We have 11 of the top 15 teams in action today and a pretty packed TV slate.
Initial observations of early lineups are that Lily Smith is in Georgia’s bars lineup after being out the first two weeks on that event, but we’re sans Ja’Free Scott entirely. Big pressure Georgia beam lineup to end the meet with Wahl making her season debut, Tomlin making her career debut, and Gleichowski anchoring after two 9.125s.
Florida, meanwhile, doesn’t have Danie Ferris in the vault six so far. Alabama has Sears ready to make her season debut on floor, while Oklahoma is going five in the AA with no Dani Sievers again.
Cecile described as Simone’s “most heralded” coach. That sound you hear is Aimee buying some dynamite.
ROTATION 1
Pilgrim – vt – Florida – pretty large lunge forward on y1.5, less control than her usual. 9.850 too high to start for that landing
Howard – ub – Georgia – church to overshoot, big height – full to double3 tuck, hop back. 9.850
Lazzari – vt – florida – similar lunge forward on y1.5, a little lower than Pilgrim’s. 9.775
Berry – ub – Georgia – toe to maloney,. good form into pak – can’t cast up, leg break and extra cast – double tuck, chest down with hop
Bui – vt – florida – y1.5, smaller hop tothe side, good distance, a little deep. 9.925 also quite high
Mason – ub – georgia – piked jaeger to overshoot is hit – giant to double tuck, step back. 9.750
Blakely – vt – florida, y1.5, good form and distance, step forward. 9.900 with one tenth step, so only took that. One judge gave impossible 9l950
Wahl – ub – georgia – maloney to pak, good form, legs together – solid hs positions, dlo, stuck. 9.900
Wong – vt – florida – 1/2 on pike 1/2, good height, medium hop back. 9.925
Snyder – ub – georgia – high church to overshoot – full to double tuck, small movement and then an arm wave step, so gave away a bunch on landing there. 9.775
Harris – vt – florida – good control on y1.5, holds onto the landing – slight leg form, not as much distance as the others. 9.950
Smith – ub – georgia – pretty maloney to bail, little arch, good hs on high – chest forward on double tuck with step. 9.875
After 1: Florida 49.550, Georgia 49.150
Impossible scores abound in that Florida vault lineup, especially one 9.950 for a minimum .1 step on Blakely.
Odd in memoriam song choice for this Blakely fluff.
A look back at that time Simone smiled at the camera at Georgia.
Rotation 2
Howard – vt – georgia – good high yfull, solid control. 9.850
Blakely – ub – florida – maloney slightly low to nice pak – blind to double front, step back. 9.825
king – vt – georgia – yfull, large bounce back. 9.800 still.
Pilgrim – ub – florida – good first hs – clean pak – slight hip angle on low – van leeuwen, small leg form – ftdt, good stick
Bacskay – vt – georgia – y1.5, medium step forward, knee bending. 9.825
McCusker – ub – florida – maloney to pak, legs together – van leeuwen clean – good hs – dlo, legs apart, small hop. Good improvement. 9.875
Smith – vt – georgia – y1.5, much better, only small movement forward, not a ton of distance. 9.875
Skye blakely – ub – florida – ricna “stalder ray” to pak, good height – tight hs on high – double front 1/2, small step back. 9.900
Aquino – vt — georgia – clean tsuk 1/1 – pretty laid out, small .05 movement back. 9.925
Harris – ub – florida – ray, good – bail, big arch, pulls it back – solid hs on high – dlo, piking, good stick. 9.850
Wahl – vt – georgia – solid y1.5 form, medium hop forward. 9.850
Wong – ub – florida – maloney to pak, small leg separation – a little tight on hs – van leeuwen, good – dlo, can’t hold onto landing, chest forward with step. 9.875
After 2: Florida 98.950, Georgia 98.475
Georgia with some soft evaluation on vault but not as soft as Florida’s. Solid bars rotation for Florida, big progress point for McCusker.
Rotation 3
Draser – bb – florida – bhs loso, secure – switch, little pause to switch 1/2, under split, secure – small adjustment on full turn – 1.5, good stick, some leg crossing. 9.900, it begins
Williams – fx – georgia – double pike, good form and control – switch side 1/4, overturn, to straddle 3/4 – front lay to front full, lopw, gets ejected some on landing for an awkward lunge – double tuck, solid. 9.700
Blakely – bb – florida – aerial to bhs, smooth – split to switch 1/2 to beat, secure – full turn – gainer full, little rebound. 9.950, had to because it was better than draser, but judging themselves into a corner here
King – fx – georgia – front 2/1 to front tuck, uncontrolled rebound – switch side to popa, solid finish – back 1.5 to layout, a little low with a crossover step – 9.750
Pilgrim – bb – florida – candle mount – bhs loso, hit, a little low waver – full turn – cat leap to aerial, smooth – switch to split leap, good – gainer full, nice stick. 9.950.
Bacskay – fx – georgia – 2.5 to front tuck, solid – 2/1, nice control shown – switch side to popa, good height – double pike, chest down, great control again, good one. 9.850
Nguyen – bb – florida – onodi to bhs, good rhythm – full turn – switch to split, good positions – 1.5 dmt, small slide back. oh look another 9.950.
Aquino – fx – georgia – front tuck to double tuck, good form, bounce back – switch 1/2 to wolf 1.5, good height, around, short of split on switch – high double pike, another bounce back. 9.875, getting a little reflected florida glow in that score there
Wong – bb – florida – switch mount, big break, grabs the beam. 9.950???? they were ready to give her a 10. No trouble on loso series. sticks gainer tuck full. 9.625
Wahl – fx – georgia – ftdt, lean on landing to try to control – switch to switch full to wolf full, solid, around – fron t tuck to double tuck, chest down, under control. 9.825
Harris – bb – florida – bhs loso bhs, solid – switch to split, nice – kickover, wobble – 1.5 dmt, holds stick with lean. 9.925 also impossible.
Smith – fx – georgia – front 2/1 shows control – back 1.5 to very low connection tucks, deep squat, just avoids fall – rudi to straddle is solid. 9.550
GOOD THING WE FIXED THE JUDGING.
After 3: Florida 148.625, Georgia 147.475
Problem there was that Draser did a solid 9.800 that they gave 9.900 so every other hit had to be higher.
Rotation 4
Georgia has now also added O’Driscoll into beam, so a very untested lineup here faced with a chance to get a huge road number.
Wahl – bb – georgia – bhs bhs loso, secure – full turn – side somi, lean forward – beat to split 3/4, big arm circle to keep it on – 1.5 dmt, small sideward step – stayed on. 9.700
Nguyen – fx – florida – front 2/1, sissones a crazy one out of it – big lunge fly – switch ring to switch 1/2, good – 1.5 to clean layout, good rise –
Tomlin – bb – georgia – switch to switch side, angled – bhs bhs loso, secure – 1.5 big bounce forward but solid debut, definite option. 9.850 is big
Judges trying to figure out how to give Nguyen a 9.9 even with that first pass.
9.500 with an ND for Nguyen, don’t think she actually went oob, just the extra mat made it look like it.
Pilgrim – fx- florida – 1.5 to 2/1, good control, leg crossing – front tuck to double tuck, bounce back 9.850
o’driscoll – bb – georgia – bhs bhs loso, holds with small lean – switch 1/2, little pause to beat – full turn, wobble – 1.5 dmt, knees, holds stick with lean. 9.850. Georgia also getting benefit of high beam but important hits
Clark – fx – florida – dlo, high, chest forward with rebound – split leap full to popa, around, good height – front to double tuck, bounce back. 9.900
Turner – bb- georgia – bhs bhs loso, feet, lean to the side – switch to split is solid – 1.5 dmt, some legs, good stick. 9.850
Blakely – fx – florida – ftdt, good control, some foot form in the air – switch 1/2 to split full, high, lower back leg on split full – 1.5 to front full, under control. 9.925
The way she says “sister family” sounds a little cultish.
Smith – bb- georgia – aerial to back tuck, smooth – switch, check before split jump to beat jump – kickover pike, wobble – gainer full, near stick, little adjustment. 9.850, sure
Wong – fx – florida – dlo, solid control – switch 1/2 to popa to popa, good completion – back 1/2 to front full, good rise, controlled landing. 9.925
Gleichowski – bb – georgia – bhs bhs loso, check – full turn, slight adjustment – switch to switch 1/2, secure, under split – 1.5 dmt, stuck. 9.950 with two checks
Inflated scores for Georgia there but an important hit rotation.
Harris – fx – florida – front tuck to double tuck, lands in cannonball shape but secure – switch side 1/2 to straddle – back 1.5 to 1/2 to double stag, solid. 9.900
FINAL: Florida 198.125, Georgia 196.825
Florida gets our first 198. A strong meet with the wildest scoring we’ve seen so far this season, esp on vault and beam.
On to Oklahoma/Alabama. Do the judges use that Florida scoring as a challenge?
Arkansas has started with Weaver holding onto a stick with an arm wave on her yfull.
Rotation 1
German – vt – bama – y1.5, very large lunge forward. 9.775
Pederson – ub – ou – good first hs – maloney to pak, clean high pak – dlo, step back
Bunagan – vt – bama – y1.5, short landing, two large steps back to avoid fall. 9.600 is high

After 1: Oklahoma 49.275, Alabama 49.075
Scores came for Oklahoma there at the end, but just a completely different scoring lens than we’re seeing at other meets. So much tighter than Florida so far. Watching these meets back to back should be a requirement for every judge to see the inconsistencies we’re talking about.
LSU will also be a little furious at their 49.375 hit bars to Arkansas’s 49.250 vault.
Rotation 2
Pederson – vt – ou – y1.5, good height, medium step forward. 9.875, softer than bars

Torrez – vt -ou – y1.5, nice stick, a bit of knees. 9.950

Feel like the bars scoring is looser for Alabama than for Oklahoma. OU coaches will love it.
Fatta – vt – ou – y1.5, pretty big hop forward, ok, 9.825
Hudson – ub – bama – maloney with leg separation into bail – ftdt, chest forward with hop. 9.775

Walker – ub – bama – pak, good height – maloney to gienger, solid – ftdt, slide back. 9.875
After 2: Oklahoma 98.575, Alabama 98.225
Vault not as tightly evaluated for Oklahoma there but also didn’t have a lot of great ones in the landing department for 49.300. Alabama 49.150 on bars that I thought was more forgiving than Oklahoma’s bars score.
KJ didn’t really commit to that interview. I wanted way more facial expressions about bars.
Rotation 3
LaCoursiere – bb – bama – good candle mount – split to stag ring is good – aerial, small lean but keeps moving to bhs – full turn – 1.5, a little low but good stick. 9.825

Ladanyi – bb – bama – aerial to split, solid – bhs loso, little teeter, soft form – gainer full, low but stuck. 9.825
Mueller – fx – ou – front tuck double tuck, some chest position – front lay to rudi, good rise in second element – solid straddle positions – 9.875

Wells – bb – ou – switch leg side aerial, hit, small lean – switch to switch, good – bhs loso, secure but adjusts after landing- 1.5 dmt step back. 9.800

FINAL: Oklahom a 197.550, Alabama 196.300
Big 49.575 on beam saves the meet score for Oklahoma, but not huge by their standards. Alabama went to pieces a bit on floor for 48.875, finishing with a 196.300 they won’t love.
LSU is already counting a 9.650 on beam so Arkansas on track for the upset there.
Over to Oregon State and Auburn, Hubbard vaults y1.5 for Auburn in the fourth spot with a bound forward.

Well, if Danie doesn’t vault and there’s no Ja’Free on bars, I need the rest of my lineup to kill it, please. I was one of the many tied for 44th place in last week’s Fantasy.
I also had Ja’Free on bars. Hoping the rest of the weekend goes better!
Anya and Naya leading off is a fun anagram matchup
I’m already annoyed by the commentary. “Just a slight hop forward” as the gymnast takes a huge step and brings her back foot forward.
I loved Webb as a gymnast, but she is annoying as a commentator.
I just muted her. I can’t. She’s so bad.
Why no Kara on beam?
Has she gone up yet at all this year? Love her gymnastics.
the Ark female commentator is not my fav. Every routine is “WOWWWWWWWW” and “I don’t see any deductions”
She probably went to Arkansas which is really more like 13th grade. It’s daycare for adults.
After JaFree Scott not competing for Georgia tonight, boy am I glad to have Jong and Neal in my lineups!!
