Some unique broadcast choices were made during men’s qualification, so we’ll see what we see today.

I love how on time it started. We see Kishi on beam with a split ring jump – and then finishing double pike, chest a bit forward with a lean. And now some ending choreo from Navas.

Visser vaults 13.066

Moerz – UB – shap to giant full to tkatchev, hoit, good height, some feet at the end, shoprt handstand – elbows on bail catch – clear hip to tor on to shoot to high – doub;le tuck, very low, large lunge forward. 11.566

12.666 for Kishi on beam.

And we already have a scratch for Heron on floor and from Wutschka on bars. So, the party was going great.

Sugihara – BB – front aerial to split to straddle, hit – bhs loso, wobble, arm wave lean to the side – single Y spin, check – side aerial, secure – switch ring, a bit tight, check – double pike, bounce back. Through an opening hit. It’s all going to be OK. 13.033.

Aliyeva – UB – maloney to pakl, flexed feet – van leeiwen, caught, straddle – stalder with legs apart – jaeger is hit – flyaway dmt with a bounce

Cedeño averages 12.099 for her two vaults.

Okamura – BB – loso mount, secure – tour jete 1/2, tight position with a check – side aerial to loso series attempt is way way under and falls – switch ring, lovely foot position, small adjustment on landing – aerial to split to straddle – wolf triple, has to support against the side of the beam with her free leg as she finishes – side somi hit – 2.5 dmt, hop to the side. Worlds is canceled. 12.366

Inquiry for Sugihara on beam.

We’ve gone to a four event window right now. Men’s qualification is like, YOU HAD THAT TECHNOLOGY THE WHOLE TIME??

Boom. Sugihara just got 4 tenths back on inquiry and is now on 13.433. Donatella hitting the inquiry juice already?

After 1:
AA: Sugihara 13.433, Visser 13.966, Kishi 12.666
VT: Cedeño 12.099
UB: Mörz 11.566
BB: Sugihara 13.433
FX: Navas 11.333

Rotation 2

Okamura – FX – double tuck, a bit short, hop forward – popa, good – front lay to front 2/1, under-rotated with a lugne back – switch ring and split ring 1/2, good foot execution – not quite around on triple Y attempt but definitely gets the double – back 2.5, saved an OOB there with a funny and effective line lean.

We’ve cut to Mörz getting back up on beam after a fall. Dismounts with a layout.

Good thing we left the quad view. Wouldn’t have wanted to see all the routines. Yuck.

12.800 for Okamura. 12.566 first vault for Heron. Veerman 13.966 bars.

Heron – VT 2 – very short Y 1.5, sits it down

Visser – UB – we visit at the end – hesitation in the middle of toe full but gets through it into FTDT dismount.

Kishi – FX – joined in progress – wolf double is around – y double is not, didn’t complete two turns – back 2.5, deep squat in landing – hits switch ring – split ring 1/2 is all the rage – double pike, bounce back. 13.566

Visser 14.000 on bars to go ahead of Veerman.

Navas – VT 1 – ro 1/2 on layout full – short but lands it, lunge back and some tucking

Cedeño – UB – joined in progress – hits shoot to high – giant 1/2, front giant with leg separation, 1/2 turn – double tuck step back

Sugihara – FX – double L, borderline – DLO, shorter, hop forward – back 1.5 to double tuck, good rise, stuck landing, great – switch ring – tour jete 1/2 – good – double Y, little lean but looked around – back 2.5 to front lay, has to tuck the layout to get it to her feet – double pike, very small rebound, good one. Some really solid passes but short on the DLO and the 2.5 to front connection 13.366 is behind Kishi.

We finally have a beam score for Mörz of 7.966.

Wutschka – BB – hits loso mount – bhs loso, good, little slide back – aerial, knee, check – wolf single – split jump 1/2 from side, with some leg position – sissone to wolf – attempts a split jump full from side now and falls – side aerial, wobble – gainer pike full, little hop back. 11.766

Didn’t see Navas 2nd vault but she only got a 3.0 D score and an 11.466.

Aliyeva – BB – switch mount – bhs loso, tucks knees but secure – side aerial and falls – wolf single falls onto the beam and grabs it, but stayed off the lava – side somi, holds it – back on straddle from side – back 2/1, step back. 9.366

Very interested in what Navas did because the scores are giving her Yurchenko back tuck as a second vault even though she usually does layout 1.5. She got piked credit for the first.

Bohle – BB – immediate fall on loso mount – bhs loso, second fall – aerial, wobble – switch 1.2, short back leg but secure, pause before korbut – wolf double is hit – switch to sissone – side aerial, third fall – back 2/1 dismount is good.

After 2
AA: Visser 27.066, Sugihara 26.799, Kishi 26.232
VT: Navas 12.549
UB: Visser 14.000
BB: Sugihara 13.433
FX: Kishi 13.566

Rotation 3

Visser – BB – hits side aerial to loso series – switch to side somi, solid – straight jump full from side is well done – double turn, smooth – split leap to sissone – little hop on dismount. What we saw was very good.

Sugihara 13.900 for Y1.5

Kishi – VT – DTY is hit, chest forward, step. 13.933.

12.900 beam for Visser.

Cedeño – BB – falls on bhs loso series – full turn, wobble – side aerial, tries to grab the beam to save it but a second fall – aerial, big leg up wobble – side somi, holds it – split leap, under – sissone – switch, short back leg – back 1.5 hop forward. 7.533

Good double back landing in the background to finish floor for Aliyeva. 10.066

Heron has also scratched bars now.

4 of the 9 beams so far have an E score under 5. I love it here.

Bohle – BB – double pike, good feet, bounce back – wolf double – back 1.5 to front lay a little short with a step – tour jete 1.2, around – double tuck, a little lean – double tuck, deepish – switch – switch 1/2 – good one. 12.200

Mörz – FX – DLO 1/1, pikes it, hits it, step back OOB – double L turn is around – DLO, legs apart, small hop back – switch wolf to tour jete full, under on the split but good rotation – front lay to double tuck, small step, solid chest position – wolf triple, pulls it around – double pike, shuffle back – triple turn. 12.966

After 3
AA: Sugihara 40.699, Kishi 40.165, Visser 39.966
VT: Navas 12.549
UB: Visser 14.000
BB: Sugihara 13.433
FX: Kishi 13.566

Rotation 4

Scratch update: Navas is scratching beam.

Sugihara – UB – good hs – toe 1/2 to jaeger, hit, good feet, low – toe full to pak, smooth – maloney to gienger, pretty close but got it – double arabian dismount, hit, lunge back. Solid hit. Can deduct for amplitude but pretty form overall. 13.400 and a good 8.0 E score.

Cedeño – FX – joining – wolf 1.25 hand down – front lay with a stumble

Bohle – VT – solid Yfull, medium bounce back, some pike. NCAA 9.750

We join bars to see Kishi dead hanging around on bars as the Japanese supporters exhale a moan of depression – resumes with a pak – van leeuwen, good legs together – stalder – blind to jaeger, closer but caught – giant 1/2, short – toe full, past into FTDT, deeper with a lunge to the side.

Mörz – VT 1 – handspring lay 1/2, really nice height and a clear layout position, bounce back and some direction

Visser – FX – whip to a triple full to an insane looking attempt at a front tuck, cannonball fall out of bounds – heel drops in double L – gets the double y, pretty – switch 1.2, good – double tuck – switch ring – tour jete a little less on the split – 2/1 to front tuck final pass is hit. 11.100

Mörz – VT 2 – very large bounce back on Tsuk full

Nakamura – UB – Def is hit, legs apart – inbar full, past into piked deltchev, good – inbar 1/2, a bit of a struggle into piked jaeger – pak is hit – toe shoot, good feet – toe full, past to FTDT, hop back. Hit the routine! Now how much will they destroy the vertical positions?

13.500 and a 7.400 E score. Sigh.

13.666 vault avg for Mörz goes into first there.

That’s it for subdivision 1!

I just wrote Jamaica as Japanica. So it’s 4:30am and whatnot.

Rotation 1

G Black – FX – front full through to double pike, hit, hop forward- split jump full – double arabian attempt is short and falls – wolf double is around – switch to tour jete, under – double tuck, short but pulls it out – hop forward – switch 1/2, short of split. 11.500

Shin stumbles back but lands Y1.5 on vault – 13.200

Hautala finishes bars with double tuck, hop forward. 11.166

Yildiz 10.900 on beam.

Fontaine – FX – double double, step back OOB – double L turn, around, bent knee – front full through to double tuck, bounce back – big lean aka fall out of triple turn – switch 1/2 probably not worth it, under split – jussssst pulls around wolf triple but the last 1/2 turn is a struggle and a half – double pike, solid, little hop back. 12.333 and a 7.033 E. Ooof.

Biner lands a double pike on beam, hop forward.

12.900 is the 2-vt average for Shin. Into 2nd.

12.500 bars for Tanskanen. 11.966 beam for Biner.

Tarhan – BB – front tuck, deep but very secure – ro layout 2 feet, big lean over to the side – holds it – I liked how the scores came up over the middle of her routine – straddle from side – aerial, wobble – split straddle – side aerial is solid – double pike, hop forward. 11.633

We didn’t see Kuusikko’s bars but it’s only 13.433, so I’m out.

Holmes – BB – wolf single, hit – side aerial, arm wave wobble – bhs loso, holds onto it, little rebound back – split jump 1/2 from side is secure, good work – switch to switch 1/2, under on switch 1/2 but good feet, wobble – does another dance combination – hop on 1.5 dismount, solid. 10.866

Walker – BB – full turn – split jump to wolf jump, nice wolf position – standing loso loso is secure – split jump 1/2 from side, wobble but gets it – front tuck, secure, a little deep – switch to switch 1/2, under on split but miracle save to readjust feet – back tuck – gainer full to the side like the college gymnast she is – step forward. I was going to say this was a great audition for the lineup, but sticking the gainer full is a requirement. You have Ana Barbosu and Jennifer Williams to contend with now.

Subdivision leaders after 1
AA: Shin 13.200
VT: Shin 12.900
UB: Kuusikko 13.433
BB: Biner 11.966

11.800

Yildiz – FX – back 1.5 to front full, leg separation, hit – switch – tour jete 1/2 attempt, under split – 2/1, hop to the side – switch 1/2 under, let’s cut to Shallon waiting on vault.

Olsen – VT 1 – just pulls around a DTY, tucking, big hop forward

Shin – UB – maloney to pak, pretty – van leeuwen, small leg separation – short cast hs – clear hip to 1/2 to jaeger, fingertips it but very nice looking – toe full and ahhhh can’t save it, goes over the wrong way and falls – finishes with FTDT, hop to the side

Lonnnng wait for Shallon’s vault score. 13.166

Tarhan – FX – DLO, quite short, pulls it out with a big lunge forward – front full through to just a back layout – split leap full to switch side – nice high switch side – pike jump full – double pike, good stick – popa. 11.666

Olsen – VT 2 – does not attempt the Cheng, just the Lopez – lunge back

Tanskanen – BB – join for her double wolf, huge struggle and grabs the beam – switch to switch side – side somi, foot movement, holds it – 1.5 dmt, hop to the side\

12.000 for Olsen’s second vault. Ouch. They did not give layout. 4.2 D score.

Walker – FX – DLO, hit, little bounce up and some pike at the end – split jump full – front tuck to back layout full – switch – switch 1/2 to wolf full – tour jete 1/2 – double pike, big bounce back

Fernando on beam, saves a loso series – switch leap, good high back leg – wolf to split jump, large wobble –

Tsuk layout full second vault for G Black is clean. 13.500 average is into 2nd.

12.900 for Lee YS on bars.

Fontaine gets 14.066 for a DTY, top single vault score so far.

Fontaine – VT 2 – Lopez, lunge back, solid, looked like she should get credit for layout from this angle, and she does.

13.733 second vault. 14.099 average with the 0.2. Easily into first on vault.

Hautala – BB – falls on front tuck mount – bhs loso, secure – wolf double, grabs the beam to keep it on – switch to split leap 3/4, which is not an element but I like it – side somi, hit – split jump from side, secure – 1.5 dmt, hop forward. 11.033

Rotation 3

Eom -BB – front tuck mount, secure but deep, to split to straddle – fhs to front tuck, deep again but secure, doesn’t connect to bhs, does it alone – wolf double, teeters around – aerial, wobble before split ring jump – side aerial, secure – switch ring, holds it – long pause before dismount – double pike, pulls it out. 12.666

Podobed lunge forward on double pike – hands down on final pass

Fontaine – UB – maloney to tkatchev, form but hit – jaeger, knees swinging in – toe full goes over the wrong way, extra swing – attempts toe full again and comes off this time – resumes with pak – van leeuwenm legs together hit – DLO, step back. 10.733

Feel like when Black and Hwang were going at the same time would have nice time to use the multi-screen option you have. We see only Hwang’s dismount, double tuck two lunges back.

Hautala – FX – wolf double – popa is good – DLO lands all the way OOB with a knee down – front lay to double full, leg separation but solid – tour jete 1/2, solid – switch 1/2 – double tuck, chest down, lunge forward. 10.933

Hwang just 12.966 on beam but that’s into 2nd place.

Tanskanen – FX – double double tuck is hit, bounce back – back 1.5 to front full, hop forward, knees – tour jete 1/2 to switch side 1/2 – wolf double – FTDT, bounce back – popa –

E Black – BB – switch mount to switch 1/2 to korbut, hit – double turn, big lean to the side bend – full turn to straddle to wolf – front tuck, little hop – bhs layout 2 feet, little rebound – side somi, holds it, little adjustment – 2.5 dmt, hop to the side – one big break on the double turn but stayed on.

“Ellie Black. Cheering for herself.” LOL.

Tanskanen goes 13.300 for her Tsuk full and finishes on 50.866, which will win the subdivision.

They don’t know what to do with Alana Walker today. Now her bars score has taken 19 hours.

13.466 beam for Ellie Black, which moves ahead of Sugihara and into first.

11.866 bars for Walker and a 48.599 AA! Really good result. She outscores both Canadians.

Tarhan – UB – jaeger, some knees swinging into it but hit – pak – toe on to toe 1/2, short, to toe shoot – giant full – DLO, lunge forward.

11.966, 48.298 AA.

Biner – UB – toe full, some leg separation, into maloney, to pak, good connection – van leeuwen is well done – short cast hs on high – jaeger, hit – cast 1/2 – giant full, solid finish position – double pike, one dodgy foot, very clear with the socks – lunge back. 12.566

Yildiz – UB – toe full – maloney to pak, legs apart on pak – van leeuwen, also a leg break there – clear hip 1/2 was super late, couldn’t really get it and hops off – resumes with a good clear hip 1/2 this time, connects to jaeger and falls again – double tuck, step forward

Lai – BB – aerial – check before dance combo – and now we’ve cut away. Nooo…you were doing so well for a half second…

Roda does a back 1.5 on floor – good switch ring head release – also solid feet in her leaps – front lay – wolf single – minimal tumbling here but some good dance elements shown.

10.933 on bars for Tan.

Schäfer – VT – yfull, hit with bounce back, direction deduction

A Yap – UB – pak, hit, feet at the end – toe on, pulls through it – shoot to high – 1/2 to front giant 1/2 – double pike, overcooks it and falls

Chao – BB – hits side aerial to back tuck – aerial to split ring jump to korbut – tuck jump full from side is well done – full turn – switch ring, wobble, covers – back full, hop back. 12.666 is 5th!

Nemour – FX – back 1.5 to 3/1, still under rotated but closer than at Ita nats, lunge – front lay to double pike, chest down, hop forward – wolf double, around – switch ring to tour jete 1/2, under rotation – her bib is coming off – double tuck is very short but saves it from too large a deduction, chest down and hop – remarkable improvement in artistry. 12.666

E Yap – UB – finishes giant full – double tuck, step back

Schönmaier – VT 2 – got 14.033 for her DTY first vault – does the Lopez, good layout position but a large bounce back. 13.666 – 14.049 average is into 2nd behind Fontaine.

Ting Hua-Tien – BB – her style is giving very 2007 Vanessa Ferrari – joining in progress – aerial to bhs to straddle, very good combo – switch good, to split ring jump, a little raggedy with a step forward to control – side aerial, lean correction – punch front full, little hop.

12.966 into 3rd on beam, ahead of Hwang on the tiebreak.

Hamidi – FX – split jump full, good – ro to double tuck, step back OOB – front lay to front full, legs apart – switch to split leap full, hop around – back 1.5, legs apart, little rebound. 10.7

13.066 vt avg for Yusufova is into 5th.

Aripova – VT – hs front tuck is short with a stumble back

Subdivision leaders after 1
AA: Schönmaier 14.033, Stöhr 13.266, Yusufova 13.033
VT: Schönmaier 14.049
UB: Tan 10.933
BB: Ting 12.966
FX: Nemour 12.666

Rotation 2

Schäfer – UB – piked jaeger, good – pak, solid, foot flexing – toe on to van leeuwen solid – short hs on high – giant full, past – giant 1/2, some leg separation – double front, lands lock legged, keeps it to her feet but several lunges to do so

Goh – BB – joining midway – solid side aerial landing – back 1/1, step

Chao falls on floor on a front full

11.900 vault for Roda

Nemour – VT – goes for DTY but is way way short, stumble forward and hands down. 12.433

Depending on how things continue, I feel like she could medal in the AA final with an FTY…

13.066 bars for Schönmaier, so AA is going very well so far.

Aripova – UB – Ray, hit – clear hip 1/2 to yezhova, legs apart but solid – shapo, legs on backswing, into pak – maloney – clear hip full – delladio dismount, step back. 12.500

We only saw the very end of Amanda Yap on beam but she goes 13.300 and is into 3rd. She won a junior Asian beam medal with some excellent form, so nice to see that translate to seniors.

E Yap – BB – hits switch mount with a check – wolf double, good – bhs back tuck series, holds it with a small waver – aerial to split is good – switch to wolf, hit – side aerial – side somi, lean forward but holds it – double tuck, little hop. Singapore is happening. 12.666, another very good result.

Stöhr – UB – toe full to maloney to hindorff and falls – alas – such good leg position before that – coach trips over the springboard helping her rto remount – form was great after that – double front, step. Tons of potential. 12.166

FX: Nemour 12.666

Rotation 3

It’s OK, I didn’t want to see the AA leader do beam…

Tan – FX – double pike, little hop – double tuck – switch – tour jete 1/2, under – double turn – front tuck to back lay full

We see a gainer pike full dismount for Schönmaier, hit.

Roda has to stop against the bar on a kipo cast – hits bail to shoot but stops again – dismounts with layout

12.166 beam for Schönmaier.

Wu – VT 2 – hs front pike, lunge forward

A Yap on floor – double pike, good shape but short – was going for triple L it looked like but didn’t get three around – double tuck, hop – bounce back on front tuck through to double full

Yusufova on beam, stabs up out of double wolf but stays on – step back on bhs back tuck series –

Hamidi – UB – toe on to maloney into overshoot no handstand, which is not a skill in elite – shoot to high and dead hang – giant full, legs apart, into layout

Emma Yap fall on FTDT on FX. I honestly thought they were going to show this instead of Nemour’s bars and felt so bad for her for how much anger her routine was going to cause.

Nemour – UB – inbar full to Nemour to pak to maloney to stalder full to stalder tkatchev 1/2 to yezhova to stalder shap 1/2 – toe full to DLO – excellent – nailed it – magnificent

15.533 for Nemour. Is that good?

Diaz – UB – maloney to pak, close but hits it – van leeuwen little leg break – giant full – blind to jaeger, solid – past on cast 1/2 – only a layout dismount, hop

Schäfer on beam (not that one) – near fall on bhs at the end of a mixed series but saves it with leg up – front tuck, hit, hop forward – back tuck, check – front layout full, hop. 11.933

Stöhr – BB – loso mount, hit – pause before split and straddle – side aerial to loso loso is well done, solid – switch, short back leg, pause befroe side somi, hit – tour jete 1/2 attempt, lands under rotated – wolf triple, hit – 2/1, some knees, hop back. Very good. 13.166, ranks 4th there.

AA: Nemour 40.632, Schönmaier 39.265, Stöhr 38.598
VT: Schönmaier 14.049
UB: Nemour 15.533
BB: A Yap 13.300
FX: Nemour 12.666

Rotation the 4th

Nemour – BB – loso mount, hit – bhs loso loso is solid – aerial to split to straddle, secure – switch to switch 1/2, feet on switch 1/2 – side aerial, solid – wolf double, grabs the beam and then hops off, it was going so well – double pike, step back.

13.233 and 4th place so far with a fall. Almost first in the AA right now with two falls. I think the message for her from today is play it safe (other than bars, obvs) because the scores will be there. She’s less than 5 tenths off the best E on beam so far. With a fall.

Goh – VT 2 – Tsuk back pike, lunge back

Aripova – FX – double pike, little hop – 2.5, tries to connect to front tuck hand down

Schäfer – FX – electrocution choreo to start, whih is a good sign – wolf double – double pike, flexed feet but solid, little hop – popa – front full, hop forward – switch leap full to knee to show you it was “around” – double tuck, hop back – tour jete 1/2, a little shy of split – switch, good – 12.466

Stöhr – FX – split jump full – whip full to double tuck, step back – drops out of double y spin try – switch to tour jete 1/2 – back 1.5 to front full, tucks it around some – wolf triple, leans through it with some now-compulsory “I meant to do it like that” hand-down choreo – 2.5, crossover step. 12.133

Checking in on the end of Diaz on beam – side aerial is hit – front lay full, hop forward

Schönmaier – FX – double double tuck, really short, large lunge forward – back 1.5 to front full, small stagger on landing – switch full to knee – butt spins out of a wolf double attempt – double tuck, little hop. 12.866

End of day!
