In pre-meet lineups, the question mark spot on UCLA’s floor has gone to Barros, with Matthews and Alipio in exhibition positions.

In the most January development of the earlier meets, Michigan State has counted a fall on bars after Smith missed a Pak and Zsarmani went over on a handstand.

okkayyyyyy

Rotation 1

Sumanasekera – VT – UCLA – yfull, good height, hop back and some direction. 9.800

Burns – UB – Nebraska – blind to piked jaeger, hit – a bit of angle in cast hs – legs together on bail – some feet and short verticals – DLO, legs apart, good stick. Solid start. 9.750

Anyimi – VT – UCLA – yfull, good open and direction, bounces up and then leans forward to try to control the bounce. 9.750

Griffin – UB – Nebraska – maloney, small leg break on that and connected pak – short hs on low – van leeuwen, pinged bar and a leg separation – stalder front tuck 1/2 is very deep with lunge back. 9.600 with a 9.5/9.7 split. I was on team 9.5 there.

Rosen – VT – UCLA – y1.5, very small hop forward initially but then lean and another small hop – tucks the vault at the end. 9.800

Sikon – UB – Nebraska – blind to jaeger to overshoot, good height, just some feet in jaeger – tighter hs on high -g iant full is solid into double tuck, hop back. Good. 9.800

Jenkins – VT – UCLA – y1.5, pretty large lunge forward, recalling last night, some knee tucking in the air, less than Rosen. 9.725

Kraus – UB – Nebraska – Ray to overshoot, good ray, overshoot a little close with some legs – FTDT, good position, hop back. 9.775

Sullivan – VT – UCLA – y1.5, great height and dynamics, shuffle forward. 9.900

Peterson – UB – Nebraska – good hs on low – toe on to maloney to bail, good feet, small leg separations – hits hs on high well – FTDT, just some feet, good stick. 9.875

Chiles – VT – UCLA – DTY, stuck landing, very nice. Very Kayla Williams 2009. There’s a small leg separation at the end of the twist. We’ll see if they decide to see it. They didn’t. 10.000

Jencks – UB – Nebraska – tkatchev to overshoot is hit -a bit shy on hs on high – DLO, small rebound

Eichman solid landing on yfull in exhibition, could be an option.

Frost falls on Ray in exhibition for Nebraska

After 1
UCLA 49.250
Nebraska 49.050

Chiles saves the rotation score for UCLA after some early OKishness. Nebraska impresses on bars overall, should be a competitive group.

Rotation 2

Griffin – VT – Nebraska – yfull, twists on the table for some direction, hop back. 9.675

Rosen – UB – UCLA – toe on to maloney, legs together, connects to pak – body angle on the 1/2 turn on low – solid hs on high – DLO, leg separation, little rebound. 9.850

Pech – VT – Nebraska – yfull, better direction, medium hop back, leg separation. 9.750

Sumanasekera – UB – UCLA – stalder shap to pak, smooth – little adjustment on 1/2 turn on low – FTDT, hop back. Straight leg casts but, as they often do, end up looking a little short – 9.825

Jencks – VT – Nebraska – yfull is hit, little hop back, not the most distance, little pike. 9.675

Webster-Longin – UB – UCLA – maloney to pak, small break on maloney, good on pak – strong position on 1/2 turn on low – clear hit to FTDT, hop back. 9.850

Baechle – VT – Nebraska – y1.5 tucked, lands slightly short with a step back/sideward. 9.800

Matthews – UB – UCLA – good hs on high – pak, clean – solid hs on low – van leeuwen leg separation – shorter final cast hs, rushed – DLO, chest forward with a hop. 9.825

Shaver – VT – Nebraska – yfull, medium bounce back, little pike, best dynamics and body position of the yfull Nebraska group thus far. 9.750

Sullivan – UB – UCLA – toe on to tkatchev, good amplitude – hits hs – pak, good form – 1/2 turn on low – crisp hs on high – DLO, some piking, good stick. 9.900

Sikon – VT – Nebraska – yfull, another medium bounce back, a little ragged in the layout position. 9.700

Chiles – UB – UCLA – piked tkatchev to pak, clean – past vertical on 1/2 turn on low – good hs on high – DLO, hop forward. 9.900

After 2
UCLA 98.575
Nebraska 97.725

Solid 49.325 for UCLA on bars as everyone needs to send Ashlee Sullivan and Jordan Chiles fruit baskets for bringing up these rotation scores. Nebraska gets stuck in the 9.7s on those yfulls for a 48.675. After UCLA got 9.800 and 9.750 for their yfulls, Nebraska was going to be lower than those scores for not having as much height/distance.

Barros hits in bars exhibition, just bouncy on dismount. Anyimi falls on piked Jaeger.

Rotation 3

Rosen – BB – UCLA – switch to split, good – beat to onodi, little waver check working out of it into stepping – bhs loso secure – full turn – 1.5 dismount, holds the stick with a lean forward. 9.900 with a 9.950/9.850 split.

Gard – FX – Nebraska – double tuck, shows control, chest a bit down – switch ring to tour jete 1/2 – front lay to front full, tucks the full some – double pike, chest down, step forward. 9.700

Matthews – BB – UCLA – switch to split, solid – side aerial to bhs is hit securely with some soft knee position – wolf single, arm wave lean forward at the end – 2/1 dmt, pretty big bounce back 9.775

Kraus – FX – Nebraska – double tuck, large bounce back, keeps it in bounds – tour jete 1/2 to popa, good rise into popa, a little lower on the tour jete 1/2 – 1.5 to layout, whips around the layout – double pike, chest down and lunge like Gard had. 9.650

Sumanasekera – BB – UCLA – full turn, nice – bhs loso, good extension, secure landing – aerial to beat, fluid combo – split jump, little slow into split ring jump, solid, some back foot flexing – bhs 1.5, some legs, good stick. 9.900

Baechle – FX – Nebraska – front 2/1, fully rotated, slides forward, some leg crossing – switch side 1/4 to popa ish, overturns the switch side into the popa – back 1.5 to front full, tucks the full – 9.650

Webster-Longin – BB – UCLA – handstand 1/2 turn in split mount – full turn – bhs bhs loso, hit, foot slide back on landing – beat to switch 1/2, good rise and split position there but a wobble on landing – high 1.5 dmt, stuck. 9.875

Sikon – FX – Nebraska – double tuck, a little out of control on step back, stays in bounds – back 1.5 to front lay, comes up short small hop back – gogean is about a 1/4 under into a straddle – 9.725

Chiles – BB – UCLA – bhs loso, shows actual flight on the bhs, which I like – cat leap to switch side, solid landing – full turn, good – side aerial, secure – 2/1, good stick, slight leg crossing at the end. 9.975

Jencks – FX – Nebraska – front 2/1, controls the step, very slightly under rotated but fine – switch 1/2 to wolf full to straight jump 1/2 out of it – back loso to knee to have a backward element is a fun choice – front lay to rudi, chest down and step as well. 9.700

Alipio – BB – UCLA – full turn, good – bhs bhs loso, quickly brings arms down to hold it – side aerial, secure – split leap to switch to beat is very nice – gainer tuck full, compresses to hold stick. 9.975 as the judges switch 10s. A very well-sold routine. There were like two or three times in there where it’s almost a deduction and then it’s suddenly not.

Homecillo – FX – Nebraska – double pike, controls the step back – back 1.5 to front lay, straight legs in the layout – switch 1/2 is under split, into popa and a straight jump – double tuck, strong secure landing. 9.850

After 3
UCLA 148.200
Nebraska 146.350

UCLA explodes on beam for 49.625. High, especially on some of the early routines (Rosen and MWL were more 9.850y for me) but a very strong rotation that should be a big number. Nebraska got chest-downed on a lot of last passes to keep those floor scores down.

Eichman falls on side somi in exhibition. Clay hits for 9.825.

Rotation 4

Jencks – BB – Nebraska – bhs loso, secure, chest a little low – full turn – kickover front, wobble with arm wave to keep it together – switch, a little slow into straddle jump 1/2, under split – 1.5, hop forward. 9.725

Rosen – FX – UCLA – double tuck, little rebound – double pike, really deep with a lunge forward – switch ring to switch 1/2 to wolf full, gets slightly under rotated there – back 1.5 to front lay dance out, more solid. 9.625

Homecillo – BB – Nebraska – bhs bhs loso, secure – full turn, small adjustment – beat to straddle 3/4, scoots it around – 1.5 dmt, hop forward. 9.825

Webster-Longin – FX – UCLA – front 2/1, somewhat awkward landing, short with a crossover step, so more than a tenth there – back 1.5 to layout, good rise and straight position in layout – switch 1/2 to wolf jump full, good positions – rudi, good twisting form, bounce back. 9.700

Gard – BB – Nebraska – bhs loso, secure, soft knee – full turn wobble – beat to side aerial, foot was a little off line, brings it back well – switch to switch to split jump, shows enough rhythm to get the combo – gainer pike, good stick. 9.750

Lineup change, Alipio back in for Barros.

Alipio – FX – UCLA – double pike, good height, again sells the landing well, keeping front foot down – switch ring to switch 1/2 to wolf full, good foot positions, quick hop out – wolf double, around clearly – back 1.5 to layout, some legs in 1.5, lower layout but clean

Kraus – BB – Nebraska – split jump, check – full turn – bhs loso is well done – htich kick to switch 1/2, little shoulder dip into beat jump but shows speed – cartwheel – “A little developmental nod” LOL – gainer tuck full, a little close to the beam with lean to hold stick. 9.825

Sumanasekera – FX – UCLA – DLO, little rebound, keeps back foot in line – switch ring to switch 1/2 to wolf full, around well, a bit of foot position – back 1.5 to layout, solid hit, a little lower in the layout. 9.875

Burns – BB – Nebraska – bhs loso loso and falls – resumes with full turn – beat to straddle 1/2, a bit tight – 1.5 dmt, step forward

Sullivan – FX – UCLA – DLO, good height, controls the front foot on rebound – tour jete 1/2 to popa, great height and position but a little off kilter on landing – front through to double tuck, moves that front foot around but was under control and good chest position – 9.875

Sikon – BB – Nebraska – hits candle mount – wobble on a little developmental nod – bhs loso, wobble, lean to the side – cat leap to switch 1/2, good back leg rise in switch 1/2 – 1.5 dmt, good stick, wide stance, brings heels together. 9.775

Chiles – FX – UCLA – DLO, chest down with a step forward, so probably .150 off there – tour jete 1/2 to wolf full, around – front tuck through to double tuck, little bounce back – pike full shushunova. 9.800

FINAL
UCLA 197.325
Nebraska 195.250

195.250 probably not the regionals-level score Nebraska wants but an improvement over week 1. 197.325 will put UCLA ahead of Missouri, tied with Georgia. Solid early season performance, some scraggly routines at the beginnings of a couple lineups but no capital P problems.
