About
A golden goose of floor composition, the triple Y turn was sought after for a number of years, but Aliya Mustafina proved the first one to actually get it around at an eligible competition when she performed it in qualification at the 2014 World Championship in Nanning. It is one of the three most difficult turns in women’s gymnastics, joining the Gomez and Mitchell on E (0.5) value.

Most gymnasts don’t try this. Because they can’t do it. But those who can…probably still won’t. They’ll opt to try the double Y turn for 0.4 connected into a B turn for a bonus tenth, which adds up to the same 0.5 value and is a more trustworthy composition choice than a triple turn that you may or may not (leaning toward not) get around.

Because gymnastics is a comedy, not a drama
