It’s the big meet! During week 2! You know how famously all championships are decided in week 2. If we’re going to keep doing this “most of the top teams!” Sprouts quads, I feel like it should be a mid-season showdown kind of thing. We’ve barely started.
In prospective lineups, LSU has Bryant in on beam (replacing Drayton), as well as Dunne replacing Jeffrey on bars and Zeiss replacing KJ Johnson on vault. Cal has Kane in for Brown on bars, Oklahoma has Sievers in for Mueller on bars, and Utah has Zirbes in for Krump on floor.
Thankfully we have alternate web feeds because my TV broadcast is all-fire-all-the-time.
Utah got the “most consistent team in gymnastics” edit in the intro. Ouch. And there’s Marla Hooch. What a hitter.
Aly says Oklahoma reminds her of the US national team. But like, which era? That could mean a lot of different things. “Hi KJ, you’re Martha.”

Isn’t one of the big draws of these podium at a neutral location meets that it’s an away score for everyone? You would think the programs would want that in the back half of the season when it would be more helpful for NQS.
The programs don’t have a choice. The NCAA has never done anything for the benefit of the programs, and you don’t get to tell Disney when you want to have the meet.
It’s not just the Sprouts one, though. There was San Antonio earlier today and the one last week, neitherof which was broadcast.
@Mary San Antonio was actually live-streamed on YouTube through the Virtius YouTube account
Right, but that was an online stream, so it wouldn’t be the broadcast network determining the competition date
Feels like the pendulum might already be swinging back a bit because of the reaction to Week 1 scoring.
Seriously. It was nice for the three days that it lasted…
Even last night was scored better than this so far. It’s like the judges heard the “possible championship teams” hype for this session & decided they better reinforce it.
Wells did a switch-leg side aerial! I feel like this should be noted. Phenomenal
Seeing the Pac 12 on the judge tables got me curious so I checked their schedule. So OSU will just sit out conference championships weekend this year?
Yes.
LSU has got to find better options than Livvy Dunne on these events. Her form is bad on bars (bent hips, missed handstands, whatever that ‘layout’ dismount was). The ring leaps need to be deleted immediately from beam and floor. You gotta wonder if it’s Jay trying to get more eyes on the program, because she ain’t it.
I agree. With Zoe Miller and Kaliya Lincoln on the team, I’m wondering why Dunne is competing bars and floor.
Miller is out for the season from shoulder surgery, and Lincoln is managing injuries and bars is not her strongest. Dunne was in Jeffery’s spot, assuming she was sick or injured, because Dunner would never be ahead of her. Drayton is next in line.
Zoe Miller is injured and will be out all year and Kaliya Lincoln is also coming back from injuries so LSU have already said they’re starting her off slowly. It’s also only week 2.
This is Brooklyn’s year! Her beam is stunning (though her leaps were a little wonky today with that shoulder dip) – prior to that she was gorgeous
Oh god! Not Payton Harris! I hope it’s not too serious. Ohio State was one of the most consistent teams last year and had a phenomenal year. This year could be a huge stepping stone for the program. Plus, if Ohio State’s collective and revenue sharing become involved, watch out.
I am impressed with Ohio State! Vetter and Harris, plus the freshman Guevara, Coleman, and Smith, can make a statement. Seriously, they are so under appreciated nationally.
Quite the rock for Magnelli 👀
I thought the same thing!
Did Jordan get bleeped in the post-meet interview? Or just a technical issue?
Hey KJ…two routines with awesome choreo, one with good choreo, and then meh….
