First things first, yesterday provided a major update to regionals qualification and the (previously) 12 teams that were still stranded in the land of fog and questions, aka the bubble.

Rutgers clinched one of the three open regionals spots, which eliminated almost everybody—Washington, Illinois State, Central Michigan, Iowa State, George Washington, Kent State, and Pitt are all out as the cutoff score has now been raised to 195.820.

Two regionals spots remain, and West Virginia, Towson, UC Davis, and Ball State still vying for them.

34. Rutgers – 195.890
35. West Virginia – 195.855 – maximum 196.015
36. Towson – 195.820 – maximum 195.980
————————————————————
37. Washington – 195.770
38. Illinois State – 195.710
39. Central Michigan – 195.665 – maximum 195.765
40. Iowa State – 195.660 – maximum 195.805
41. UC Davis – 195.645 – maximum 195.870
42. George Washington – 195.555 – maximum 195.795
43. Kent State – 195.510 – maximum 195.750
43. Pitt – 195.510 – maximum 195.800
45. Ball State – 195.455 – maximum 195.835

West Virginia clinches with 195.575, and Towson clinches with 195.875. To have any shot at all, Davis would have to go 196.050+, and Ball State would have to go 196.825+. Worth keeping an eye on as the day progresses.

We’ll start with the second session of Big Tens, where Penn State, Iowa, Maryland, and Illinois are all locked for regionals but still very much on the bubble with regard to the play-in meets. Yesterday’s “you get a 196.2! And you get a 196.2! And YOU get a 196.2!” score-scape would do most of them some good. Because what’s most important is that everyone feel the same.

Rotation 1 – Big Ten Session 2

Masella – VT – Iowa – yfull, nice stick, little leg separation at the end with small pike

Brown – UB – Illinois – tight first hs – clear hip to gienger to overshoot, leg sep on gienger and overshoot – short hs on hs – dlo, bounce back

Good split positions from Maul on beam for Penn State – finishes 1.5, low amplitude but finds the stick well. And 9.875

Volpe – VT – Iowa – yfull, bounce back, some knees, more distance than Masella. 9.725

Nice leg positions from Rech on floor for Maryland.

Leary – BB – Penn St – bhs bhs loso, small check – full turn – little Romanian choo choo-inspired choreo – hits sheep jump securely – 1.5 hop forward

Chambers – VT – Iowa – yfull, medium hop back, some pike

Ruffing – FX – Maryland – double tuck, solid landing – a little low – slightly out of control on leap series – 1.5 to half to double stag, also under control, knee position

McElligott grabs the beam on her series, big wobble, saved it, but the .3 beam grab

Tran – VT – Iowa – yfull, best open at the end of hers so far, bounce back

Salcedo – BB – Penn St – looked like she had her loso series but a quick move out of it ends up being kind of a big wobble, turn to side and lean – another lean forward at the hips on split 3/4 – stays on

Castillo – VT – Iowa – yfull, good pop, shows the height – bounce back

LeBlanc finished fx with a rudi, keeps that front foot under control

Green – UB – Illinois – maloney to pak, small leg breaks – 1/2 turn on low – hs on high is solid – dlo, finds the stick, solid one

Latronica – BB – Penn St – aerial to beat, smooth – Danilatronica, the only gymnast in NCAA whose name is also a music genre – bhs loso, solid – small waver on full turn – split to stag ring, shows solid ring closure – gainer full, hop back. Good one.

Muñoz – VT – Iowa – yfull, also solid height – small hop back, little lean forward to try to control it

Johnston – BB – Penn St – bhs loso, secure, some knees on loso – split to sheep with arm wave, not quite enough closure on sheep – hits side aerial – gainer full, holds stick well

Hearing about a lot of career highs so far in this first rotation……

Brendlinger – FX – Maryland – ftdt, a bounce back, some chest position – switch 1/2 to wolf fulls, a little indistinct in landing position in the middle – 1.5 to layout, crossover step –

Knight – UB – Illinois – toe on to maloney to bail, legs together well – dlo, solid amplitude, bounce back

Martin – FX – Maryland – ftdt, a little more control than Brendlinger, same chest position – switch 1/2 to wolf fulls, around – 1.5 to lay to stag, gets low in the layout but pulls it out under control

After 1: Maryland 49.175, Illinois 49.150, Penn State 49.075, Iowa 49.025. Continuing the theme from yesterday that everyone is pretty much the same. A good pace for all of them, but they’re also likely competing against each other to avoid those play-ins.

Rotation 2

juk – UB – Iowa – toe on to maloney to pak, small leg position on pak, solid on maloney – hits hs on high, kyle’s fist pump looks like he’s punching at her – giant full to double tuck, cowboy, hop back

Buckmon – VT – Maryland – yfull, finds the stick, pretty low but holds it with some chest position

Sapp – BB – Illinois – bhs loso, hit with lower landing position – side aerial-hit switch 1/2 with a wobble, split 1/2 is also short of split with another bigger break, leg up to horizontal – step back on dismount. Split of 9.2 to 9.65. Wheee!

Maul gets super deep on connected layout on final pass, pulls it out but lands in a squat

Vanney – UB – Iowa – maloney to pk, hit, leg separations – pretty big back arch in 1/2 turn on low – short hs on high – dlo, hit with hop back

Very large bounce back from Engelmayer on vault for Maryland

King – BB – Illinois – bhs loso, leg up wobble for a tenth – full turn, smooth – switch side, 1/4 on way down – hitch to switch side, secure – longer pause before dismount, pulls out stick on 1.5. 9.850 with a 9.7-9.9 split.

Murphy – VT – Maryland – yfull, also a big bounce back, lower with piking

Monahan deep on double tuck on floor for Penn State, so that won’t be a huge number either.

Masella – UB – Iowa – hits jaeger to overshoot with some soft body position, nice dlo and stick

Nataraj – BB – Illinois – triple series, good leg position there – switch to straddle 1/4, a little slow in combo but nice switch split shown – overturns full turn a little – 1.5, holds stick with lean

Rech – VT – Maryland – yfull, better control, medium hop back, nice dynamics – ends up with an extra step trying to hold her finish position.

Good DLO stick from Turner on bars for Iowa.

Cho – BB – Illinois – wolf single – bhs loso, smooth, good position – switch to switch 1/2 to beat, just a little under on switch 1/2 but normal/fine – side aerial under control – 1.5, hop forward.

Leary finishes fx for PSU with a comfortable 1.5 to layout

Muñoz – UB – Iowa – hits piked jaeger – pak, some leg separation and overarch – good stick save on dismount but did have an arm circle to do so

Kramer – FX – Penn St – front 2/1, good direction – split full to wolf fulls, gets it around, loses some position – rudi to a solid loso

Coppola hits beam for Illinois with a step back wobble on her connected round off – small step on dismount with arm circle

Tran – UB – Iowa – maloney to pak, lovely leg form – dlo, holds the landing, nice one. 9.950s from everyone.

Martin hits y1.5 for Maryland with step forward

Misiura – FX – Penn St – front 2/1, nice twisting position but lands under twisted with a crossover step – wolf double like she’s a recovering elite – switch side to wolf full, under on wolf position – front full to layout, good control

Knight finishes beam with stick on gainer full but leaned forward all the way to horizontal to hold it

After 2: Illinois 98.475, Iowa 98.300, Penn State 98.050, Maryland 98.000. They’re going to have to be loose with the 10s in session 3 if they’re to stay consistent…

Rotation 3

Monahan – VT – Penn St – tsuk tuck full, bounce back – tucks on the vault and some foot position

Gatzendorfer – UB – Maryland – toe on to maloney to pak, straddles – 1/2 turn on low bar is past – stalder to double tuck, bounce back

Volpe – BB – Iowa – bhs loso, secure, knee position – switch to straddle 1/4, just a little tight on straddle – aerial, solid, another knee moment – tuck 1.5 dmt, little hop

Vihrova – VT – Penn St – hs front pike, hop forward

Juk – BB – Iowa – bhs mount is strong – bhs bhs loso, holds it – switch to beat, quick choreo – kochetkova, hit well – gainer full gets a little wonky in legs, solid stick

Kaempfer – VT – Penn St – yfull, some pike, hop back, probably gets knocked for distance, but good height

Tyson – BB – Iowa – good full turn – bhs bhs loso, secure, just some feet – split to straddle 1/4, big lean forward, chest to horizontal – split to straddle 1/2, step back – 1.5, stuck

Kondo Maryland finishes bars with high DLO, small step back

Leary – VT – Penn St – yfull, bounce up in place,, also some pike at the end but a little bigger vault

Muñoz – BB – Iowa – switch to switch 1/2, good feet – bhs loso, really high, too high with a wobble – gainer full – another pretty big lean to try to hold it

So, are we not pronouncing Coppola like Francis Ford Coppola?

Nice completion on DLO 1/1 bars dismount from Merchant for Maryland, comfortable, finishes that twist really early, small hop

Tran – BB – Iowa – aerial, keeps moving to connect to bhs, good form – switch to switch 1/2 to beat, one of the better ones – gainer pike, hop forward

Salcedo – VT – Penn St – nice stick on her omelianchik – will get deducted for distance but nice vault

Kenlin – BB – Iowa – switch to split ring, needs a little more ring, but good split – bhs loso, huge break, step back, grabs the beam – cat leap to side aerial, secure –

Liv, beam grab is .3

Nock – FX – Illinois – nice open pike position but a bigger bounce back – front lay to rudi, tries to hold the stick but ends up with a little shuffle forward chest position moment

LeBlanc – UB – Maryland – blind to jaeger, hit, loses feet a little – bail, legs together – hits hs on high – DLO, lean forward to hold stick

Cho – FX – Illinois – ftdt, best landing position on that we’ve seen so far – front tuck through to double tuck, a little deep with a slide back – switch 1/2 to wolf full is around

After 3: Illinois 147.575, Iowa 147.525, Maryland 147.225, Penn St 146.900. Illinois heads to vault, which has been the “tightest” event so far—meaning, like, a deduction has been taken before—so an opening for Iowa. We should see at least a couple best Ohio State’s 196.250 from yesterday.

Rotation 4

Johnston opens bars for PSU with a nice double tuck stick.

Coppola – VT – Illinois – solid stick on yfull, some pike

Tran – FX – Iowa – rudi to loso smooth – front lay to front full is solid, just a bit low

Brendlinger finds herself suddenly on a frozen pond on her series, slips off beam in the leadoff – off again on kickover

Cho – VT – Illinois – nice yfull, another stick, good height

Vihrova with a close catch on her jaeger for penn state

“Chlo Cho Show” is Olivia Karas’s Waterloo.

Tyson – FX – Iowa – rudi to loso, under control – front 2/1, slide forward out of it – switch 1/2 to wolf full –

Hammer on beam for Maryland with a check on her series but stays on – kickover and falls, so Maryland will count that one – 9.150

Leary – Ub – Penn St – high jaeger to overshoot, solid – double tuck dismount is a little low, solid landing

Muller – VT – Illinois – yfull, lunge back, solid distance

Gallentine – UB – penn state – maloney to pak, little leg break – DLO, chest forward with a hop

Muñoz – FX – Iowa – double pike, little rebound – switch 1/2 to wolf fulls, a little low on switch 1/2 but rises in the wolfs – front tuck through to double tuck and falls

King – VT – Illinois – hits y1.5, a little stiff on landing but not too big on the hop

Latronica – UB – PennSt – piked jaeger, hit, close catch – good form on bail – toe on to toe front pike 1/2, hop back

Gatzendorfer takes her series right to the end of the beam with her back foot half off,but secure landing – wobble on split jump – gainer pike, hop forward

Castillo – FX – Iowa – wolf double – front tuck through to double pike, secure – switch side 1/2 to straddle – double tuck, chest up, good control

Ward – VT – Illinois – y1.5 is way short, falls

Martin – BB – Maryland – bhs loso, secure – cat to side aerial, holds it – hits switches – 1.5 dmt step back

Barbanente finishes the meet for Penn State with a DLO, solid height, hop

Brown replaces Joelson in the 6th spot for Illinois on vault – yfull – good stick, pretty significant tuck in the air but under control

Dean needs to clarify that he’s introducing these names with their season highs, not their scores right now. “Emily Erb with a 9.975” makes me think she just got that.

Erb – FX – Iowa St – double pike, big bounce back, steps OOB – back 1.5 to front full, good height.

9.750 for Erb will be enough to move into the lead.

Nice aerial position from Komoroski on beam to finish the meet for Maryland – shows toe point in her leap combo – check on full turn – 1.5, stuck.

FINAL: Iowa 196.775, Illinois 196.500, Penn St 196.050, Maryland 195.700

Big result for Iowa, jumping them into 21st in the current rankings, ahead of Ohio State, which will see them avoid the play ins. Penn State and Illinois on the margins of the play-in race, and Maryland will definitely have to do a play-in now.

Up next are the first sessions of ACCs and Big 12s. I’ll check in with some notes. And then in about an hour and a half we have the first session of SECs.

West Virginia has a bars miss from McDonnell in the 3 spot. Three big routines coming up now in that quest for 195.575.

A wild Pak swing through from Lowe, with tucking to avoid contact with the mat, will have to count now for 9.350. Tight moments.

Macy hits in the anchor spot to save the rotation, but West Virginia goes 48.125 on bars, which means they’ll need to average 49.150 on the remaining events to get to that 195.575. Doesn’t mean they’re out if they don’t get that goal score because they are in 35th, but it means they could theoretically be passed by Towson and Davis.

Clemson and Pitt about to get started in their pre-dual before the big session at ACCs. Better than 196.050 for Clemson would get them ahead of Penn State and Illinois, which could be play-in significant.

Taking a casual light year for these first rotation scores to come in at ACCs. A stuck ytucked 1.5 from Minner gets a 9.875 for Clemson. Madsø for Pitt gets real height on her toe pike 1/2 bars dismount and sticks for 9.850. Solid scores coming through for both.

The pace dwindles for Clemson at the end of vault, with Jackson landing short on her 1.5 with a lunge back, and Arnold falling in hers. 49.000 still works for the pace they’re looking for, though. Pitt will have the lead after 1, with a nicer bars rotation than a number of the teams that will make regionals.

Over at MACs, Ball State goes 48.250 on beam, making it nearly impossible to get to that 196.8 mark they would have needed to make a last-ditch push for regionals.

West Virginia is through the first five beams with five hits, so closer to back on track as long as floor delivers. Ends up on 48.975 on beam, so now need to average 49.238 on the last two events to clinch.

Bryant misses in the final spot on bars for Clemson, so they’ll stay on exact 196.000 pace after two as Pitt retains the lead.

Keeping an eye on all of this in the scores department, but we’re about ready for the first session of SECs, which will go a long way in telling us who the #3 seeds are at each regional.

Well, I turned on SECs and we’ve already had an “it’s harder to win SECs than a national championship” so…drink? You know, it’s harder to beat these teams than it is to beat these same teams plus Utah, UCLA, and Cal. That makes a lot of sense.

Ok we have to talk about the positioning of John, Aly, and Sam in this shot. It’s like John and Aly are the stage parents pushing Sam out there to sing “It’s a Hard Knock Life.”

West Virginia goes 49.100 on floor, which isn’t what they would have been looking for, putting pressure on vault to be a score.

Oh look, the athletes get a card table with three bananas on it. THE GLAMOROUS LIFE.

Rotation 1 – SEC Session 1

Bacskay – UB – Georgia – pak, legs together – van leeuwen, solid – giant full, a bit past, to double tuck, stuck. 9.875

Procasky with a hop back on yfull.

Ahern – BB – Auburn – bhs loso, hit, solid amplitude – switch 1/2, secure, angled out in hip position but fine – aerial – 1.5 dismount, holds stick with lean forward

Rybicki finishes floor with 1.5 to front full, solid landing, a bit low.

Rizo – VT – Kentucky – good height on yfull, small movement. 9.850

Berry – UB – Georgia – toe on to maloney to pak, smooth – late on 1/2 turn on low – solid hs on high – stalder to double tuck, little hop. 9.825

Greaves – BB – Auburn – hits wolf double – bhs loso, secure – switch to split is comfortable – side aerial, small adjustment – gainer pike dmt, some direction, a little close, hop back

Adams – FX – Alabama – good control on double pike – back 1.5 to layout, solid rise

Wilson VT – Kentucky – hs pike 1/2, small step back. 9.825

Snyder – UB – Georgia – very close on church, clips her foot and loses form – finishes giant full, past, into double tuck, slide back

Zancan on beam finishes with a high 1.5, hop forward

Magnelli – VT – Kentucky – handspring piuke 1/2, also a step back, bigger distance than Wilson

Solid control from Sears on front tuck through to double back final pass.

UMMM, so that’s just a typo right. But at this point you’re like…

Neal hits bhs loso loso on beam for Auburn – split jump, check – 1.5, good stick

Noonan – VT – Kentucky – ro 1/2 on pike 1/2 is hit, just a little movement and low chest position

Hudson – FX -0 Alabama – front lay to front 2/1, good position, slide forward – switch 1/2 to wolf full, around – 2.5, ways overcooks, lunge forward OOB

Groth finishes beam with a stuck gainer full.

Scott – UB – Georgia – high Ray to pak, some elbows on catch – van leeuwen, good leg position – DLO, nice stick

SKW hits a y1.5 to anchor for Kentucky, a little under though with two small hops back.

Gladieux – FX – Alabama – open ftdt, controls the step – split leap full to popa, around – rudi to split jump, controls it – good one

McLaughlin falls on beam in the anchor for Auburn.

Smith – UB – Georgia – toe on to maloney to bail, good leg positions – a little shy on hs on high – ftdt, how could we possibly see? Not like this is a championship or anything.

Walker – FX- Alabama – double pike, strong control – switch side to popa, maybe like a quarter under on rotation – back 1.5 to 1/2 to switch split jump

West Virginia does not get the numbers on vault and ends up on 194.875, so this thing is very much live for UC Davis to swoop in at the last second.

After 1:
Alabama 49.250
Georgia 49.200
Kentucky 49.125
Auburn 49.000

No one nailed that first rotation for a paradigm-shifting kind of score, but everyone was also able to drop their disasters.

The Snyder bars score was fixed…a little bit…but we still have a 0.70 range. Actually lots of big ranges here. Someone gave Shania Adams a 10 and it wasn’t even me. 9.800-10.000 range for her. And a 9.700-9.900 range for Neal’s beam.

Rotation 2

Paradise – VT – Alabama – y1.5, hit, medium hop forward, some knees

Rizo loses some ground on bars landing, with a step and not holding the finish.

Howard – BB – Georgia – bhs loso, secure – switch side and beat are solid as well – no trouble with side aerial – gainer full, stuck

Kvamme – VT – Alabama – y1.5, good height, lands a bit locked to try to get the stick, hops forward

Good jaeger from Riegert on bars – shy on final cast – giant full to double tuck, step. Kentucky doesn’t have the landings so far today.

Gleichowski – BB – Georgia – bhs bhs loso is solid – full turn – switch 1/2, a little under, into beat jump – 1.5 hop forward

Zancan gets bounced a little on her double tuck landing on floor.

German – VT – Alabama – y1.5, bigger bound forward and some knees

Procasky UB – Kentucky – maloney and misses, went really high but short of the bar

Turner – BB – Georgia – full turn, smooth – bhs loso loso, no trouble – switch to split, solid back leg position – 1.5, good stick

Bell – FX – Auburn – front 2/1 to front tuck, good height – switch 1/2 to wolf fulls, high, a little under on switch position – double pike, good chest position, slide back

Gladieux – VT – Alabama – y1.5, pretty solid, small hop forward

Davis – UB – Kentucky – jaeger hit, a tad close – bail hs, les together, maybe a little shy of hs – DLO, good position, step forward

Smith – BB – Georgia – gets bit by a snake on her switch split, with a pause before split, adds a beat jump – kickover, high, little lean – gainer full, stuck. I have 9.7 start here, which two of the four judges have.

Clemson comes through on floor to win the ACC first session with 196.175

Hudson – VT – Alabama – y1.5, good height, finds the stick. 9.925

Rodriguez – UB – Kentucky – tkatchev hit – clear hip to bail, legs together, solid vertical – hits hs on high – DLO, can’t hold the stick with a lean step back

Eaker – BB – Georgia – the switch mount gets her as well, big wobble, grabs the beam – and now a side aerial loso series and she’s off – Georgia will count Smith’s 9.6 now.

Bunagan – VT – Alabama – y1.5, good distance, step forward

SKW on bars, good height on piked jaeger, stuck DLO.

Groth – FX – Auburn – front 2/1, slide forward, keeps it in bounds – switch 1/2 to wolf full, around – back 1.5 to lay, secure landing, doesn’t really rise into the layout – rudi, also secure. Good, mostly some amplitude things.

Scott — BB – Georgia – wobble on full turn – fhs to bhs loso is landed securely – aerial to split to bhs is well done, good split – switch to split, another small adjustment – fhs front full dmt, hop forward

After 2:
Alabama 98.550
Auburn 98.350
Kentucky 98.250
Georgia 98.025

Georgia the first to blink with those errors on beam. Looks like floor is the place to get the scores today and beam is not. Beam is the place to get a crazy range where no one knows what a SV is.

Rotation 3

Gladieux – UB – Alabama – high jaeger to overshoot, small leg break – shy on hs on high – giant full to double tuck, good stick. 9.850

Rodriguez – BB – Kentucky – switch to split, hit – bhs bhs loso, secure, just some feet – solid extended side somi – 1.5 dmt, stuck

Zois – VT – Auburn – yfull, leg separation in the air, hop back

Hudson – UB – Alabama – toe on to maloney to bail, legs apart in maloney, brings together for bail – ftdt, good stick

Brose – BB – Kentucky – front tuck – kickover t bhs good leg position on bhs – switch to beat, smooth – full turn, overturns slightly – 1.5 dmt, step

King for Georgia OOB on front 2/1 to front tuck

Schumaker – VT – Auburn – ytucked 1.5, nearly finds the stick, a little low with a small step back

Walker – UB – Alabama – high pak – maloney to gienger, hit – solid hs on high – ftdt, step back

Lee – BB – Kentucky – bhs bhs loso, hit – switch, a little tight, to straddle 1/4 – 1.5, does well to hold the stick despite being a little back on her heels

Bacskay finishes floor with hit 2.5 to front tuck.

Hubbard – VT – Auburn – y1.5, comes in way short and sits it down, counting three 9.7s now.

Lacoursiere UB – Alabama – maloney to pak, good legs together – van leeuwen – just a bit rushed on hs – FTDT is actively hilarious as she leans forward and almost touches her nose to the mat to try to hold it, then steps

Bennett for kentucky basically gainers her last loso to keep it on the beam

Wahl – FX – Georgia – FTDT is shy, chest down step forward — finishes front tuck to double tuck

Zancan – VT – Auburn – hs on, hs front pike, nails it again, good stick

Fuller – UB – Alabama – good pak – toe on van leeuwen, solid – hits hs on high – DLO, good stick, a little close

SKW – BB – Kentucky – aerial, good front leg, to bhs loso, leg up wobble – side aerial to 1.5 hop forward

Aquino FX Georgia – front tuck through to double tuck, huge bounce back and OOB – good completion on her wolf 1.5 – now double pike is short, chest down, lunge

Bell – VT – Auburn – yfull is hit, bounce up, knees

Adams – UB – Alabama – toe on to maloney to bail, arches, pulls it back – giant full to double tuck, high, slide back

Magnelli – BB – Kentucky – bhs loso loso, right on – switch to straddle 1/4, good height, secure – aerial – full turn, nice – gainer pike, stuck, best routine of the day. 9.900

Smith – FX – Georgia – good front 2/1 – back 1.5 to front lay, a little under, covers, but a small slide back – rudi to straddle jump. 9.925

After 3:
Alabama 147.825
Kentucky 147.350
Auburn 147.275
Georgia 146.950

Alabama running away with it at this point, but still has to beam.

We have an overlap rotation coming up, as the final session of Big Tens is getting started. Couldn’t they have coordinated a little better?

Rotation 4

Boyd – UB – Auburn – maloney to pak, little legs on maloney, solid pak – stalder to double tuck, stagger landing, hit

Lacoursiere – BB – Alabama – candle mount hit – split to stag ring secure – aerial to bhs – full turn, just slightly tentative – 1.5 dmt, little hop

Procasky finishes floor with a controlled step on double tuck

King – VT – Georgia – hits her 1.5 but it gets a little weird, lunge forward, some leg separation and direction

Leonard – UB – Auburn – high tkatchev – shorter hs – bail, legs together cleanly – DLO , some piking, good stick

Rybicki – BB – Alabama – bhs loso, check, some foot flexing – switch 1/2, secure – full turn, hesitation – straddle 3/4, hit – punch front full, stuck

Bacskay – VT – Georgia – y1.5, solid control, little hop forward, some knee position early

Bartman – Ub – Auburn – good feet on jaeger – pak, high, small leg break – short hs on high – double front, some cowboy, step back

Ladanyi – BB – Alabama – aerial to split, good – bhs loso, secure, knee – switch to split – stuck dmt

over at Big Tens, UCLA gets a near stick from Webster-Longin on vault, lean to the side

Rodriguez on floor for Kentucky has a shorter landing on her double back.

Aquino – VT – Georgia – good stick on tsuk full, little bit of direction and chest position

Groth falls on tkatchev on bars.

It was clear at Big Tens after the first two sessions that they would have to throw out big numbers now to stay consistent, and we’re seeing that.

SKW – FX – kentucky – solid control on front 2/1 – switch to switch ring 1/2, not too bad – back 1.5 to front lay, under control but lower amplitude on lay

Irvine – UB – Auburn – hits piked jaeger to overshoot – FTDT, step back

Gladieux – BB – Alabama – hits bhs lay pike – aerial, wobble, improvises a scale – switch to split – solid 2/1

brose – FX – Kentucky – double pike, lovely form – split full to wolf full – 1.5 to front lay, good 1.5,, also a little lower on layout – “immense groin strength” – front 2/1, well done, good control

A Smith – VT – Georgia – y1.5, medium hop forward

Chiles DTYs again for UCLA – chest forward with step, some leg crossing

Greaves – UB – Auburn – Church is close into paj – van leeuwen, short and falls – Auburn counting bars fall now

Adams finishes beam for Alabama with stuck gainer full to seal the session win.

Auburn and Georgia will tie on 195.950.

Davis – FX – Kentucky – good high double pike, bounce back – double tuck, very good landing, chest up

And we have a 10 alert. Gabi Stephen on beam for MSU as they go 49.500. Three went 10 and one went 9.900

Davis gets a 10 from one judge, 9.900 in all.

FINAL:
Alabama 197.100
Kentucky 196.775
Georgia 195.950
Auburn 195.950

Alabama is the only one that will count this score for NQS, moving to 197.205, ahead of Oregon State for 11th, still behind Georgia.

After one rotation at Big Tens, MSU leads with that beam 49.500, everyone over 49.3 in the first rotation.

Elsewhere, Towson went 49.250 in the first rotation, which is good for their clinching pace.

Rotation 2 – Big 10s Session 3

Campbell – UB – UCLA – good first hs – maloney to bail – blind to double front, cowboy, good stick’

Pearl – VT – Minnesota – yfull, bounce back. 9.775

Parenti – BB – Michigan – full turn, hit – bhs loso, under control – switch to split, solid positions – aerial to split, comfortable – 1.5 dmt a little under, step back

Steensland – VT – Minnesota – yfull, lands a bit shy, chest forward with hop, leg sep on table

Webser-Longin with a nice 1/2 turn finish position on low on bars – chest down dmt with a hop – 9.900 shouldn’t have been as high as Campbell’s

Tucker – FX – MSU – rudi to loso, hit – double turn to switch 1/2 to straddle, like it – front 2/1, slide forward

Malabuyo – UB – UCLA – maloney to pak, clean, very very tiny leg break – toe on ftdt, hop forward

Boozer – BB – Michigan – cat leap to aerial, good position – switch to switch split jump, excellent back leg position – bhs loso, large break, leg up and turn to the side – gainer full, step back

McGowan – UB – UCLA – clear hip to tktchev to overshoot – they fixed that overshoot from earlier in the season – dlo, tiniest rebound in place

ALL UCLA BARS ARE 9.900

Crump VT – Minnesota – hits y1.5 with lunge forward

Stephen – FX – MSU – front tuck through to rudi, controls ther step – switch 1/2 to wolf full, around well – loso to knee – and we’re having some…camera problems but Ranger hit her double back dismount on beam in two different screens

Esparza – UB – UCLA – maloney to bhardwaj, nice – van leeuwen, legs together – DLO, little slide back. 9.950, just took for the dismount, had to go higher since her form is the best of the lineup.

Smith – FX – MSU – ftdt, some shin separation, good control – switch 1/2ish to straddle jump – front tuck through to double tuck

Hooten – VT – Minnesota – y1.5, step forward

Chiles – UB – UCLA – piked tatchev to pak is good – hits hs on high – DLO, shorter with hop forward, so minimum tenth there. 9.900.

Bauman – BB – Michigan – bhs loso, solid split jump to straddle 1/2 to sissone, clean – side somi, good – gainer pike, holds stick with little lean. One judge still goes 10.

Good chest position and control on double tuck from Schulte. And 9.975.

After 2
MSU 99.100
UCLA 98.900
Michigan 98.650
Minnesota 98.575

How this for a collector’s item comment: This scoring in Michigan is a lot looser than the SEC scoring. And I assume that will be true for exactly two more hours.

Rotation 3

Tucker – VT – MSU – solid y1.5, little bounce, some knee. 9.900

Lee – BB – UCLA – aerial to split jump, comfortable – bhs loso, arm wave wobble – switch to straddle, good – gainer full, chest forward lean. 9.825, which is like almost what she gets for a good one.

Parenti – FX – Michigan – double pike, under control, some chest position

Doyle – VT – MSU – y1.5, medium hop forward.9.850

Rosen – BB – UCLA – switch to split, some lower back leg – onodi, little arm wave cover – bhs loso, secure, some knee position – 1.5, good stick. And she got a 10 from one judge, which is something.

Zsarmani – VT – MSU – y1.5, very good stick. 9.975 for her.

Davis finishes on FX for Michigan with double pike, under control

Chiles – BB – UCLA – bhs loso is good – cat lep to switch side, solid horizontal shown – side aerial, smooth – 2/1 dmt, hop back. Good one on the beam itself.

Smith – VT – MSU – medium hop forward on her 1.5

Diaz – FX – Michigan – front 2/1 with a slide out dance cover – rudi to loso under control

Campbell – BB – UCLA – bhs lay pike, secure – split leap to switch 1/2, a little under split – good full turn – gainer full, stuck.

Ava Stewart is dismounting bars with a toe pike 1/2 now. Step back but a solid decision, because that double front that still started a little piked wasn’t really working. That step is all they take for a 9.900.

Stephen – VT – MSU – y1.5, shorter today with a step back

Sanger – FX – Michigan – double pike, under control, chest down – a bit under on wolf position –

Alipio – BB – UCLA – full turn – bhs bhs loso, clean – side aerial, nicely done – switch work is good – gainer tuck full, holds the stick with some direction and foot position. And it’s a 10 for Alipio. I mean, better than the 9.950s they were throwing out for bigger deductions. Usually they take for deviation from straight direction on dismount, and there’s some body position today.

Kellerman – VT – MSU – handspring pike 1/2, bounce back

Malabuyo – BB – UCLA – wolf – bhs loso, nice – aerial to beat – split to split ring jump – bhs gainer full, stuck. I feel like that was the strongest one but 9.950 for Malabuyo.

Lyden – Ub – Minnesota – toe to maloney to bail, legs together well – DLO, good stick.

Ranger – FX – Michigan – dlo, high under control, some chest position – switch 1/2 to popa, around – front loso to double tuck, nice stick. 9.950.

Every anchor goes 9.950 in that rotation, three of the four teams over 49.500, with UCLA on 49.750 for like a real-life 49.5 rotation.

After 3:
MSU 148.675
UCLA 148.650
Michigan 148.200
Minnesota 147.900

So…it’s all happening.

Rotation 4

Doyle – ub – MSU – piked jaeger, just a tad close – high pak – hits hs on high – giant full to double tuck, step back

Rosen – FX – UCLA – double tuck, under control, good chest position – double pike, also solid, mostly controls the step stays in – switch ring to switch 1/2 to wolf full, a little under rotated – back 1.5 to lay, lower amplitude. 9.875

Stephen – UB – MSU – toe on to maloney to bail, legs together – ftdt, leans forward to horizontal to try to hold the landing – a theme of the day

Stewart – BB – Minn – check on her split ring jump, good split work – aerial to korbut – gainer full, good stick

McGowan – FX – UCLA – ftdt, bounce back, looks like she just stayed in bounds – switch side to popa, high, overturns switch side slightly – back 1.5 to front full, shows control

Zsarmani – UB – MSU – maloney to pak, nice, very smll leg separation – loss of rhythm and some position in that 1/2 turn on low – DLO, step back

Malabuyo – FX – UCLA – double pike, good control – switch ring to switch 1/2 to wolf full, good – wolf double, around – 1.5 to layout, good – that was her best of the year for me,

Ranger hits y1.5 for Michigan, step forward, leg break on block

Rowray – BB – Minnesota – bhs loso with leg up wobble because we cn’t have nice things – kickover to wolf is excellent – front gainer full, step back

Smith – UB – MSU – maloney to pak, legs together – good 1/2 turn position on low – DLO, hop up in place

Mulligan VT – Michigan y1.5, step forward and some knees

Campbell – FX – UCLA – ftdt, little shin separation, good control – split leap full to popa, around – front lay to front full – double tuck, chest up, good control, so probably another 9.950. And it is. One judge goes 10.

Harkness – UB – MSU – toe on to high gienger, very nice – bail, legs together solidly – DLO, bounce back.

Moors – FX – UCLA – front 2/1 to front tuck, good – loso side pass – switch to switch 1/2 to wolf full, around – rudi, solid

And we have the 10 for Moors. The meet was set up for it, and it was superior to the last two 9.950s. The same routine she has done all year. But in today’s wild high score-scape, it’s not the least deserving 10 you’ll see.

Kellerman finishes wth a strong DLO stick.

Chiles – FX – DLO, good control – split leap full to wolf full, around – fron ttuck to double tuck, controls it.

And we have another 10. And another 49.800 floor for UCLA. I think this one was a little better than the 49.8 earlier in the year. They went too high on the McGowan routine, which shot everything else up, so then we were stuck in 10 land. But if you were going to score the whole meet in the drug clouds like this for all the teams, you kind of had to give UCLA a million on floor.

FINAL:
UCLA 198.450
Michigan State 198.150
Minnesota 197.425
Michigan 197.325

So, it’s a season high for all four teams (shocked!). The big NQS development here is for Minnesota, which jumps up to 10th, ahead of Georgia, Alabama etc.

Towson counted a miss on bars, which puts them in some danger of not getting the score they needed now. Davis is over 196 pace through two events. Davis needs 196.250 now to go ahead of West Virginia.

And now we get the second sessions of ACCs and Big 12s.

Wiley starts for Cal on vault with hop forward on y1.5. 9.850.

Zirbes also opens for Utah with 9.850. Casali with a bounce on her DLO bars dismount and 9.725.

And Gutierrez starts with a leadoff 9.950 on bars for Stanford. This is feeling a little Big Teny.

Robinson – UB – Stanford hits jaeger – pak, good, small leg separation – hits hs on high – FTDT, step back. 9.875

Mayhew nearly sticks Y1.5 for Cal but then steps back. 9.850

Brown – VT – Cal – y1.5, solid, little hop forward. 9.900

Neff vaults third for Utah, high y1.5, bigger lunge forward. 9.825

Neault – UB – Stanford – maloney to pak, smooth – good 1/2 turn on low – toe full, past vertical, into double tuck, holds onto stick with arm correction

Rorich UB – Denver – high jaeger – bail, legs together, gets to vertical in the end – dlo, little hop back

Bound forward for Glynn on vault for Utah but gets 9.900, Frazier with a larger bounce back on DTY today, but gets the 9.850 she usually gets for good ones.

Knower – BB – UNC – bhs loso, secure, good amplitude – switch to split jump 1/2, under – kickover to beat, holds onto it – 1.5, larger bound forward

Zultevicz – FX – NC State – 2.5 to front tuck, gets it to her feet but a lower front tuck – split leap full to wolf full, under position on the split – double tuck, high, controlled landing, chest down

Roberts – UB – Stanford – pak, good – toe on to van leeuwen, clean – hits hs on high – DLO, nice stick. 9.925

Lauzon finishes vault for Cal – short on y1.5 with bounce back

Soma – UB – Stanford – good first hs – maloney to pak, good amplitude – van leeuwen, small leg break – hits hs on high well – DLO, just a little close to the bar, holds the stick with a little compression.

And we have a 10 for Soma. Dismount a little close for me. Stanford goes 49.650 on bars, so this is where we are.

Negrete – FX – NC State – double pike, bounce back, keeps it in bounds – switch 1/2 to split jump full – double tuck, chest forward and a hop.

SEC Session 2 has some serious judging reputation to uphold tonight given what we’re seeing elsewhere.

Towson’s 195.675 is NOT enough to pass West Virginia, so West Virginia is in. Now it’s between Davis and Towson. Now Davis needs 196.150.

Davis goes 49.300 on floor, so is a hit vault away from making it now, but opens that rotation with a miss.

A 9.900 from Megan Ray in the 5th spot for Davis on vault means they just need a hit from the last vaulter to get in.

And they get it! Keanne Abraham goes 9.800 and Davis finishes on 196.400, which will jump them to 35th, West Virginia goes to 36th, and Towson is out in 37th.

Back at ACCs, Lauzon matches Stanford bars start with 9.950, including a 10 from one judge. Makenna Smith only starts Utah’s bars with 9.925. WHY SO LOW.

Landry – BB – Stanford – hits bhs loso little teeter – secure landing on split ring jump – gainer pike, nice stick. 9.900

Lehman – VT – NC State – y1/2, medium hop forward and some knees, solid

Carter – BB – Stanford – full turn, over turns slightly – bhs bhs loso, holds onto it, chest a bit forward – straddle 1/2 to straddle, tightish in split but secure – gainr front full, close to the beam, stuck

Newman-Achee with her best bars of the season for Cal, sticks. A third-straight 9.950. A going too high too early cautionary tale. Now every routine is perfect and the same.

Neff for Utah with a step back on her DLO 1/1 on bars for 9.850.

Cesario was like WHAT IF I GOT A 10 and went over on a handstand. 9.3 to 9.7 range is fun.

Roberts – BB – Stanford – hits wolf – switch to split, just a little tight but solid – bhs loso, nicer control – side aerial, keeps arms moving very overtly to split jump – gainer full, holds onto stick

Williams – UB – Cal – hits first hs – clean pak – toe on to van leeuwen, legs together – good hs on high – DLO, little slide back. And it’s a 9.950, you know, the score

Zirbes 5th on bars for Utah, good firt hs – lovely feet on jaeger, fingertips it, connects to overshoot – ftdt, hop back

Neault a little short on beam dismount with a slide back

Knight finishes vault for NC State with good hs pike 1/2, high amplitude, bounce back

Big break for Robinson on her beam series , bend at the hips

Brown hits bars for Cal, but two big arm circles on her dismount with a step back.

McCallum can’t pull out the bars dismount today, chest down on ftdt with hop forward

Would be really proud of the SEC if they were just like, actually here’s a 9.750, suddenly.

Gymnastics bumping softball on the SECN. Ha ha, we win.

John has already used the word doozy. So tonight’s going to be a doozy.

Big wobble for Cesario to start Cal’s beam rotation. Dean on floor for Stanford controls her back 1.5 to front full.

Sprouts, that sad table of chips and bananas is not the ad you think it is.

Rotation 1 – SEC Session 2

Pederson – VT – OU – y1.5, step forward, closer to the table

Zeiss – UB – LSU – finishes bars with ftdt, hop back

Mueller – BB – Missouri – full turn nice – beat to split 3/4, large break, leg up and arm wave

Nguyen – FX – Florida – front 2/1, bit of leg crossing, nice sissone – switch ring to switch 1/2, good – back 1.5 to lay, under control

Torrez – VT – OU – y1.5, medium hop forward

Cowan – UB – LSU – ray is hit, into overshoot – DLO, holds stick, little lean

Disidore – FX – Florida – rudi is short to an arm wavy “eek a spider!” stag jump like Seda falling on beam that time – back 1.5 to front lay, good into the air, lunge

Wells – VT – OU – y1.5, hop forward, smaller than the last couple

Chio – UB – LSU – good first hs – maloney to bail, leg seoaration on maloney – hits hs on high – blund to khorkina, hit – solid hs – ftdt, stuck

Celestine – BB – Missouri – bhs, slow into side aerial but keeps moving, wobble, turn to the side –

Clark – FX – Florida – DLO, high, tries to show front foot control, leans a little – split leap full to popa, good lift – front tuck through to double tuck, keeps the front foot down

Fatta – VT – OU – Y1.5, step forward

Finnegan – UB – LSU – piked deltchev, good – toe on to bail, nice foot position – a little shy on hb handstand – FTDT, holds stick with lean. Another 9.950. I had a couple things in that one.

Wong – FX – Florida – DLO, under control, pikes down at the end – switch 1/2 to popa to popa, around well – 1/2 to front full is solid –

Mueller – VT – OU – Y1.5, finds the stick – a little stagger and some knee, nice. 9.950

McClain – Ub – LSU – church, a little close to pak, good pak form – hits hs on high – FTDT, step back. So they only took for the step, not the catch on church

Harris – FX – Florida – front tyck throgh to double tuck, good control, chest down – 1.5 toi 1/2, hit, low amplitude on 1/2

Bowers – VT – OU – large lunge forward on y1.5

Braynt hits jaeger on bars – bail, legs together – double front 1/2, chest down, step forward.

Hu smooth on aerial to aerial – split jump to split jump 3/4, arms it around a little – gainer pike, a little direction, stuck. Not her very best but quite nice.

Ferris – FX – Florida – FTDT, hit, under control, some feet and chest position – switch side 1/4 to popa, overturns the switch side some – back 1.5 to front lay, low lay with some leg bending and separation

After 1:
LSU 49.600
Oklahoma 49.425
Florida 49.375
Missouri 49.125

LSU wins the landing race in the first rotation of the landing championships.

Bella Mabanta with a lovely open on her yfull for Denver, as Utah runs away with that one. Close between Cal and Stanford for ACCs, Stanford winning but Cal finishing on floor.

But also if I’m Cal I really want to get passed in the rankings by Missouri because I think #7 is going to an easier regional than #6 at this point.

Rotation 2

Ooooh Sievers struggles on bars to start, gets caught in a cast hs, has to lower and recast. 9.800 somehow

Ballard – BB – LSU – bhs loso, secure – full turn – sissone to switch 1/2, under split on the sissone – kickover, holds it – 2/1 some leg crossing, stuck

Nguyen – VT – Florida – y1.5, medium hop forward

Pederson – UB – OU – maloney to pak, smooth – hits 1/2 turn on low – solid hs on high – DLO, stuck. Good one. 9.950 and one goes 10.

Coen – BB – LSU – aerial to beat, secure, bent knee in aerial – bhs loso, hit, chest down – switch to split, getting better on that back leg but still shorter – 2/1 stuck

Horton with a big FTDT on floor for Missouri, bounce back – finishes front through to double tuck, love the kick out, under control –

Ferris – VT – Florida – Y 1.5 with a lunge forward

Fatta – UB – OU – church to pak, hit solidly – 1/2 turn on low, hits vertical but of body position – bit short on high bar hs – DLO, slide back. 9.925 pretty high for me.

Chio – BB – LSU – bhs mount, nice – bhs loso , controlled – switch to split, good – aerial to split, also smooth – 1.5 dismount, lean forward and then a hop

Bui – VT – Florida – solid Y1.5, good distance, not the very highest, small hop forward, good straight body position

Torrez – UB – OU – ray is high, a but of elbows – toie to pak, takes it tooooo big – can’t cast up, has to recast to get her 1/2 turn on low, past, dlo hop back.

This is two misses on bars for Oklahoma, it’s just not going to show up in the scores that much.

McClain – BB – LSU – swith to switch 1/2 to split jump is strong,, good split on switch 1/2, mayyyybe some feet but it’s so much better than the others – aerial to bhs, hit – wolf, gainer full, holds with little lean

Celestine nice completion on dance elements on floor -finishes front tuck through to double tuck, chest up, good control, some foot position,

Wong with a medium hop back on vault. 9.875

Aly’s like DO A DLO 1/1,

Davis – UB – OU – piked jaeger, hit – pak, legs together – 1/2 turn on low, finishes well – hggins to double front 1/2, stuck, probably her best in the leg stagger on bars department. 9.975.

Bryant finishes beam with small movement on her rudi dismount.

Griffin – FX – Missouri – double pike, nice –

harris – VT – Florida – y1.5, not her biggest block but finds the stick well, one of her best. And we have a 10.

Finnegan – BB 0 LSU – bhs loso loso, solid landing – aerial, smooth – good stick on gainer full. 9.925

Bowers takes a step back on bars dismount.

Moore – FX – Missouri – DLO, good control, some chest position – switch 1/2 to popa, good height – front tuck trough to double tuck, chest up, niclely done.

10 alert – Lali Dekanoidze for UNC.

An OOB from Frazier for Cal means Stanford will upset to win the ACC Champs.

Missouri goes 49.600 on floor to lead that rotation.

After 2:
LSU 99.050
Oklahoma 98.975
Florida 98.875
Missouri 98.725

So…I guess everyone is in it? Not disappointing in the cuckoo department. Interested to see what happens to OU on beam because both OU and LSU got loosey goosey bars, and LSU got a more “watching the routines” beam. The way bars is going, we could see Florida jump up in rotation 3 as well.

Rotation 3

Pilgrim on bars, good pak, slightly labored on hs – van leeuwen, hit – FTDT, small movement and a lean. 9.900

Davis – BB – OU – bs loso, secure – good aerial – 2/1 dismount, bit of leg crossing, basically hold the stick but kind of teetered forward trying to hold the finish position.

Coen with a slide forward on front 2/1 –

“Judges won’t devalue but they will take off half a tenth” – Aly summarizing the problems with college judging in the sweetest voice possible.

Blakely – Ub – Florida – ricna to pak, a little over the bar on pakj but fine – shy hs on high – double front 1/2 out, probably stuck, close to the bar. And it’s 9.950 for Blakely.

Fatta – BB – OU – bhs loso, solid control – side aerial, comfortable – hitch kick to switch side, a little angle in split – switch to split – gainer full, stuck

Ballard very deep in the knees on her DLO on floor

Tisler – VT – Missouri – comes in deep on her yfull, tries to sell it but short with a hop forward

Wong – UB – Florida – maloney to pak, nice – hits hs on low – van leeuwen – legs together – DLO, stuck.

And we have a 10 for Wong. They’ve been ready to giver a 10 all day and now they go their stick.

Pederson sticks her 2/1 dismount on beam for Oklahoma.

FTDT for Chio on floor, controls it – chest forward – switch ring to split leap full, around – 2.5 to front tuck, controlled step, some leg crossing –

Horton with a big bound forward on y1.5 landing

Harris – UB – Florida – Ray, hit – bail, legs together – solid hs on high – DLO, piking, good stick. 9.950. One gets carried away and goes 10, but the dismount form can’t.

Bowers – BB – Oklahoma – bhs loso, secure – switch to switch 1/2, very nice – 2/1, hop back.

Drayton – FX – LSU – DLO, good control – switch ring to swithch 1/2 is excellent – front tyck through to double tuck, solid.

Arana – UB – Florida – toe on to maloney to pak, smooth – a bit shy on hs on high – DLO, good stick, just a bit of position at the end. And a 9.950 for Arana.

Siegfeldt falls for OU on her loso series. Oklahoma is not really Oklahomaing today. 9.4 with a fall.

Finnegan – FX – LSU – double arabian to stag, nice double arabian – switch ring to split full, around – 2.5 to front tuck, got a little low on the front tuck today but got it around. 9.900

Celestine – VT – Missouri – y1.5, medium hop forward.

McCusker – UB – zflorida – maloney to pak good – van leeuwen, legs together well – stalder to double tuck, sticks it. Oh, Riley’s here.

And we have a 10 for McCusker. Florida goes 49.850 on bars, and I might quit. Definitely room on these 9.950s especially to have taken more for body position and separate and not just act like everything is the same and perfect.

So that’s a Florida bars record. Also an everyone record.

Merely a 9.950 for Bryant on floor for a lowly 49.625 for LSU.

After 3:
Florida 148.725
LSU 148.675
Oklahoma 148.450
Missouri 147.825

Weeeeeellllllll.

Rotation 4

Johnson – VT – FTY, good, little hop back. 9.875

Draser – BB – Florida – bhs loso, secure, bent back knee – switch to switch 1/2, loses her foot position on switch 1/2 – 1.5 dismount, stuck. 9.850

Davis – FX – OU – front 2/1, a little under rotated with a crossover step – back 1.5 to front full –

Zeiss – VT – LSU – Y1.5, step forward, small amount of knees. Still goes 9.900, was more 9.850 for me

Pilgrim – BB – Florida – bhs loso with a check, turn to the side correction – cat leap, a little low, into aerial, arm but fine – switch to split leap – gainer full, stuck. 9.800

Sievers – FX – OU – double pike, little rebound – short double tuck with a hop forward

Finnegan – VT – LSU – y1.5, little hop forward. 9.900

Florida running into the one event where they weren’t necessarily sniffing all the SEC juice here in the last rotation.

Nguyen – BB – Florida – onodi to bhs, nice – switch to split jump, good back leg position – bhs 1.5 dmt, hop forward

Drayton – VT – LSU – y1.5, bigger bound forward and another small hop. Still gets 9.800 but that will be a drop.

Mueller with some chest forward on her first pass

Wong – BB – Florida – switch, misses her combo, does a little steppy walk – aerial to split to straddle – bhs loso, smooth – switch ring – gainer tuck full is stuck.

Kelly with a high Church on bars for Missouri, catches with some elbows

Chio – VT – LSU – y1.5, good layout, hop forward; 9;900

Fatta – FX – OU – front 2/1, pulls it out, lower than her usual, does the stag – front tuck through to 2/1 instead of her 2.5 and then does a little 1/2 turn after landing – so that was strange – switch side to popa is hit –

Celestine – UB – Missouri – toe on to maloney to pak, some overarch there – van leeuwen, hit – stalder pike 1/2, holds onto stick

9.675 for Wong with a 9.8 start, did not have a dance combination with a minimum C element

Harris – BB – Florida – bhs loso bhs is secure – switch to straddle 1/4 –

Fatta gets a 9.800 on floor somehow.

Bowers front 2/1 to front tuck, nice – double pike, kind of rebounds back but keeps that front foot down. 9.950, one judge goes 10.

Bryant – VT – LSU – handspring pike 1/2, shuffle back. 9.950.

LSU will win with 198.200

And we have another 10, bars for Titarsolej.

Arana – BB – Florida – bhs loso, some knee – aerial, good front leg, lean to the side – switch to switch 1/2, short of split – gainer full, holds onto landing.

Torrez – FX – OU – DLO, chest up well – split leap full to wolf full, around well – fron ttuck to double tuck, under control, chest a little low. And so obviously it’s a 10 for Torrez.

SEC is like “no, we’re the SEC” and goes with five 10s today.

FINAL:
LSU 198.200
Oklahoma 197.925
Florida 197.825
Missouri 197.400

LSU the most complete four-apparatus performance of the teams today. Florida had some big highs but also some only OK rotations, and Oklahoma had a few too many errors, not all of which showed up in the scores, but contributed to the overall sense of not being a categorical winning performance for them.

LSU will take over the #1 ranking heading to elimination season.

My tentative math has our regionals as

LSU, Michigan State, Kentucky, Arkansas (@ Penn St)
Oklahoma, Missouri, Georgia, Auburn (@ Washington)
Florida, Cal, Alabama, Oregon State (@ Alabama)
Utah, UCLA, Minnesota, Stanford (@ Utah)

Georgia and Minnesota tie in 10th but I have Georgia on the tiebreak (next best score not used for NQS)
