A couple big ones on the schedule to round out the weekend. We have the Michigan/Michigan State clash, which is the most real it has ever been in gymnastics this year given the rise of Michigan State, and then in a staggered start we have the regular season’s lone meet on Big ESPN between Utah and Oklahoma. Michigan, Oklahoma, and Utah are all in contention for the #1 ranking today with Michigan and Oklahoma currently tied at the top after Florida’s lower score on Friday.

Rotation 1

Garcia – VT – MSU – nearly finds the stick on her Yfull, started out with good layout, pikes down to try to find it and ends up with a step back and chest down. 9.775

Heiskell – UB – Mich – good first hs – blind, slightly crooked when arriving in hs – jaeger nice – pak, high, legs together – good cast hs on high – giant full, solid finish position, double tuck, good. 9.875

Schulte – VT – MSU – nice stick on her yfull, clean in the air, just a bit forward coming in. 9.900. We’re flying early.

Koulos – UB – Mich – short first hs – blind to jaeger, nice – better second hs – bail, pikes a little in the air but comes in to a good vertical – short on final cast hs – DLO, hit, legs apart, small movement. 9.800

Zsarmani – VT – MSU – hits her yfull but has a shuffle back, two distinct small steps. 9.825 is high.

Morrison – UB – Michigan – instead of Bauman in the lineup today – good frist hs – gienger, nice height, loses her legs a bit at the end – clear hip – bail, some hip angle in catch there – finishes DLO, nice form but shorter landing, hop forward. 9.825

Kellerman – VT – MSU – handspring pike 1/2, comes in with a strong stick. Will have some deductions for being really close to the table and somewhat deep. 9.850

Wilson – UB – Michigan – solid first hs – blind to piked jaeger, secure – a bit of angle in hs on high – legs together on bail, some angle in most of her verticals here – DLO, hop forward. 9.775

Nikki Smith – VT – MSU – sticks her y1.5 – very good, just a bit of knees and direction. Nice. 9.950

Brooks – UB – Michigan – nice hs – blind to piked jaeger, solid form – good hs on high – toe on to bail, perfection in toes and vertical position – borderline final cast – DLO 1/1, a little short, small hop forward. 9.825

Stephen – VT – MSU – yfull, nearly finds the stick, arm swing to try to hold onto it and then ends up taking a step salute anyway – great height and open position, challenging Chae Campbell in the air. 9.875

Wojcik – UB – Michigan – toe on to deltchev to overshoot, great – good final cast hs – DLO, short landing, step forward. They’re not sticking these dismounts and getting hit for steps and body position. 9.800

Nyah Smith in exhibition as well as Kaylen Morgan for Michigan – maloney to pak is nicely done, double front dismount, small movement. Yeah, she’s close to being ready for lineup and would have outscored a couple of the routines today.

Big lead for Michigan State after 1: 49.400 to 49.125

Good landing control for Michigan State today on vault to help beef up the score, several sticks, a couple doing pretty much their best vaults, but the judges also going high there early in this one with Michigan’s vaulting rotation still to come. We’ll see if they have judged themselves into a corner. Michgan mostly lost it on the dismount landings there. Almost all of them incurring .150 just on position and steps on dismount. They were semi-conservative on Heiskell’s 9.875 in the leadoff spot, but then no one was better than her.

Rotation 2

Mulligan – VT – Mich – No Guggino today – good amplitude on yfull, pretty solid chest up position, medium step back – a bit of legs on block. 9.825

Schulte – UB – MSU – good first hs – shaposh with leg form to bail, short of vertical there – arches over handstand on high bar and comes off. Resumes with her dismount DLO, pretty. Stuck. 9.325

Wojcik – VT – Mich – Y1.5 – lands deep today but pulls it out – deduction for short landing and the bounce back. 9.850 is very high for that vault.

Stephen – UB – MSU – good first hs on low – toe on to maloney, some position on catch but nice in the air, good height – clear hip to bail, clean body position – quite short cast hs on high – FTDT, nearly holds the stick, step back into salute. 9.800

Heiskell – VT – Mich – beautiful Y1.5, overcooks it with a bounce forward and then an additional step-salute. She had come up under in the final warmup vault. 9.775

Jackard – UB – MSU – good first hs – blind to jaeger, clean – a bit short on hs – bail, legs together – solid cast hs on high – giant full a little past into double tuck, stuck. 9.850

Morrison – VT – Mich – Y1.5, also with a pretty large bounce forward but more control than Heiskell. Good position in the air. 9.875

Zsarmani – UB – MSU – good hs – pak, lovely position – maloney to gienger, smooth – arch back in cast hs on high – DLO, small movement. 9.875

Brooks – VT – Mich – Y1.5 – lands just a tad under, small movement back. Can probably get away with .05 on the movement, but was still short. And gets 9.900. Michigan getting the same benefit as MSU in these vault scores.

Nikki Smith – UB – MSU – toe on is short – maloney to pak, some feet but good leg position – cast 1/2 on  low, good finish position – hits final cast hs – DLO, stuck landing, nice. 9.850

Wilson – VT – Mich – Y1.5 – nearly sticks, their best one so far, but a little hop forward and some direction. 9.925

Harkness – UB _ MSU _ toe on is clean to gienger, nice legs together – bail, hit – some borderline cast hs verticals – FTDT, small slide back and lands a bit staggered. 9.875

Kaylen Morgan is exhibition again for Michigan.

Another rotation in which Michigan underperformed expectations with mostly uncontrolled landings, but here they got away with a reasonable score on 49.375. MSU goes 49.250 on bars primarily thanks to better landing control than Michigan showed for their 49.125, pretty much throughout the lineup.

After 2:
MSU 98.650
Michigan 98.500

Rotation 3

Kalefe – BB – MSU – hits full turn – bhs bhs loso, very clean, right on – switch to stick jump full, around, to beat jump – gainer full, stuck. Nice start. 9.850

Guggino – FX – Mich – double pike, controlled, keeps front foot down – front lay to front full, bit of a bounce out – switch side to popa, hit – front lay to rudi, bounce back. 9.825

Zsarmani – BB – MSU – kickover piked to bhs, very well done – switch to switch side, small adjustment – 1.5 dismount, ends up with a somewhat large lunge back. 9.825

Heiskell – FX – Mich – double arabian, pretty solid, small slide back – switch 1/2 to wold dull, clearly around – back 1.5 to front full, a bit low but secure step. 9.875

Schulte – BB – MSU – switch to switch 1/2 to beat jump, secure combo – bhs loso, also right on, bent knees – switch to gainer full, mostly holds the landing, chest forward, saves it before salute. 9.850

Koulos – FX – Mich – 2.5 to front tuck, good height, ever so slightly steppy on landing – switch 1/2 to wolf full, around – double pike, chest up, controls front foot. Good. 9.925

Alert that Utah/Oklahoma is getting close to starting.

Nikki Smith – BB – MSU – bhs loso, very solid – switch, some low back leg, connected to straddle 1/4 well – full turn – double tuck, hit, chest up, lunge back. 9.825

Morrison – FX – Mich – FTDT, great body position, controls her step – front lay to front full, solid rise, a bit of step – switch 1/2 to wolf full;, solid position on switch 1/2 – double tuck, legs together, chest up. That was stronger than Koulos for me, so brace yourself for the end of this rotation. Ah, she goes 9.925 as well. Bunching.

Stephen – BB – MSU – aerial to two feet, good height, a small amount of knees at the end – full turn, good – bhs loso, secure, some leg position in the air – beat to straddle 1/2, on – 2/1, stuck landing, leg crossing. Another good one. 9.900

Brooks – FX – Mich – FTDT, good chest up, small slide back with front foot – split leap full to split jump full, great positions – front tuck through to double tuck, nailed the landing. Good. 9.950

Oklahoma/Utah starting now. Rotation 1.

Sievers – VT – OU – Y1.5, nailed the landing to start. So this will be a good test of the scoring here. Some knees, we’ll see bigger vaults, great landing. 9.950

Morgan – UB – Utah – good first hs – maloney, som legs into bhardwaj, hit, just a tad of foot position at the very end – 1/2 turh on low – toe on to toe pike 1/2 dismount, finds the landing, but ends up shuffling forward out of it. 9.825

Torrez – VT – OU – nearly finds the landing on her Y1.5 – a little short with a small shuffle back, some direction, more distance than Sievers. 9.775. They actually took for short vault, which is nice to see.

Michigan State got 9.850 from Garcia to finish beam on 49.275. Wilson came up a little short on her final double tuck with a rebound. Still goes 9.875 for a 49.550 floor total for Michigan and the lead.

Brenner – UB – Utah – shortish first hs – blind to jaeger, caught into overshoot – some vertical positions here but OK – DLO, not the highest, small slide back. 9.850

Stern – VT – OU – she also finds the stick on her Y1.5 – more distance than Sievers, I’d say still a little bit of stagger and lean on landing, but it was also better than the Sievers 9.950 so we’ll see what happens.

And she’s on 9.975

Thompson – UB – Utah – hits first hs – pak, very clean – maloney to gienger, some leg break in swing – can’t get up to handstand, way way short, basically horizontal – DLO dismount, swim and a lean to hold onto the landing. 9.675

Bowers – VT – OU – Y1.5 is also excellent, a bigger vault than Sievers and Stern but also a little bit of a step on landing and some direction. 9.950.

Everything is 9.950.

O’Keefe – UB – Utah – good first hs – maloney to pak, legs together well – 1/2 turn on low – short final cast hs on high – double arabian, small amount of legs, drops into a good stick. 9.850

Levasseur – VT – OU – beautiful Y1.5 in the air – I would say the best combination of form and distance so far, but also not a completely secure landing with that little lean onto toes and salute. 9.925

Isa – UB – Utah – Ray, hit – bail, good vertical, toes pointed – giant full is right on top, connected to DLO, holds the stick with some chest position. 9.875

Davis – VT – OU – Y1.5, dropping the level some there – a larger bounce forward and a big leg break on her block. 9.850

McCallum – UB – Utah – maloney to pak, legs together – solid hs on high – van leeuwen, clips her legs on the low bar – FTDT, small rebound. 9.750. Hitting the apparatus is .200 so that’s high for me with the dismount and the form that happened after the leg hit.

It’s a 49.650 on vault for Oklahoma, four really excellent vaults there that also highlighted the problem NCAA judging has when multiple routines are great because they have to be high into the 9.9s since normal with errors is scoring 9.850, but then they all get the same scores for not the same execution, height, and distance.

Like, I want to say Levasseur’s was the best one?

After 1:
Oklahoma 49.650
Utah 49.150

Exceptional rotation from Oklahoma, while Utah was fine on bars but had the big handstand error from Thompson and the bars hit from McCallum, so the McCallum score had to count, exacerbating the disparity between the two thus far.

Michigan took over the lead on MSU after 3 events, but MSU gets to finish on floor, so still right in this. Michigan starts beam with 9.825 from Bauman, MSU starts floor with 9.875 from Nyah Smith.

Rotation 2

Hoffman – VT – Utah – hits a solif yfull, medium bounce back, not as much height as the later Oklahoma vaults. 9.825

Sievers – UB – Oklahoma – small arch in first hs – maloney to pak, lovely, legs together – 1/2 turn on low – FTDT, good stick, doesn’t rise super high, but enough. 9.875

Brenner – VT – Utah – really good landing on her Y1.5 – small hop to the side, some knees and direction. 9.875

Torrez – UB – Oklahoma – good first hs – maloney to psk, some form on maloney, good on pak – 1/2 turn on low is well done – a bit short on final cast hs – DLO, good landing.

Stanhope – VT – Utah – great distance on Y1.5 but comes up under, also step back, actually a second step as well. 9.800

Fletcher – UB – OU – piked jaeger, clean – short cast hs after – pak, hit – some hip angle in verticals – FTDT, some feet, good stick. 9.875

M Smith – VT – Utah – great stick on her Omelianchik today – good distance – direction deduction. 9.950. So not much of a direction deduction…

R Smith – UB – OU – good first hs – Ray, some position – another good cast – toe on to pak, clean – 1/2 turn on low was good but she overkips on the low bar and can’t start to cast and adds an empty swing – finishes DLO with a small hop. 9.700

Rucker – VT – Utah – great stick on her Y1.5 as well – good height, some knees – same stick and knee form as Stern but more height, so we’ll see. And it’s 9.975 for her as well.

Sierra Brooks splits the beam for Michigan, so they’ll need to drop that.

Bowers – UB – OU – good first hs – blind to jaeger, lovely and high in the air, elbows on catch? – hits cast hs – pak, perfect – 1/2 turn on low is solid – hitting all handstands – FTDT, nearly finds the stick, ever so slightly forward and kind of slides into her salute. 9.900

McCallum – VT – Utah – Y1.5 is hit, medium pace forward, some knees, solid. 9.900 a little high for me.

Davis – UB – OU – hggins to piked jaeger, hit, maybe a little close – good hs – pak, legs together well – 1/2 turn on low is solid – good final cast – higgins to double front 1/2 out, some legs in the air and a step back. 9.875

Michigan will now have to count a 9.550 from Heiskell, which is big news for MSU.

Utah goes 49.525 on vault to nearly go where Oklahoma went. Oklahoma loses a little ground with its 49.425 on bars, a good rotation but one that didn’t really live up to where the scores were trending with those final three routines.

After 2:
Oklahoma 99.075
Utah 98.675

Wojcik will finish Michigan’s beam rotation – aerial with a small shoulder drop check – switch to split is nice – bhs bhs loso is secure – holds the 1.5 dismount onto her toes. 9.900

Schulte will close out the win for Michigan State on floor – FTDT, bounce back OOB – switch 1/2 to popa to straddle jump, good positions – front tuck through to double tuck, good stick.

Michigan with 48.925 on beam to end them on 196.975, another team with its flattest performance of the season here in week 3. They’ll lose to Michigan State’s 197.200.

Rotation 3

Dunn – BB – OU – bhs bhs loso, right on – split jump to split jump 1/2, secure, a bit of feet in the air – full turn, hit – gainer full, stuck. Good start. 9.875

Paulson – FX – Utah – front tuck through to 2.5, controls the step, some knees in twist – front lay to front full, under control – switch 1/1 is pretty close to around, sissone – 1.5 to front lay, controls the step again. 9.825

Siegfeldt – BB – OU – bhs loso and falls – cat leap to aerial, arm wave correction – beat to split ring jump, nice – gainer full, stuck. 9.225

M Smith – FX – Utah – front 2/1, controls the step – rudi to loso, controls it well – switch ring to switch 1/2, not the best closure in that ring or height in the combination – 2.5, controlled, some leg crossing. 9.875

Bowers – BB – OU – clean full turn – bhs loso, nearly on, but a trouble wobble working out of it, arm wave, turn to the side – split leap to swithc 1/2, good switch 1/2 position – 2/1, bounce back. 9.725

Again the curse of Sam starting to talk strikes during Bowers’ routine.

Eaker – FX – Utah – oh, she’s in another lineup – front rudi, seems like she wanted to do a front 2/1 because she Nabieva’d out of it and bounced around the 1/2 turn after landing – double y spin, around enough for NCAA – switch ring to switch 1/2, not her highest – back 1.5 to front lay with a slide forward. So she’s on 9.9 start here. 9.675

Davis – BB – OU – bhs loso series, secure, a bit of knee – aerial is very pretty – beat to split ring jump, also secure – 2/1, stuck landing with some leg crossing. Excellent. 9.900

Gilstrap – FX – Utah – front lay to rudi, good, keeps front foot down – switch to switch ring 1/2, showing what the ring position in a ring 1/2 should look like – front lay to front full goes off to the side a bit with a sideward step and some knees. 9.850

Torrez – BB – OU – opens with a great wolf jump – side aerial to loso, right on – full turn, hit – switch to switch 1/2, also nice positions – double tuck dismount, bounce back. Strong. 9.900 and probably a .10 on the dismount too.

Rucker – FX – Utah – FTDT, short, chest forward and a lunge – switch to switch 1/1, close to around, into stag jump – front lay to front full, under on the front lay, does get it around but it’s a little short and low. 9.725 that will count.

R Smith – BB – OU – bhs loso, maybe a small adjustment after landing – aerial, holds it – straddle 1/2 to korbut, lovely – bhs gainer full, holds onto the stick there. Nice. 9.950

McCallum – FX – Utah – FTDT, little slide back with front foot – split leap full to popa, looked a little under on that split position today – front lay to rudi, bounce back. 9.925 is pretty high. Getting ready for whatever’s going to happen with Oklahoma I guess.

Neither team will be super thrilled with that third rotation as they both ended up counting a 9.725, but Oklahoma’s 49.350 will expand the lead on Utah’s 49.200. Strong ending to the rotation for Oklahoma, for Utah, no one really nailed their routines, and they had a couple errors.

After 3:
Oklahoma 148.425
Utah 147.875

Rotation 4

Morgan – BB – Utah – walkover mount, subtle arm wave, basically nothing – bhs bhs loso, secure – split jump to straddle 1/4 with a wobble – front gainer full, great stick. 9.900

Johnson – FX – OU – front lay to rudi, takes it far and steps back OOB – switch 1/2 to wolf full, wolf full is nice – double tuck, chest forward, step forward. 9.675

McCallum – BB – Utah – wolf double, now does the triple, does not count it out on her fingers – bhs loso, secure landing, foot flexing – split jump, wobbles, no dance combo – now does split jump to straddle 1/4 with a lean wobble – gainer tuck full, step back into salute. 9.775

R Smith – FX – OU – double tuck, good feet, slide back – back 1.5 to front lay, good lay, dance out but shows enough control – switch side to popa, more than necessary split – double pike is short, lunge forward. Oklahoma not nailing these last passes so far. 9.875 is way too high for that.

Paulson – BB – Utah – side aerial to loso and falls – so that means McCallum’s score is counting – switch to sissone, nice – beat to side aerial to 1.5, some direction, small movement. 9.075

Sievers – FX – OU – FTDT, chest up, controls step, some legs in the air – front tuck through to double tuck, lunge back but keeps it in bounds – switch side to popa is good – 9.900

Eaker – BB – Utah – switch leap to split leap and she has an arm wave correction while moving that she covers pretty well – side aerial to loso, good landing, drops into it – gainer full dismount, takes it really close to the beam but it’s OK, step back. 9.900.

Fletcher – FX – OU – 3/1, one of the better ones in terms of actually getting it around – front lay to front full., nice height – switch 1/2 to popa, under on switch 1/2 position – 2.5 final pass is under and a shuffle back. 9.850

Isa – BB – Utah – good candle mount – very strange error on a cartwheel, deep lean – bhs loso loso is hit though – beat to straddle 1/4, hit – bhs gainer full, stuck. I’m going to assign that cartwheel to the Peszek curse as well. 9.850

Torrez – FX – OU – DLO, nice to see legs together on a DLO – split leap full to popa, around but a little out of control – front tuck through to double tuck, chest up, also controls the step. Good. 9.950

O’Keefe – BB – Utah – side aerial to loso is right on – switch to split leap, lovely switch position – full turn, hit – good amplitude in beat jump – bhs gainer full, stuck. Strong finish.

And it’s 9.975 for O’Keefe. Lots of 9.975s this week.

Bowers – FX – OU – double pike, perfect position – switch, very good – front 2/1 to front tuck, does very well to pull out the landing on the front tuck because it got low – switch 1/2 to wolf full, very nice –

Utah ends up with a 49.400 on beam and a 197.275 total, equaling their first meet result. Some good moments, some raggedies.

Oklahoma goes 49.500 on floor, their second-best rotation of the day, to score their second-best 197.9 of the young season, by far the strongest score of the weekend.

FINAL:
Oklahoma – 197.925
Utah – 197.275

In the early action today, Illinois and Rutgers certainly were not hit with the crumblies that befell many teams yesterday, both putting up season highs with Illinois on 196.575 and Rutgers on 196.375. That Rutgers score is their second best of all time and nearly set a program record.

Meanwhile, Oregon State and Denver should be a solid back-and-forth considering Denver’s 197.2 last weekend compared to Oregon State’s 196.850 with a miss. And with some of the flatter scores for top teams yesterday, UCLA has a shot to move up/solidify its position with a repeat of last weekend. They’ll be looking for 197.775 to catch Florida.

I still don’t see a scores link for UCLA/Washington as of now, so if it stays that way, I’ll do my best to keep this updated with all the scores from the TV broadcast once that one starts. We’re just starting intros at Oregon St.

McMillan and Dagen in the bars lineup today for Oregon St, so we’ll see how things shake out there. They both competed bars in week 1 but not last week.

Lynnzee Brown is adding back vault today.

Rotation 1

Garcia – VT – Oregon St – hits a yfull, medium bounce back, laid out position, solid. 9.775

We’ll see how much other teams we’re getting today…

Young – VT – Oregon St – bigger yfull than Garcia, also some bounce back – small leg break in the air, small pike down at the end. 9.825

Ruiz started bars for Denver with 9.825. Thompson followed with 9.800.

Letzsch – VT – Oregon St – some direction on her yfull, good tight body position, but gets off line and has the bounce back. 9.850, and one just went 9.900, so that judge definitely didn’t take for direction.

Gonzales – VT – Oregon St – ro full on back pike, chest forward today with a step. 9.750

Casali 9.850 on bars.

Dagen – VT – Oregon St – nearly nailed her Y1.5, but comes in a little short with a step back, some knees. So probably a tenth for the step, a tenth for short, and a half tenth for knees? 9.775

Carey – VT – Oregon St – landing looked better than last weekend from this angle. Scoots her heels together, not a ton of movement back, less than last time. Can take for leg separation on the block, knees in the air if you want. They don’t. 9.975 today.

Oregon State at 49.200 on vault.

One judge had that vault rotation at 49.350 and one judge had it at 49.050. So glad they were both watching the same meet.

Mundell finishes up Denver’s bars rotation with a secure landing on her double lay. She goes 9.925 to take Denver to 49.325, which will be the lead after one rotation.

Marcus – BB – Brown – bhs loso series, some knee on bhs, secure landing – punch front, we only see her feet but it looked hit? – beat to split jump 3/4, well under split, not a lot of movement on landing though – 1.5 dismount, large lunge forward. 9.675

Gilman – FX – Sac St – double pike, bounce back – aerial shot of the middle of the floor during her pass was a choice – split leap full to popa, around, some loose foot position – front lay to front full, a little under but works it out for a forward step – double tuck, well short but survives it, head down, lunge forward. 9.650

Contello – BB – Brown – bhs loso, wobble, bend at waist – split straddle 1/4, pretty solid – switch to split jump 3/4, another fun closeup of her feet – aerial, good amplitude, step back to save it – full turn – gainer pike, bound forward. 9.650

Koeth finishing floor for Sac State, 1.5 to layout, low lay, has to tuck it over some to get it around.

Brown is done on 48.075 and Sac State is done on 48.425 for the first rotation.

After 1:
Denver – 49.325
Oregon St – 49.200
Sac St – 48.425
Brown – 48.075

I’m interested to see how the bars rotation goes for Oregon State today, but this is a pretty rough broadcast with mainly just Oregon State routines, so I’ll probably completely switch over to UCLA/Washington when that one starts.

Rotation 2

Beeman – UB – Oregon St – blind to jaeger, looked like some elbows on batch – leg break down to low bar – stalder to double tuck, stuck landing – some elbow bending and legs apart moments throughout here but nothing too major. 9.800

Dagen – UB – Oregon St – good first hs – tkatchev, hit – bail, legs together – short hs on high – toe on to giant full to double tuck, secure landing. A couple hip angles, clean hit. 9.850 with one 9.900

Weaver – UB – Oregon St – shorter first hs – giant full to gienger and falls, good amplitude and leg position in the air, couldn’t get her hand over – resumes with bail, angle – giant full, good vertical into double tuck, holds the landing. 9.050

McMillan – UB – Oregon St – toe on to maloney, small leg great, connects to bail, good legs together – solid hs on high – DLO, some legs apart and pike, step back. She was expected to be a thing for Oregon State on bars and you can see the makings of a late-lineup routine here. 9.825

Briones – UB – Oregon St – shorter first hs – higgins is somewhat late into jaeger, hit, a bit close – hits her pak – DLO, chest forward and a bounce. 9.775

We check in on Davis from Brown on floor, double pike, chest forward, step.

Carey – UB – Oregon St – maloney to bhardwaj, hit, solid legs together – van leeuwen, good – FTDT, bounce back. Solid, some feet moments and the hop back on dismount. We see 9.900 from one judge. And it’s 9.925

Haven’t gotten the last couple scores on each event, but we’re on beam waiting on Mundell now. No, we’re back to the Oregon State bars exhibitions. Should be a bars rotation over 49 this week for OSU. Yes, 49.175. Big improvement there.

Seeing a little of Mundell on beam now – switch to switch 1/2 and falls, the elements were lovely in the air. That means Mabanta’s 9.675 will count.

Bedell is anchoring Brown on floor, front thuck through to double back, good amplitude and chest up on landing – split leap full to split jump full, good toes – split leap 1.5, just a hair under – double pike, chest a bit lower, controls step back. Good.

We see a good background kickover front to bhs from Hutchinson on beam for Denver. And also we saw her salute! Fun! 9.775

After 2, Oregon State is on 98.375, Denver 98.150, Sac State is on 96.775, and Brown is on 96.525. Counting a 9.6 and 9.7 on beam drops Denver behind Oregon State after 2.

And now we move to UCLA against Washington.

Steele is back on bars for UCLA today, and Frazier is anchoring vault. Could that mean the DTY is making an appearance? No Malabuyo or Frazier on floor today. Lashbrooke, Anyimi, and McNamara all in that lineup today.

“She went away for a while” is how we’re describing Jen Llewelyn’s time as head coach at Lindenwood.

Rotation 1

Innes – VT – UW – yfull, pikes down a fair amount – lands short, chest forward and a hop forward. 9.500

Campbell – UB – UCLA – maloney to bail, solid – good vertical on high – blind to double front, cowboy and a hop forward. 9.800

Brooks – VT – UW – Y1/2 – a little short but pulls it out – hop back shuffle. 9.675

Lee – UB – UCLA – pak, leg break – short cast hs on low – toe on to van leeuwen, pretty position – DLO, holds onto the stick with chest forward. 9.800

Navarro – VT – UW – clean yfull, only a small amount of pike, small hop back. 9.775

Steele – UB – UCLA – good first hs – maloney to pak, legs pretty well together – hesitant on 1/2 turn on low bar – short final cast hs – DLO, some piking, chest down, hop forward. On her way to moving back into the lineup, mostly good stuff on the bars. 9.825

SKW – VT – UW – good amplitude and position on her yfull, medium bounce back, strong vault. 9.850

Harris – UB – UCLA – good first hs – Ray, solid – looks good on high bar hs – bail, crisp, legs together – solid hs on high – giant full, good finish position into DLO, chest down but holds the stick. Very strong. 9.925

Cunningham – VT – UW – another yfull with good amplitude and a medium bounce back. Solid. 9.875

Chiles – UB – UCLA – piked tkatchev to pak, very clean – good hs on low bar – maloney to gienger, legs together on gienger – maybe tight hs on high – FTDT, flings it out a little but has the landing, slide salute. 9.925

Schrady – VT – UW – hits a yfull, not as strong as the last two – chest down, some direction and leg separation, not as much distance, pike down. 9.575

Frazier – UB – UCLA – good first hs – maloney to pak, good pak legs, some separation on maloney – 1/2 turn on low is excellent – short final cast hs – DLO, small bounce back. Good. 9.875

We have Oregon State on 49.525 on beam with a 9.950 for Carey.

After 1: UCLA 49.350 on bars to Washington 48.750 on vault. Isn’t it nice to be at a Washington home meet with its pretty realistic scoring? I’m sure that’s me speaking too soon, but those scores seemed pretty reasonable.

Rotation 2

Why is there a gaggle of footballs here on the floor? With all their shoes? Shouldn’t the second rotation be starting?

Anyimi – VT – UCLA – hits her yfull, some pike throughout and definitely off direction, good distance, small hop to the side. 9.700

Brooks – UB – UW – shapoah, some legs to clear hip – bail, leg separation – solid hs on high – giant full, leg break, good vertical – double tuck, slide back. 9.775

Lee – VT – UCLA – good clean yfull, bounce back, not quite the distance of SKW or Cunningham, good direction. 9.850

Russon – UB – UW – a bit short on hs – blind to jaeger to overshoot, good legs on jaeger – solid hs on high – giant full to double tuck, lean forward, can’t hold the stick with a step salute. 9.750

Campbell – VT – UCLA – great full and great stick today – brings heels together, no movement of balls of the feet – chest forward. 9.900

Moody – UB – UW – short first hs – toe on to maloney, legs to pak – small pause in 1/2 turn on low – shortish final cast hs – FTDT, bounce back. 9.725

Harris – VT – UCLA – Y1.5 very good stick from her as well, nicely done, just a bit of soft knees. 9.950. It’s fair, and there are also plenty of meets where that would have been 10 because there are no rules.

Oppegard – UB – UW – blind to jager, good height – shorter cast hs – bail, hits vertical, perhaps some loose back – good hs on high – DLO, a little lower but gets it around, small step back. 9.750

Chiles – VT – UCLA – DTY, lands pretty short today, chest down, lunge forward. 9.650

Tubbs – UB – UW – toe on to maloney to bail, good legs togther on bail, just a bit of angle – rushes final cast hs pretty significantly – DLO, rebound back, a couple small steps. 9.800

Frazier – VT – UCLA – yfull – another large rebound back, some pike but not as much as before. 9.725

SKW – UB – UW – piked jaeger to overshoot is solid, good amplitude – hits hs on high – blind to front giant 1/2 to double tuck, good height, hop back. 9.825

UCLA 49.125 on vault after two excellent vaults from Campbell and Harris but also having to count two scores in the 9.7s. A classic UCLA rotation. Washington on 48.900 on bars.

Denver ends up not putting in Brown on vault. 49.300 there and a 196.725 total.

After 2:
UCLA – 98.475
Washington – 97.650

Rotation 3

Brooks – BB – UW – kickover, keeps moving into bhs – switch to split jump, a bit short on split jump, gets there on switch – aerial, small hesitation but keeps moving to beat jump – stag to gainer full, stuck. Good one. 9.850

Carey ended up with a 9.975 on floor as well for Oregon State for 39.825. Oregon State done on 197.200 for the win.

McNamara – FX – UCLA – music restart – punch rudi to straddle jump, good control – switch to switch side to wolf jump 1/2, a bit under on wolf position – 1.5 to layout, some legs in 1.5, some height, solid. Probably her best this year. 9.825

Moody – BB – UW – bhs loso to beat jump is hit, secure, some leg position – switch to split, hit, back leg position – full turn, hit – side aerial, leg up wobble to horizontal – 1.5 dismount, bounce forward. 9.675

Lashbrooke – FX – UCLA – double tuck, bounce back, just does stay in – “she’s on an explorer’s adventure, apparently, during this routine” Alisa is the best – back 1.5 to front lay, controls the step – switch side to popa, solid amplitude – double pike, controls, chest a bit down. 9.850

Bowles – BB – UW – side aerial to bhs and saves it – large break, leg up to horizontal – full turn, nice – split jump to straight jump full, not quite all the way around this time, which causes a large bend at the waist, past horizontal – side aerial is pretty – front gainer full off the end, slide salute. 9.450

Looks like Malabuyo is in the FX lineup now, no Anyimi.

Malabuyo – FX – UCLA – double tuck, great landing, chest up – 1.5 to layout, struggles on the layout, has to tuck it pretty significantly – switch ring to switch 1/2, nice positions shown on both – double pike, just a bit deep, slide-present. 9.825

Navarro – BB – UW – bhs bhs loso, secure – switch side is also hit – full turn – 1.5 dismount, good, small slide back. Some rhythm, some knees, but a good one. 9.850

Harris – FX – UCLA – FTDT, secure landing, a bit of chest position – double tuck, good height, chest up, controls the landing – split leap full to popa to shushunova, a bit crooked on popa but around well – 1.5 to 1/2 to double stag, solid. 9.925

Roberts – BB – UW – bhs bhs loso, hits with a shake side to side – full turn, hit, small arm flourish – switch to stag ring, wobble break and short back leg on switch – gainer full, holds the stick, lean forward. 9.700

Chiles – FX – UCLA – DLO, chest forward, controls the step – front tuck through to double tuck, solid landing, chest forward again but she’s selling the landings pretty well – split leap full to wolf full, around – double pike, chest up more, controlled again. 9.950

SKW – BB – UW – aerial to bhs loso, hits it, keeps moving, some foot flexing at the end – kickover to beat jump is pretty – switch to split, nice – side aerial to 1.5 dismount, nearly holds the stick with a college salute. 9.850

Campbell – FX – UCLA – FTDT, just a bit short, step forward – split leap full to popa, pretty positions, around – front lay to front full, under control – double tuck, chest up, looks like she kept the front foot down. Good. 9.925

Washington goes 48.925 on beam, UCLA on 49.475 on floor.

After 3:
UCLA 147.950
Washington 146.625

UCLA has the routines to rely on for big numbers at the end of that floor rotation to keep the total high, though this still isn’t going to be a huge number. With a giant beam, they’re still in contention to best Auburn’s 197.5 from yesterday.

Rotation 4

Jim just learned what a DJ is.

Lee – BB – UCLA – bhs loso series is secure – switch to straddle jump, also comfortable – aerial, small lean to keep moving into split jump, wobble – bhs to gainer full, small movement. 9.825

SKW – FX – UW – front 2/1, around, pretty much controlled on step forward – switch to switch ring 1/2, looked somewhat low on the 1/2 ring position – back 1.5 to a front tuck adjustment – low, had to do a tuck. So that’s going to be a C+A .1 instead of a C+B .2. 9.800

Alipio – BB – UCLA – aerial to back tuck, large break, keeps it on the beam, big lean over at the waist – switch 1/2 to beat, solid – side aerial, pause before split jump so something to work with there – gainer tuck full, stuck. 9.575

Innes – FX – UW – front 2/1, crossover step, some knees – switch to wolf full wolf full, a bit under on wolf position horizontal – 1.5 to front lay, small hop forward, lay position looked good – rudi, slide back. 9.750

Alisa name dropping Gymkata, a star.

Campbell – BB – UCLA – bhs loso, larger break, leg flies up to horizontal – side aerial, solid – full turn, hit – split leap to switch 1/2 to beat, pretty high – gainer full, good stick. 9.725 that will have to count.

Navarro – FX – UW – double tuck, chest up well – switch side to popa, good positions, overturns switch side a tad – back 1.5 to front lay, a bit crooked but finds a good layout position there – double pike, hit, chest well down. 9.900

Chiles – BB – UCLA – bhs loso loso, great height, lean to the side correction with an arm wave – switch to wolf jump, good wolf height, adjustment again after it, and then a bigger step back wobble – full turn – side aerial, leg up and corrects it into a leg-up hold, star – double pike, hop back. 9.700, also counting

Roberts – FX – UW – double tuck, good height, small slide back – back 1.5 to front lay, a bit of legs in 1.5, good clean front lay – switch 1/2 to wolf full – double pike, chest down, jars her back. 9.750

Harris – BB – UCLA – bhs loso bhs, very solid – switch, small pause before split leap to full turn, hit – side aerial, check – 1.5, good height, solid. 9.925

Cunningham – FX – UW – front tuck throuhg to double tuck, solid landing, chest down – switch 1/2 to wolf full to wolf full, clearly around – double pike, chest up a bit better, again strong landing. 9.950. Well now.

Malabuyo – BB – UCLA – wolf single, hit – bhs loso, small check – aerial, large wobble, leg up – split jump to split ring jump to beat jump to get that bonus – bhs gainer full, bounce back. 9.775

Russon – FX – UW – split ring jump full, around, not a clear ring position there – double pike, two small steps back, stays in bounds – switch to split leap 1.5, we’ll see if it’s around – front lay to front full, hit, shortish, small step.

So after a shaky beam, UCLA is done on 196.900, which is kind of in keeping with what we’ve seen from a lot of the top teams so far this weekend, some good moments but also some blah rotations and routines mixed in. Washington goes 195.775, a step down from the big 196 they got last week. This was also one of the more realistically scored meets we’ve seen involving a top-10 team this season.

Missouri’s visit to LSU and Kentucky’s visit to Georgia kick things off today, with Florida and Alabama following not long after.

Neither Alabama nor Missouri have been into the 197s yet this year, and both will view today’s competitions as prime opportunities to do so. Given what we’ve seen so far this season, it will be tough for Alabama to challenge Florida, but the team will primarily be after the kind of score today that outpaces Kentucky and Missouri and maybe LSU depending on how things go. LSU should face enough of a challenge from Missouri that they’ll need to aim to replicate the kind of score we saw on Monday to feel OK about life.

Looks like Amari Celestine is in today for Missouri. LSU has Brock in again on vault and Tatum in again on bars. No Wilson.

Rotation 1

Arenas – VT – LSU – good amplitude on yfull, medium bounce back on landing, controls to minimize it though. 9.825

Schreiber – UB – MU – maloney, a bit of legs into bail, horrific camera angle to start – a bit short on hs on high – DLO, comes in slightly deep, hop forward. 9.825

Shchennikova – VT – LSU – Y1.5 – better block today, good amplitude, lunge forward, some knees. 9.875

Lawrence – UB – MU – maloney to pak, good legs together position – some loose back position in 1/2 turn on low bar – blind to double front, step forward. Good. 9.850

Katie Finnegan is in on vault for Georgia this week. Large judge split, 9.700 to 9.850.

Brock – VT – LSU – clean body position on Y1.5 – lunge forward, a bit larger than Shchennikova’s. 9.850

Celestine – UB – MU – toe on to maloney, legs together – pak, arched position but a LOT better than last season – 1/2 turn on low – foot movement hesitation stepping on up high – toe on pike 1/2, stuck. Nice. 9.850

KJ Johnson – VT – LSU – found the solid landing on her yfull today, but definite small direction deduction there. 9.900

Sheremeta – UB – MU – good first hs – blind to jaeger, small amount of elbows, flexed feet, connects to good overshoot – rudi dismount,, stuck. nice.

Finnegan – VT – LSU – more control on the Omel today, still a .1 pace forward, but smaller in size. 9.850

Moore – UB – MU – tkatchev, high into overshoot, some hip angle in the air that combination but good amplitude – FTDT, small slide back. 9.875

Bryant – VT – LSU – nailed her handspring pike 1/2 today, the question is whether she scooted back or just brought her heels together on stick.

And it’s a 10.000 for Bryant. I might have said 9.950 since my view is that any movement is not a stick, but not surprised by 10 here. It’s just an issue of landing. It wasn’t like the Carey clear hop from last weekend.

Hu – UB – MU – Church was huge but she hit her foot on the low bar swinging through and had to come off.  Pak to stand. Drag.

So LSU gets the big score from the anchor and Missouri does not, which will create some separation early.

After 1: LSU 49.475, Missouri 49.250

Good vaulting for LSU, scores high but normal-high. Most of them honed their landings a little from the week before, shrinking the size of the steps.

Meanwhile, Georgia gets a pretty charitable 49.225 on vault to take a lead on Kentucky’s 49.100 on bars.

Rotation 2

Lawrence – VT – MU – yfull, body position throughout, knees, hop back. 9.750

Jeffrey – UB – LSU – maloney to pak, leg separation – 1/2 turn on low bar, a bit late – borderline cast hs on high – FTDT, good amplitude, finds landing. 9.925 is….something.

McCrary – VT – MU – hits yfull, will get deducted for dynamics, some pike position, step back. 9.775

Arenas – UB – LSU – good first hs – tkatchev to pak, legs apart on pak – quick 1/2 turn on low – a bit short on final cast hs – DLO, slight piking, small hop back. 9.850

Angeny hits a good bars for Georgia in her Kentucky clash.

Schreiber – VT – MU – better form on her yfull but comes in a little deep with a slide back.

Tatum – UB – LSU – borderline first hs – ray to pak, feet on ray – 1/2 turn on low – better final cast hs this week – FTDT, feet apart, finds the stick. Much improved. Could merit the score from last time. Or get 9.900.

Davis – VT – MU – hits a Y1.5 but comes in a little short with a step back. Still gets 9.825 just cuz.

Finnegan – UB – LSU – good piked jaeger – arch on high bar, pulls it back – lovely toe position but losing her back posiution a coupel times her – double arabian, finds the stick. 9.850. TFW you have an actual obvious deduction so get no reward for your superior form compared to people who are throwing out just anything.

Celestine – VT – MU – ahhh what happened? Stopped her run in the middle so she can go again. Trip? does a Y1.5 on her second attempt and hits it, large lunge forward and some direction. 9.775

Shchennikova – UB – LSU – ah I see we’re getting the far angle so we can’t talk about any of the deductions. Clever, clever. Chest down and step forward on the DLO landing this week. 9.775

Moore – VT – MU – ncie Y1.5, nearly finds the stick, step salute and some direction. 9.875

Bryant – UB – LSU – blind to jaeger, hit – bail, clean position – double front 1/2 out, finds the stick with a little body adjustment, nice. 9.900

A 49.325 on bars for Georgia will extend the lead over Kentucky, which had some landing troubles in numerous places in that vault lineup.

After 2: LSU 98.900, Missouri 98.300.

Florida and Alabama starting now.

Shania Adams was super high on her yfull but also came in verrry deep and somehow held the stick? 9.675

Richards – UB – UF – maloney with legs into bail – short cast hs on high – DLO, legs apart, some feet, slide back. 9.725

Mitchell – VT – Alabama – Y1/2, overcooks it with a large lunge (.2) and an extra step. 9.700

Not the best start to this one…..

Blakely – UB – UF – maloney to pak, good legs in pak, some break in maloney – pretty solid 1/2 turn on low – good hs on high – toe 1/2 to front giant to double front, cowboy, holds the stick. One of her best ones. 9.775 seems actually kind of tight. I mean real, so for Florida standards, it’s insanely low.

Little – VT – Alabama – very much changing up the lineup today – hits a yfull, a bit flatter, slight pike – hop back. 9.775

Nguyen – UB – UF – good first hs on low – maloney to pak, small leg breaks on both – DLO, pretty, finds the nice. Nice finish. 9.900

Hudson – VT – Alabama – good height on Y1.5, comes in just a hair under but steps to the side instead of back, which was a good move. 9.875 is still a lot for that though.

DiCello – UB – UF – Ray, elbows, good height – nice cast hs – pak, clean to toe on to van leeuwen, legs together – maybe a bit short on final cast hs – FTDT, holds the stick, little lean. 9.925.

Gladieux – VT – Alabama – big full, pretty in the air, good distance, medium bounce back. 9.850.

Missed Rivers on beam for LSU but she’s at 9.175.

Thomas – UB – UF – good hs – maloney to pak, pretty – good hs on low – toe on to van leeuwen, clean – short hs on high bar tofday – DLO, little bounce up in place. Pretty as always, not a 10 today though. 9.925

Paradise – VT – Alabama – strong Y1.5 – hop forward, not too big, some knees. 9.900

Shchennikova on beam for LSU in the second spot, some checks, staying on, I think they’ll probably give her series but it’s risky.

Wong – UB – UF – maloney to pak, clean – good hs on low – van leeuwen, love her late twist – vertical hs on high – DLO, finds the stick again. Beautiful. I have at least .05 body position in her final cast hs though. 9.900.

After 1:
Florida 49.425
Alabama 49.100

Slow starts for both teams, but they pulled it together better in the later routines. Not a great rotation for Alabama, though. They’ll feel fortunate to get out of there with a 49.

Shchennikova goes 9.700 on beam for LSU, which will have to count. Big save from Ballard on her punch front on beam in the third spot, leg up to horizontal but she kept it on the beam. Saved the meet. Still goes 9.650 though, which will also have to count.

Also Georgia’s like basically going to get a 198 in this meet. It’s been, verrrrry friendly but this is also a legitimately pretty beam rotation so far.

Arenas – BB – LSU – switch to split, secure, a bit of back leg in split – bhs loso, arm wave to keep it on – kickover, secure – was going pretty well but her 1.5 dismount got negative amplitude, short with a step back. 9.750

Rotation 2

Clark – VT – UF – yfull – some of her best body position on vault – comes in a bit short with a hop up. 9.775

Hudson – UB – Alabama – arch on first hs – maloney to bail, hit, legs together on bail – better cast hs on high – giant full, solid finish position into double tuck, stuck. 9.775

Edwards – VT – UF – great amplitude on her yfull, very large bounce back. 9.825. That’s a pretty large bounce for 9.825

Little – UB – Alabama – good first hs – maloney and peels off, couldn’t get hands over. Resumes with redoing her mlaoney, gets it into pak, small leg break – good cast hs on high – DLO, hop back. Has the form to make it into this lineup regularly. 9.200

Richards – VT – UF – hits her Y1.5, was a bit under, covered it with a quick hop back. 9.875. I mean, it was still a short landing though…

Bryant goes 9.900 on beam to start saving the rotation for LSU.

Paradise – UB – Alabama – good first hs vbertical – ling to jaeger, hit – bail, secure – nearly a perfect hs on high but too perfect, went over the other way and falls. Alabama counting a bars fall now. 9.300

Finnegan finishes beam for LSU, pretty bhs loso loso series – switch to split, awkward split for her with a low back leg, which is definitely not her normal – aerial, hit – stuck gainer full.

DiCello – VT – UF – a bit better on her Y1.5 this week, still a bit under, small shuffle back. 9.850 isn’t the 9.900 she got last week, but still not really the instructions for short vault with movement back.

Waligora – UB – Alabama – good first hs – blind to ojaeger to overshoot, good amplitude – Kathy is not happy with her pause on low bar and neither am I – DLO 1/1, bounce back. Better one.

Wong – VT – UF – 1/2 on pike 1/2, some of her best amplitude on that vault but a large bounce back this week. 9.800

Finnegan got 9.950 on beam to save LSU for 48.950 in that rotation.

Machado – UB – Alabama – maloney to pak, small leg breaks – toe on to van leeuwen, slightly crossed body in the catch – toe full to double tuck, stuck. 9.875

Thomas – VT – UF – Y1.5 – beautiful, small hop forward. 9.900

So we’re going to watch Paradise’s Y1.5 for 9.900 and Thomas’s Y1.5 for 9.900 and they’re going to be of equivalent quality, right? RIGHT?

Blanco – UB – Alabama – pak, pretty – good hs on low – toe on to van leeuwenb, clean – maybe rushes hs on high a little – FTDT, holds the stick with an arm swim.

Blanco goes 9.900 so Alabama is on 48.675 there. Florida 49.250 on vault with another not ideal landing day.

After 2:
Florida 98.675
Alabama 97.775

After 3:
LSU 147.850
Missouri 147.575

Missouri picked up over three tenths there, but the deficit was very large before that.

Georgia 147.800
Kentucky 147.350

Georgia almost has the highest score after 3…

Lawrence opens beam for Missouri in the final rotation with a stick on her 1.5 dismount.

Ballard good control on DLO – lower on amplitude in her middle pass to stag jump – switch ring to switch 1/2, a bit of split angle on her ring – double pike, solid.

Rotation 3

Burgess – BB – Alabama – smooth full turn – one arm bhs to loso, solid – side aerial, solid – switch to beat jump – cat leap to switch side, secure – gainer pike, some chest position, good stick – extreme college salute. 9.900

DiCello – FX – Florida – front 2/1, crossover step – swtich ring to switch 1/2, hit, can attack that switch ring more – wolf single – 1.5 to front full, solid landing – 9.800

Lewis – BB – Alabama – we’re seeing most of those first years this week, which is nice, even if it’s been a bit….shaky – wolf turn has some low free leg, a bit ragged – split to stag ring, hit, small hesitation after – bhs loso, good height, leg up to horizontal – aerial to sissone, nice aerial position, short of sissone – gainer full, holds it. 9.775, gets away with it

Nguyen – FX – Florida – front 2/1 to lovely sissone, just a bit of leg crossing in twist – switch to switch 1/2, lovely positions – y turn to full turn combination – back 1.5 to front lay, clean layout position but didn’t really rise. 9.850

Brock with a stumble back OOB in the third spot for LSU on floor, but two countables before that. Missouri already has a 9.6 and 9.575 on beam.

Waligora – BB – Alabama – full turn, good – bhs loso series, secure landing, slightly tight position – side aerial, nice amplitude – split jump to tuck jump full ti beat jump, gets the tuck around – 1.5, holds the stick with a lean. 9.800

Baumann – FX – Florida – wolf double, comfortable – back 1.5 to front full, takes it pretty far and does a little hesitation shuffle to keep herself in bounds – nice high switch side to straddle jump, everyone else quit – double pike, a bit short with a step forward. 9.825

Hu is on beam for Missouri meanwhile – gorgeous mount work – y spin, stylish – aerial to aerial to scale, perfection – beat to split jump 3/4, on and around, a little compression to hold it – gainer full, low but holds the stick today. 9.925

Gladieux hit beam for Alabama while that was happening. 9.850

Wong – FX – Florida – hits her arabian double pike, was short and danced out of it instead of doing the stag connection – switch 1/2 to popa to popa, pulled them around to solid finish position – back 1/2 to front full, slightly low but controls it. 9.875

Hudson – BB – Alabama – aerail to bhs loso, hit, small adjustment at the hips – switch to beat – side aerial, whips arms back to avoid a check – 1.5 dismount, slide salute. 9.850

It’s a fall from Aleah Finnegan on floor on her opening pass.

Thomas – FX – Florida – DLO, huge, controls the front foot well – split leap full to popa to popa, a bit indistinct on landing position but good split positions and ends in the right place – front full to a stuck front lay, excellent. 9.950. Slacking.

Blanco – BB – Alabama – aerial, lovely – full turn, hit – bhs loso, no trouble today, good toe point – switch ring, great position, keeps it going into beat jump – 1.5 dismount, bounce forward.

LSU is done on 197.100 to Missouri’s 196.525.

Georgia is done on 197.225 to Kentucky’s 196.575.

So Georgia won, just like you figured.

Hurd – FX – UF – front lay to front full, a bit of knees – lunge forward but keeps back foot down – switch ring, loses her foot into the attempt at switch ring 1/2, kind of does it but just for the GIFs – split leap 1.5 and pulls it around – double pike, chest well down, and a stagger bounce forward. 9.675

So that will be 49.300 on floor for Florida to 49.250 on beam for Alabama. Neither team really knocking it out today. Florida leads by nearly a point.

Meanwhile Auburn and Arkansas has started.

Scalzo up 2nd for Arkansas on bars, following 9.825 for Swaney.

Scalzo – UB – Ark – short first hs – blind to jaeger, good feet into overshoot – not quite there on cast handstands – DLO, some hips, small hop back. Good. 9.825

Hubbard up 3rd on vault for Auburn – Y1.5, some knees hop forward. Coming after two 9.7s.

Drotar – UB – Ark – good first hs – toe on to maloney to bail, slightly crooked, legs together – short hs on high – DLO, open hits, small step back.

Stevens – VT – Auburn – pretty good control on y1.5, small slide forward – knees throughout, and probably a height deduction. Or not because 9.925.

Jones – UB – Ark – solid first hs position – piked jaeger, a bit close but fine – pak, clean body shape, good amplitude – well short on 1/2 turn on low bar – short cast hs on high DLO, finds the stick.

Rotation 4 underway fro Florida and Alabama.

Blakely – BB – Florida – good aerial into bhs – switch to switch 1/2 to beat, nice first switch, loses foot position in switch 1/2 – gainer full bounce back. 9.800

Suni Lee vaults her 1/2 on tuck 1/2, nearly stuck, could have sold it, step back as she saluted. Still gets 9.950 even though that step is .100

Waligora – FX – Alabama – front lay to front 2/1, just gets it around but takes a crossover step, some knees – back 1.5 to front lay, good layout, a bit too large on slide forward.

Gobourne pretty in the air on vault, small shuffle back. Flatley on bars to anchor Arkansas – hiuggins to jaeger, pretty – small arch in cast hs on high toe on to bail, hit – a couple shortish vertical positions – clean DLO, good stick.

Lazzari – BB – Florida – bhs loso loso series, lovely – switch, small check before split jump, wobble – aerial, pretty – full turn – bhs 1.5 dismount, good stick. Don’t think they’ll deny dance combo credit there, but she opened the door for them to do so. 9.850. They didn’t.

Every time Sam starts talking, the gymnast makes a mistake.

Auburn 49.275 to Arkansas 49.225.

Machado – FX – Alabama – double pike, little bounce back, front foot moving – switch to switch 1/2, love the angle where we just saw the back of everyone’s heads, kathy’s going to cut someone – 1.5 to front pike, hesitation step there – wolf triple – double tuck, chest well down, large lunge forward. 9.675

Nguyen – BB – Florida – onodi, mostly keeps moving to bhs – y spin to full turn, quickly connected there – swtich to split, good positions, small arm adjustment cover – bhs 1.5 dismount, slide forward. 9.825

Adams – FX – Alabama – double pike, controls – switch 1/2 to tuck jump 1.5, hit, surprised more people don’t take advantage of that option – wolf double – 1.5 to front lay, gets it around, lower amplitude. 9.900

DiCello – BB – Florida – candle mount, good vertical – wolf double, smooth – switch to split, no trouble – bhs loso, holds it, does well not to check – aerial, smoothly done – bhs gainer full, high, small hop back. Good one. 9.925

Gladieux – FX – Alabama – high FTDT, kind of cannonballs it, gets good height – split leap full to popa, around – front lay to rudi to split jump, some travel backward – 9.900

Wong – BB – Florida – switch to split leap, lovely – bhs loso, controls – full turn, nice – aerial to beat, good attention to amplitude in beat – 2/1, legs, slide back. 9.875

Also these vault scores Arkansas is getting are unique…

Hudson – FX – Alabama – front lay to front 2/1, controls the step, a bit of leg crossing – switch 1/2 to wolf full, a bit low on wolf position, nice switch – 2.5 twist, out of control lunge sideward, couldn’t tell from this angle if she stayed in – double tuck, hop to present. Just stays in bounds on replay. 9.925…hugghhgh???? With that middle pass, and that last pass?

Thomas – BB – Florida – switch mount – split leap, pretty – full turn, holds it to show you that she can actually do this – one arm bhs to loso, no trouble – aerial to 2 feet, holds it securely this time – beat to korbut, nice – side aerial to 1.5 dismount, dismount is short this week, lunge to the side. 9.875

Blanco – FX – Alabama – good wolf double – double pike, controls the landing well – high double tuck, little slide back – switch ring to switch 1/2 – finishes front full to front lay with a dance out.

Suni going on bars for Auburn now – blind to jaeger to pak to maloney, legs to gienger, solid – nice cast hs on high – giant full, good to double tuck, stuck. This will be a good test of Suni scoring, because between the legs on maloney and body position/amplitude on pak, there are things you should take here.

9.975. One of them tried.

Blanco went 9.950 to get Alabama to 49.425 on floor somehow and a 196.450 final.

FINAL:
Florida 197.325
Alabama 196.450

Honestly neither team putting that one in a museum.

After 2: Auburn 98.650, Arkansas 98.550. So this one is close.

Meanwhile Cal and Arizona are underway. Cal with 9.875 on the first two bars routines, and now it’s Perea – good frist hs – clean pak, legs togehter, nice hs on low – toe on to a bizarre van leeuwen attempt, missed her foot? tucked it and did a 1/2 turn and falls.

Rotation 3

Hollingsworth – bhs loso, check, bend at the waist – switch to switch 1/2, under split, to beat jump – gainer full, stuck. 9.725

Jones – FX – Arkansas – front 2/1, saves it, came in under, avoided too large of a step – switch ring to switch 1/2 – back 1.5 to front lay, kind of whips it over but hit – rudi, solid control. 9.800

Brusch – BB – Auburn – full turn, very slight hesitation – aerail to split jump, hit – bhs loso, secure ladning – swtich, back leg, into switch 1/2, solid – gainer full, stuck. 9.850

Hickey – FX – Arkansas – double pike, hit, little bounce – 1.5 to front lay, a bit of hips, controlled – solid popa position – double tuck, bounce back. 9.825

Cal was able to drop the fall from Perea with two 9.950s from Williams and Li. They go 49.425.

Stevens – BB – Auburn – bhs loso loso, adjustment, small turn to the side and some knees – split ring is hit – kickover to knee, very small correction today – wolf turn – 1.5 dismount, holds the stick with knees.

Lovett – FX – Arkansas – hits her DLO, chest forward today with a lean forward present – good height on double tuck but a large stagger back, a couple steps – switch 1/2 to popa, around – front lay to front full, under, lunge to the side. 9.750

Groth – BB – Auburn – bhs loso bhs, surprised every time that it’s great like a cat finding its water dish anew every single day – switch 1/2 is hit –  side aerial to tuck 1.5, slide back on landing. 9.900

Williams – FX – Arkansas – FTDT, good chest up, controls the step – back 1.5 to lay, clean position – switch side to popa, around – double tuck, small slide back. 9.900

McLaughlin – BB – Auburn – switch to bhs loso, nice toes, right on – side aerial, secure – switch to straddle 1/4 with a check, arm wave – gainer pike, good stick. 9.900

Flatley – FX – Arkansas – 3/1, around, small foot adjustment today – yes, we want to hear all this yammering during Norah’s floor – front 2/1, just a little shy with a step back – switch ring to switch 1/2 – back 1.5 to front lay is hit, good height on front lay. 9.900

Also everything is a 9.9. No skills, all vibes.

Lee – BB – Auburn – wolf double, no trouble – split to sissone, hit – switch, check before switch 1/2 – side aerial to loso loso, small arm wave – gainer tuck full off the end with a step-salute. 9.850

Price – FX – Arkansas – DLO, nicely done, good control – switch side to popa, great amplitude – back 1.5 to front pike, a bit of legs – double pike, chest forward and a stagger on landing. 9.875

49.300s for both teams in that one, so it will remain close.

After 3:
Auburn 147.950
Arkansas 147.850

Meanwhile Cal with no eMjae Frazier will have a very low number on vault, and now a fall in the anchor spot from Brown. Yikers.

Rotation 4

Gamiao – BB – Arkansas – standing loso loso, very solid – side somi, wobble, holds it – switch to split, a bit low on back leg – 1.5, stuck landing. 9.875

We’re going to see 19 tens in this rotation.

Hollingsworth – FX – Auburn – open FTDT, little rebound, good chest up – switch 1/2 to popa, solid – front tuck through to double tuck, chest down but controlled step. 9.900

Lovett – BB – Arkansas – aerial, check – redoes it, aerial, another check lean into loso – swtich to split, arm wave correction – beat jump – gainer tuck full off the end, hop to the side. 9.550

Brusch – FX – Auburn – front tuck through to double tuck, chest up, small rebound – switch 1/2 to popa to wolf full, around, not quite up to every position – double pike, stagger on landing, also keeps it under control. 9.850

We have a convo about Lovett’s beam. Wonder if one of the judges didn’t give acro series.

Swaney – BB – Arkansas – wobble on walkover mount – full turn, hit – bhs loso loso, manages to keep herself on the beam but grabs the beam for .3 – switch to split jump, hit – bhs 1.5 dismount, step forward

No, Bridget. A fall is .5, grabbing the beam is .3

9.450

Groth – FX – Auburn – front 2/1, under control – switch 1/2 to wolf full, nice positions there – 1.5, misses her punch and sits down her intended layout in combo. This meet is falling apart. Where are the 10s? Finishes with a secure rudi. 9.300

Hambrick – BB – Arkansas – full turn, hit – bhs loso and falls – Arkansas switched bars to beam this week – switch to switch 1/2 – beat to straddle 3/4, lean correction – gainer full, holds the stick but leans way forward past horizontal to do so. 9.275

Stevens – FX – Auburn – front lay to rudi, controls the lunge, some body position on layout – split leap full to wolf full, shows split positions – double tuck, holds the stick, chest forward. 9.875

Weaver – BB – Arkansas – bhs loso loso, right on – switch to straddle, good straddle position shown – 1.5, stuck landing. Much better. 9.950 is a little, we’re sorry about the previous routines, but a good one.

Lee – FX – Auburn – DLO, chest up better, rebound back – switch ring to split leap full, solid – 1.5 to front full, a little low, gets it around securely –

9.975. OK. How.

Flatley – BB – Arkansas – aerial to bhs loso, right on – L turn to split to beat, keeps the leg just at horizontal – bhs 1.5, small slide back. Nice. 9.900

Gobourne – FX – Auburn – Ok she almost stepped OOB going into the corner for her first pass, she didn’t but we all saw that right – open double tuck, small rebound – switch side to wolf full, nice height and pretty positions – front full to front lay, lovely, does pretty well to control the step out – double tuck, small movement. Good one.

We have a 10.000/9.900 split there for 9.950. A couple lack of control landings there, but they wanted to give it sooo badly for her and Suni. 49.550 rotation.

FINAL
Auburn 197.500
Arkansas 196.575
