but nice amplitude, connects to overshoot – late giant full on high, connected to open double tuck, good stick. 9.825

Irvine – VT – UCLA – ro full on back pike, shows good control on landing with a small step forward, and chest down. Good improvement from when we saw it at MTB. 9.850

Briones – UB – Oregon St – good first hs vertical – maloney with legs together into pak, more of a leg break there – 1/2 turn on low – DLO, slide back and then an additional small step. 9.775

Anyimi – VT – UCLA – yfull, nice amplitude and some of her best control, hop back and some foot flexing. 9.800

DeVries – UB – Oregon St – small arch in first hs, pulls it back – maloney to pak, hit, a bit low on amplitude – 1/2 turn on low – rushes a bit on final cast hs – DLO, lunge back. 9.750

Lee – VT – UCLA – yfull, best of the bunch yet, small slide back, better leg position. 9.800. Would have expected that to go up from Anyimi, a stronger vault than some of the Oregon St 9.825s.

McMillan – UB – Oregon St – rushes first hs a bit – toe on to maloney to bail, good vertical on bail, very small leg break on maloney – DLO, slight piking, good stick.9.875

Rosen – VT – UCLA – hits her y1.5, steppy on landing with a hop to the side and another step, some knee bending. 9.825

Thompson – UB – Oregon St – maloney to pak, good form – 1/2 turn on low bar, hit – DLO, holds the stick. Nice one. We’ll see where they’re willing to go because it was a step up on McMillan’s. 9.950 with a 10/9.900 split

Harris – VT – UCLA – excellent stick on her y1.5, we’ll see if they deduct for that little bit of knees or not. They don’t. And it’s a 10 for Harris.

Carey – UB – Oregon St – maloney to bhardwaj, hit smoothly – van leeuwen, some of her better leg position on that one – FTDT, small hop back. 9.925

UCLA goes 49.275 thanks to Harris. Pretty much about what they could have hoped for with this depleted lineup. They’ll lose a bit of ground to Oregon State’s 49.350 on bars.

After 2:
UCLA 98.725
Oregon State 98.525

Rotation 3

Esposito – BB – Oregon St – switch to switch split jump to bhs, nice connection – “they started to play Beach Boys and then turned it off” – bhs loso, hit, a bit of leg form – full turn – 2/1, nice form, hop back

Malabuyo – FX – UCLA – and now she has to step off what with music being such a challenging concept – double tuck, bounce back – back 1.5 to front lay, under control – switch ring, steps like Morgan earlier, makes it into her second element but not as high as she would have – double pike, chest a bit down, hop to present. 9.825

Buckner – BB – Oregon St – full turn – bhs loso, hit, some knees in bhs, stronger loso, solid landing – split jump to stag ring, some leg, short back leg on split jump – side aerial, very large break, grabs her calves to stay on, bend at the hips past horizontal – 1.5 dismount, very deep, hop back. 9.425.

Andres – FX – UCLA – back 2.5 to front tuck, gets it to her feet securely, front tuck shot out horizontally, so should see an amplitude deduction – double tuck, hit – switch side 1/2 ish to straddle 1/2 ish – switch – 9.900, a bit high for me there

McMillan – BB – Oregon St – kickover, lean pause before korbut, does it, off line a bit on korbut – probably gets the connection but should see a rhythm deduction – full turn – switch – split jump, little arm wave before hit split ring jump – gainer full, chest forward, hop back. 9.725

Lee – FX – UCLA – double tuck, solid control – front lay to front full, some knees at the end – switch ring to switch 1/2 – double pike, chest down, pulls it out with a step forward. 9.825

Young – BB – Oregon St – aerial, arm wave – bhs loso, high but a step back, and flexed feet on both – split to split ring jump – front full, holds the landing with a lean. 9.825

Rosen – FX – UCLA – DLO, good control, some chest position at the end – “watch her commitment to this witchcraft” – double tuck, controls step back, good – switch ring to switch 1/2 – 1.5 to front lay to front tuck, slide forward. 9.925

Carey – BB – Oregon St –  full turn, hit – aerial, connects to straddle – bhs loso, hit – switch 1/2, little pause before split jump, arm wave correction – gainer full, holds it. 9.900

Moors – FX – UCLA – front 2/1 to front tuck, quick present, but not a short landing like we’ve seen this year – switch to switch 1/2 to wolf full, good – rudi, controls the step. Her best of the year. 9.950

Thompson – BB – Oregon St – candle mount – bhs loso, wobble, arm wave and turn to the side – switch to wolf jump full was VERY tight, well short of position and falls – side somi, hit – front full, stuck. So Oregon State will be 48.725 on beam counting a 9.425.

Harris – FX – UCLA – DLO, mostly dance/covers the movement out of it – split leap full to popa, good – double tuck, chest down, hop forward – 1.5 to 1/2 to double stag, controls with an arm wave. 9.850

UCLA goes 49.450 on floor to Oregon State’s 48.725 on beam to extend the lead.

After 3:
UCLA 148.175
Oregon State 147.250

Rotation 4

Lee – BB – UCLA – aerial, small pause before split jump but will get the combination – bhs loso, very small squeeze lean on landing – switch to straddle jump, nice – full turn – gainer full, hop back. Not her crispity crispest but hit. And she gets the same score for it. 9.875.

Garcia – FX – Oregon St – tuck jump full, good – back 1.5 to layout, hit, solid layout position – some deep Noel Couch vibes – switch side 1/2 to popa, hit – double tuck, solid control. 9.875

Rosen – BB – UCLA – switch to split to double stag, solid first two, low position on the stag with a lean – aerial, hit – bhs loso, lovely – full turn, hit – 1.5 dismount, hop to the side. 9.800

Miller – FX – Oregon St – back 1.5 to front lay, little slide – switch 1/1, around – double tuck, just a bit flat – switch 1/2 to popa, around, shortish positions. 9.850

Andres – BB – UCLA – beat to switch 1/2, hit – gainer loso secure with some foot flexing – kickover, deep and off line, falls – redoes the kickover, with another lean, so just does the korbut in isolation, so no acro series here – 2/1, small step back, some knees. 8.900

Chavez – FX – Oregon St – double pike, hit, small slide with some knees in the air – switch 1/2 to wolf full, a bit under in the wolf position – back 1.5 to front lay, hit – double tuck, little rebound, some feet. 9.850

Harris – BB – UCLA – bhs loso bhs series, solid – switch to split leap to full turn, gets the combination – kickover, right on – 1.5 dismount, holds onto stick. Good one. 9.950

Esposito – FX – Oregon St – front lay to rudi, good rise, bounce back – split jump full – switch side, overturns to split jump full – double pike, great height – 9.950, watch out for Jade’s 13.

Malabuyo – BB – UCLA – wolf single, hit – bhs loso series, great feet – almost wobbled on choreography before making it rain – aerial, holds it – split jump to split ring jump, little lean before beat jump – bhs gainer full, bounce back. 9.875

Young – FX – Oregon St – double pike, chest forward, hop – double tuck, good control – switch to split ring full – front lay front full, controls step, a little low, 9.850

Alipio – BB – UCLA – aerial to loso, good feet in loso, small check – and then a huge break on choreography, arm wave, leg up – split to switch to beat, lovely, hit – full turn, wobble – gainer tuck full, stuck.

9.750 for Alipio has to count, putting UCLA on 49.250 on beam and a 197.425 final.

Carey – FX – Oregon St – front through to double pike, bounce back, just does keep it in bounds – switch 1/2 to popa – double tuck, bounce back. 9.925

So it’s a road high for UCLA but not a huge number. Oregon State goes 196.700, which is their #3 score on the year but inhibited by counting a 9.4 on beam.

  1. Konnor out of floor rotation b/c her back is bothering her. My first 0 in my fantasy line up this week. Hopefully she’s feeling better soon and I get no more zeros.

  2. LSU under rotating almost every tumbling pass and Bridget not pointing it out talking about “that was a great landing” is driving me crazy

    1. Bryant has been getting some ridiculous scores in recent weeks. She’s a wonderful gymnast, as you said, but she does make mistakes, and the judges seem to be blind to them for some reason.

  3. Ohio State just put up a huge 49.525 on beam. Looks like McCann was moved to exhibition and Warga was in. If they can keep that beam line up going, they’ll have so much potential moving forward.

Also, it will be a travesty if Ella Hodges doesn’t make it to nationals this year.

  4. KY/Missouri has scores now. Looks like Bunn is out today. Hopefully it’s illness and not an injury!

  5. Is there a policy regarding where coaches can stand while spotting bars dismounts? I’ve noticed a few coaches that stand in the direct line of sight of the judges to the dismounts; thus, there is absolutely no way a judge would be able to see whether an athlete stuck or stepped. The coach blocks their view of the landing.

I know other sports will issue a warning and then a penalty for any kind of interference, even if unintentional.

  6. People laughed when the commenter in this section said Oklahoma was being screwed in the 10 department. Bowers nailed her vault with legs together, no preflight issues. That was a 10. Her score was only a 9.975.

    1. Poor Oklahoma. Never getting high scores and the judges hate them.

*checks notes* 198.450?!?! One of the highest scores ever?!?! Please! Oklahoma fans are insufferable.

      1. What does the team’s success have to do with individual results being fair? So much bitterness against Oklahoma because they are that much better than every other team. That is a loser mentality.

I am sorry your team is inferior to the point you need to come and ridicule judges cheating to make yourself feel better. Oklahoma is the one team deserving of their scores, unlike UCLA. Be a grownup .

      2. @Brianna

Team results are the cumulative total of individual scores. Thus, if the team is consistently overscored, then so are the individual athletes. I highly encourage you to watch a bunch of meets (from all conferences) and judge them for yourself. Do everything you can to be unbiased. I did that last year and I’m doing it again this year. The top 5 overscored teams I had last year: LSU, Florida, Arkansas, Oklahoma, and UCLA (Auburn and Utah were also very close to top 5). I never would have guessed Oklahoma would be in my top five when I started. It’s easy as a fan to want to defend your team no matter what. Michigan is also high in the list this year — another one I probably wouldn’t have guessed coming in.

Also, the focus on 10s is crazy to me. There are so many amazing athletes that never received a 10. Bowers has a 10 and a ton of 9.95/9.975s. It’s not as if she is consistently underscored. Davis’s bars dismount leaves room for deduction. Instead of enjoying an amazing run, Oklahoma fans leave comments acting like there is some judges conspiracy to keep them down. If that were true, Oklahoma wouldn’t be number one with so many titles.

As a side note, my team isn’t in the title picture. I watch the sport because I love it and I’ve watched since the early-2000s. Dynasties happen. It was UCLA when I started, then Georgia, then Florida, and now Oklahoma. There will be another team next. Enjoy your ride and support your team. Please don’t jump on every single person that disagrees with your team scores.

You should take your own advice and grow up (or go outside and breathe some fresh air to realize there is more to life than Oklahoma sports).

  7. Once Alex Irvine catches her jaeger, I think she will be a good option for that lineup. Overall she looks pretty clean on bars. Although we’re yet to see a full routine, it looks like an adrenaline/confidence issue right now.

  8. Jade Carey must be giving blowjobs behind the scenes to receive these scores. The bent legs, the flat feet, 9.925 MY ASS
