Today may officially be the start of men’s Olympic podium training, but…come on.

Much more importantly, the gymnastics movie of our time, The Bronze, is out on DVD and Blu-Ray. Now. RIGHT NOW.

BUT WAIT. In honor of the release, the good people at The Bronze have provided me with two gift packages to give to two of you lucky readers, each package including a Blu-Ray copy of the movie, an Olympic Viewing Kit with all kinds of The Bronze-themed swag, and a bunch of special mystery prizes! (Good ones. Wardrobe and props from the movie.)

  1. 2015 bronze bars medalist of course. oh wait, that is nobody……! my favorite bronze was Aly Raisman on beam in 2012 with all that Ponor drama and stuff it was a very exciting moment. Go ALY!

  3. Does it have to be bronze in gymnastics, or can it be any olympic sport (like esp. figure skating, diving, etc.). Thanks!

  4. My favorite Bronze medal performance is the one that didn’t happen. Aly Raisman shined at the 2012 Olympics, and should have had a bronze medal for all-around. She out-performed on 3 of the 4 events, and the STUPID, ILLOGICAL, completely contrary-to-the-concept-of-what-all-around-is tie-breaking rule of dropping the lowest scoring event robbed her of her all-around Bronze medal.

  5. In the meantime, I’d have to say my favorite bronze medal gymnastics performance would be Courtney Kupets’ 2004 Athens bronze on uneven bars. Such high hopes for her, only to be struck down with a stress fracture in her hip. Some individual glory to go with the team silver.

  7. My favorite bronze medal winning performance was Danell at the 2012 Olympics in the AA. He was just so proud of himself, and that inner light came out.

My favorite bronze is Aly in 2012 AA, because let’s be real that was a bronze medal performance! #robbed The way she handled herself throughout speaks volumes, and I can only hope she gets a second go at it! If that doesn’t count, my second fav is the 2000 women’s team in Sydney, where finally in 2010 their performance was recognized with a bronze medal. Nothing like finally knowing your true results a decade later!

  11. Aly, beam, 2012! Because Aly, AA, 2012 doesn’t *technically* exist. (Man, that was a popular bronze medal!)

  13. hmmm, I’ve got to bounce off the spring floor and land on all fours on the ice, like Michelle Kwan did in the Salt Lake Winter Olympics. To this day, every time some slips and falls around me I tell them they look just like Michelle Kwan during the biggest moment of her life! Bonus points for me, she fell on a triple flip which makes it sounds completely like gymnastics while at the same time not at all.

  14. Has to be Beth Tweddle and her bronze on bars in 2012. She had been trying for a bars medal for 3 different Olympic Games!!! Plus bars is my favorite event.

  17. Aly Raisman’s Balance Beam performance. I got really into watching the Olympics that year, and Team USA was amazing.

  18. Mustafina in the 2012 AA final. Not so much because of her performance but more for the big ass smirk on her face when she won the tie break.

  20. Would have to go with Produnova’s beam bronze from 2000. Because shaved eyebrow warrior princesses and stuck double fronts and something good coming out of the tire fire that was the Sydney games.

  21. I would say Joannie Rochette, 2010 figure skating Olympic bronze medalist. Her mother died suddenly two days before her competition and it was inspiring how she won a bronze in her honor.

  22. I have to agree with the Beth Tweddle bronze in 2012 on bars. She was such an ambassador for the sport in GB and it was wonderful to see her get a medal in her home country.

  25. I’m gonna go with Anna Pavlova’s bronze on vault in 04′. Because otherwise Pavlova wouldn’t have an individual Olympic medal and I can’t live in that world.

  26. Does Marco Rubio count? His performance of “maybe I’m a human” was gold medal-worthy (“performance” being the operative word), even if Trump and Cruz were considered more “artistic.” And Florida didn’t even give Rubio domestic scoring!

  29. Joining the Beth Tweddle UB bronze at London 2012! She could’ve won with a real hit (also can never sleep on EF/TF Mustafina, I guess) but holy pants what a routine.

  30. Fabian Hambüchens bronze medal performance in Beijing 2008. His success (of course also with the gold at worlds 2007) kicked off a whole new era of german gymnastics and paved the way for other german gymnasts. And his celebrations are kind of adorable.

  31. Yang Yilin in 2008. I don’t care about the age scandal, she performed like a champ in front of her home crowd.

  35. Cheng Fei’s BB bronze in ’08. To see her take advantage of others’ mistakes when the same thing had happened to her in floor finals was a great end to her career. Though I wish she could have had that Olympic floor medal 🙁

  36. Three way tie for bronze at 1992 Olympics – floor finals. Miller, Gutsu, and Bontas!

  38. I was SO obsessed with the 1996 Olympic team, so it has to be Dawes floor bronze in 1996!

  44. Kathy Johnson-1984 Balance Beam Bronze

    After waiting 4 years to get to the Olympics (thank you President Carter and a senseless boycott), Kathy Johnson made the Beam final. To do so, she had to get past Julianne McNamara and Mary Lou Retton…the teams two stars…to get to the final.
    She competed in the AA final and had a terrible day by falling on FX…and Beam to finish 10th. Then…the final competitive routine in her career she wins THE BRONZE with a routine that included the “Shannon Miller back extension rolls” that people gush over…they SHOULD be called “Kathy Johnson Back Extension roles”!
    Kathy finished behind Romanians Ekaterina Szabo and Simona Pauca, who tied for gold, and ahead of Mary Lou Retton 🙂
    Nowadays Kathy Jonshon has been ‘Clark-ed’ and can be heard having audible organisms for beam skills as artistic as those back extension rolls!

  45. Beth Tweddle bronze-disgruised-as-gold on bars in 2012. Should have been gold. In my mind she got gold, not for that performance but gold.

  50. Aly Raisman’s balance beam bronze in 2012! I was in tears of joy for her after the heartbreak of tie break gone wrong in the all-around.
